语⾔点1 “one of +复数名词”的⽤法: 1)当“one of +复数名词”在句⼦中充当主语时,实际主语是one,紧跟其后的谓语动词⼀定⽤单数形式。

2)当“one of +复数名词”后加定语从句时,因为定语从句的关系代词所修饰的先⾏词不是one,⽽是of后⾯的复数名词,所以从句的谓语动词⼀定⽤复数形式。

3)要注意,当one前有the,thevery,the only等修饰限制时,从句中的谓语动词⼀定要⽤单数。

Lesson 64:The Channel Tunnel 新概念英语2课⽂内容: In 1858, a French engineer, Aime Thome de Gamond, arrived in England with a plan for a twenty-one-mile tunnel under the English Channel. He said that it would be possible to build a platform in the centre of the Channel. This platform would serve as a port and a railway station. The tunnel would be well-ventilated if tall chimneys were built above sea level. In 1860, a better plan was put forward by an Englishman, William Low. He suggested that a double railway-tunnel should be built. This would solve the problem of ventilation, for if a train entered this tunnel, it would draw in fresh air behind it. Forty-two years later a tunnel was actually begun. If, at the time, the British had not feared invasion, it would have been completed. The world had to wait almost another 100 years for the Channel Tunnel.
