Those with greater levels of internet addiction are more likely to get ill, than those who spend fewer hours online.Researchers at the universities of Swansea and Milan believe the reason lies in the fact that people with an internet addiction have weakened immune systems. They said the lack of communication with other people and less time spent outside exposing themselves to germs played a role.Past studies have also found people who spend more time online experience greater sleep disorder, have worse eating habits, engage in less exercise and tend to smoke and drink more alcohol. These behaviors can harm their immune system and increase chance to diseases.Professor Phil Read said, “We found that the impact of the internet on people's health was independent of a range of other factors, like depression, sleep deprivation, and loneliness, which are associated with high levels of internet use and also with poor health.”Researchers surveyed 500 people aged 18 to 101 years old. They found that thosewho reported problems with much use of the internet also suffered more cold and flu symptoms than those who spent less time online. Around 40 per cent of the sample reported mild or worse levels of internet addiction — a figure which did not differ between males and females. People who had greater levels of internet addiction had around 30 per cent more cold and flu symptoms than those with less internet usage. And researchers found people who are addicted to the internet may suffer from great stress when they are disconnected from the net. This cycle of stress and relief associated with internet addiction may lead to changes in levels of cortisol, a hormone that impacts on the immune system.1. What did researchers at the universities of Swansea and Milan find?A. An internet addiction makes people stronger.B. The lack of communication helps people.C . Less being exposed to germs harms people.D . The immune system improves by itself.2. Which of the following is NOT the result of high levels of internet use?A . Mental depression.B . Are you tired of being tired? Instead of relying on things like coffee or sugar for energy, get happy by eating more foods that give you energy through nourishment. Here are 4 foods that can help improve your energy levels.Hemp SeedsA complete protein, rich in fiber and omega-3s, hemp is a great low-glycemic addition to any diet. The glycemic index (GI) is a measurement of how fast the carbohydrates in food are broken down into glucose and how much it will affect your blood sugar. Fiber, fat and protein all lower the GI of a food, which is why hemp seeds (along with nuts, seeds, whole grains and legumes) are low-glycemic. Look for hemp seed oil for salad dressing, and hemp seeds to be added into salads.Soaked AlmondsRaw almonds are nutrient dense, and soaking them unlocks higher nutrition potential. Soaking increases vitamin levels and removes the enzyme that slow down digestion. I soak my almonds in water overnight (at least eight hours) and then dry them.QuinoaIt is 20-percent protein, making it a balanced source of carbohyd rates. It’s gluten-free(无谷蛋白) and rich in B vitamins, which help change carbohydrates into energy in your body. Even if you feel like you’re too busy to make homemade meals, quinoa is a fast food that cooks in less than 15 minutes.Green TeaCaffeine from green tea feels steadier and less sharp than the spike and crash with caffeine from coffee. This is likely because green tea contains L-theanine, a kind of acid found in tea that helps promote relaxation.1. What is the aim of the writer to write the passage?A. Introducing four foods to make people energetic.B . Finding reasons why people need some coffee.C . Reaching for something to get through the day.D . Eating more foods to get more nourishments.2. How can hemp seeds be prepared?A. They can be cooked with the oil.B. They can be eaten with the nuts.C. The can be mixed with the salad.D . They can be used to measure GI.3. Why did the writer get Almonds soaked?A . It helped increase the enzyme.B . It helped release the nutrition.C . It helped make digestion slow.D . It helped lock nutrient dense.4. Which ingredient in green tea makes people feel relaxed?A . The omega.B . The enzyme.C. The carbohydrate.D . The L-theanine.5. From the fourth paragraph we can know _____.A. The major problem he faces, as he told The Washington Post, is that marketers take his rules and use them against him.Buy products with five ingredients or fewer. Pollan says he and others have repeated the rule, “Don’t buy anything with more than five ingredients,” in hopes that people will purchase fresh produce and lean meats. Feeding off of this advice, though, Haagen Dazs started its five campaign. While the ice creams in this line have only five ingredients, those ingredients are high in sugar, fat, and calories. Plus, says Pollan, “They didn’t change anything…it was the same five ingredients they had before.” Pollan also discusses a commercial in which a woman compares Pringles to Tostitos, choosing the Tostitos chips because they have fewer ingredients. Both, however, are high-calorie, high-fat foods. The result is that the consumer is completely confused by clever marketingShop the edges of the supermarket. The advice to shop around the edges of the supermarket is supposed to lead shoppers toward fresh produce and lean meats, avoiding the fat processed foods in the middle aisles. But now, claims Pollan, makers of packaged food want to sell their products in that part of the supermarket as well.Supermarkets can make money by selling a variety of foods. “They can make as much money selling fresh produce as they can packaged goods,” Pollan says. Don’t buy anything advertised in commercials. “Anybody with that kind of marketing budget is selling packaged foods,” Pollan says.Pollan saw recently that Americans spend about 7 percent of their income on food. By contrast, China spends 33 percent of its income on food, France, 13.5 percent, and Japan, 14.2 percent. Americans seem to have this incapacity to spend more on food. He thinks it’s an enormous challenge. It wasn’t always this cheap. This was a matter of agriculture and technological breakthroughs.1. The underlined word “undermine” in the first paragra ph probably means _______.A . weakenB . strengthenC . enrichD . support2. Why did Pollan suggest people buy products with five ingredients or fewer?A. He wanted people to buy healthy foods.B . He wanted people to buy nutritious foods.C . He wanted people to buy packaged foods.D . He wanted people to buy colorful foods.3. When Pollan thought of the ice creams, he must feel ______.A . calmB . upsetC . curiousD . considerate4. What does the clever marketing do in order t o deal with Pollan’s strategies?A . They change the way of making food.B . They use fewer kinds of materials.C . They produce foods in many factories.D . They make the consumers believe them.5. 高考英语二轮复习:阅读——健康保健类(含答案)

高中英语阅读——健康保健类1、You know eating fruit and vegetables does good. But do you know it can also make you look good? People who increased their intake over just six weeks developed a healthy glow and appeared more attractive, researchers found. Scientists at St Andrews University found eating them slightly increased yellow and red pigments in the volunteers' skin. They monitored the food intake of 35 people and took pictures of their faces, arms and hands using a sensitive camera at the start, and after three and six weeks. Increasing their intake of greens by 2.9 portions a day was found to make the person look more healthy and an extra 3.3 portions could enhance their attractiveness, when their photographs were rated by others.Fruit and vegetables are rich in carotenoids(类胡萝卜素),which are known to protect against cell damage from pollution and UV rays, and can also prevent age-related diseases including heart disease and cancer. But while it was known eating extreme amounts of certain vegetables such as carrots could turn skin orange,it was not known a small increase was perceptible(被觉察)to others—and was seen as appealing.A camera measured changes to the skin's redness, yellowness and lightness, and found it significantly changed in people who naturally increased their intake. These changes were not evident in three weeks. Using light sensors, the researchers showed these red and yellow hues were linked with the levels of carotenoids in their skin. There are hundreds of carotenoids but those thought to have the most dramatic effect are lycopene(番茄红素)—which gives tomatoes and red peppers their red colour—and beta-carotene found in carrots as well as broccoli, squash, and spinach. Skin colour is also affected by chemicals called polyphenols(多元酚),found in apples, blueberries and cherries, which cause blood rush to the skin surface.【小题1】What do we know from the research?A.If you take in a little more fruit and vegetables, you will obviously look more attractive in three weeks.B.People who increased their intake of greens by 3.3 portions a day were found the most attractive after six weeks.C.Increasing your intake of greens by 2.9 portions a day can greatly improve your health.D.The researchers took the pictures of the 35 people in the research at different stages.【小题2】Which of the following is NOT the function of carotenoids?A.They can protect against cell damage from pollution and UV rays. B.They can prevent heart disease and cancer.C.They can keep you in good health.D.They can prevent age-related diseases.【小题3】Which of the statements is NOT TRUE according to the passage? A.We've already known eating extreme amounts of carrots can turn skin orange.B.We knew in the past that eating a few more carrots could make us look appealing.C.The research showed the improvement in skin is linked with the levels of carotenoids in it.D.Among hundreds of carotenoids, lycopene is thought to have the most dramatic effect【小题4】Which can be the best title of the passage?A.Eating fruit and vegetables does good.B.Eating fruit and vegetables makes you look good.C.How to become attractive?D.Fruit and vegetables are rich in carotenoids.2、Sleep deprivation(缺失)is an important hidden factor in lowering the achievement of school pupils, according to researchers carrying outinternational education tests. It is a particular problem in richer countries with sleep experts linking it to the use of mobile phones and computers in bedroom late at night. Sleep deprivation is such a serious problem that lessons have to be dragged down to a lower level to suit sleep-deprived learners, the study found. The international comparison, carried out by Boston College, found the United States to have the highest number of sleep-deprived students, with 73% of 9- and 10-year-olds and 80% of 13- and 14-year-olds identified by their teachers as being negatively affected. In literacy(读写能力) tests there were 76% of 9- and 10-year-olds lacking sleep. This was much higher than the international average of 47% of primary pupils needing more sleep and 57% among the secondary age group.Other countries with the most sleep-deprived youngsters were New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Australia, England, Ireland and France. High-performing Finland is also among the most lacking in sleep. Countries with the best records for getting enough sleep include Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Japan and Malta. The analysis was part of the huge date-gathering process for global education rankings, the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study(TIMSS)and Progress in International Reading Literacy Study(PIRLS) “I think we underestimate the impact of sleep. Our data show that across countries internationally, on average, children who have more sleep achieve higher in maths, science and reading. That is exactly what our data show,” says Chad Minnich of the TIMSS and PIRLS International Study Center.“It’s the same link for children who are lacking basic nutrition,” says Mr Minnich, based at the Lynch School of Education, Boston College. “If you are unable to concentrate, to attend mentally, you are unable to achieve at your best level, because your mind and body are in need of something more basic. Sleep is a fundamental need for all children. If teachers report such large proportions of children suffering from lack of slee p, it’s having a significantimpact. But worse than that, teachers are having to adjust their instruction based on those children who are suffering from a lack of sleep. The children who are suffering from a lack of sleep are driving down instruction.”That means that even the children who are getting enough sleep are still suffering from this sleep-related lowering.【小题1】What did the researchers of Boston College try to find?A.Why children don’t get enough sleepB.How many hours children sleep every nightC.The relationship between sleep and test resultsD.The relationship between sleep and health【小题2】Many children suffer from sleep deprivation because _________. A.Because they are disturbed by sleep-deprived studentsB.Because teaching is driven down by sleep-deprived students C.Because they have to spend time helping sleep-deprived students D.Because the teachers waste time disciplining sleep-deprived students3、The World Health Organization says there has been a sharp increase in the number of over-weight children in developing countries. In African countries, the WHO says the number of over-weight or obese children is twice as high as it was 20 years ago.Around the world, about 43 million childrenunder the age of five were overweight in 2013.Overweight and obese children are more likely to become overweight and obese adults. The condition can generate serious health problems like heart diseases.Francesco Branca is the director of the WHO Department of Nutrition for Health and Development. He says urban lifestyle makes people eat processed food more often, which has a high sugar, fat and salt content. He also says people are gaining weight because of their lack of activities. They travel in cars or other vehicles more than on foot. The WHO experts say to lower obesity rates is especially complex in countries that also deal with high rates of infectious diseases. The WHO has some basic solutions for individuals and countries. The organization says you should lower your intake of fat, sugar, salt and processed food and eat more fruits, vegetables and increase physical activity. The WHO says these actions are especially important for children. And WHO expert Branca says mothers should breastfeed their babies for at least the first six months of life, if possible.More importantly, governments should consider providing vitamins for children and educational campaigns about problems linked to obesity would also help.In his view, government policies should deal with how food is marketed to children and food producers must balance quality and taste with the dangers of sugar, fat and salt."Reducing the number of overweight children will not be easy. The goal is difficult to meet even in wealthy countries." he adds.【小题1】What is the main idea of Paragraph l?A.Overweight children in developing countries have increased greatly.B.Children in developing countries generally weigh too much.C.The number of overweight children in the world has doubled.D.The World Health Organization has increased greatly.【小题2】According to Branca, people are becoming overweight because of their changes in_______A.school educationB.transportationC.physical conditionD.lifestyles【小题3】The underlined word “generate” in Paragraph 2 probably means______.A.cureB.causeC.worsenD.prevent【小题4】We can learn from the last paragraph that ______.A.babies breastfed aren’t likely to become overweightB.food producers should be stopped from marketing, food to children C.governments should play a necessary role in fighting obesityD.the number of overweight children decreases easily in wealthy countries4、Why do Americans struggle with watching their weight, while the French, who consume rich food, continue to stay thin? Now a research by Cornell University suggests how life style and decisions about eating may affect weight. Researchers conclude that the French tend (易于) to stop eating when they feel full. However, Americans tend to stop when their plate is empty or their favorite TV show is over.According to Dr. Joseph Mercola, a health expert, the French see eating as an important part of their life style. They enjoy food and therefore spend a fairly long time at the table, while Americans see eating as something to be squeezed (挤出) between the other daily activities. Mercola believes Americans lose the ability to sense when they are actually full. So they keep eating long after the French would have stopped. In addition, he points out that Americans drive to huge supermarkets to buy canned and frozen foods for the week. The French, instead, tend to shop daily, walking to small shops andfarmers’ markets where they have a choice of fresh fruits, vegetables, and eggs as well as high-quality meats for each meal. After a visit to the United States, Mireille Guiliano, author of French Women Don’t Get Fat, decided to write about the importance of knowing when to stop rather than suggesting how to avoid food. Today she continues to stay slim and rarely goes to the gym.In spite of all these differences, evidence shows that recent life style changes may be affecting French eating habits. Today the rate of obesity - or extreme overweight - among adults is only 6%. However, as American fast food gains acceptance and the young reject (拒绝) older traditions, the obesity rate among French children has reached 17% - and is growing.【小题1】In what way are the French different from Americans according to Dr. Joseph Mercola?A.They go shopping at supermarkets more frequently.B.They regard eating as a key part of their life style.C.They squeeze eating between the other daily activities.D.They usually eat too much canned and frozen food.【小题2】This text is mainly about the relationship between ______. A.children and adults B.Americans and the FrenchC.life style and obesity D.fast food and overweight【小题3】Where does this text probably come from?A.A health report B.A book reviewC.A TV interview D.A food advertisement5、Diet Coke, diet Pepsi, diet pills, no-fat diet, vegetable diet… We are sur rounded by the word “diet” everywhere we look and listen. We have so easily been attracted by the promise and potential of diet products that we have stopped thinking about what diet products are doing to us. We are paying for products that harm us psychologically(心理上的)and physically.Diet products significantly weaken us psychologically. On one level, weare not allowing our brain to admit that our weight problems lie not in actually losing the weight, but in controlling the consumption of fatty, high-calorie, unhealthy foods. Diet products allow us to jump over the thinking stage and go straight for the scale(秤)instead. All we have to do is to swallow or recognize the word “diet” in food labels. On another level, diet products have greater psychological effects. Every time we have a zero-calorie drink, we are telling ourselves without our awareness that we don’t have to work to get results. Diet products make people believe that gain comes without pain, and that life can be without resistance and struggle. The danger of diet products lies not only in the psychological effects they have on us, but also in the physical harm that they cause. Diet foods can indirectly harm our bodies because consuming them instead of healthy foods means we are preventing our bodies from having basic nutrients(营养成分). Diet foods and diet pills contain zero calorie only because the diet industry has created chemicals to produce these wonder products. Diet products may not be nutritional, and the chemical that go into diet products are potentially dangerous. Now that we are aware of the effects that diet products have on us, it is time to seriously think about buying them. Losing weight lies in the power of minds, not in the power of chemicals. Once we realize this, we will be much better able to resist diet products, and therefore prevent the psychological harm that comes from using them.【小题1】From Paragraph 1, we learn that ________.A.diet products fail to bring out people’s potentialB.people are fed up with diet productsC.people have difficulty in choosing diet productsD.diet products are misleading people【小题2】One psychological effect of diet products is that people tend to_____.A.hesitate before they enjoy diet foodsB.pay attention to their own eating habitsC.watch their weight rather than their dietD.try out a variety of diet foods【小题3】The purpose of writing this passage is _________.A.to warn people of the side effect of diet productsB.to tell people how to lose weightC.to advise people to eat diet productsD.to introduce some diet products【小题4】Which of the following shows the structure(结构)of the passage?CP: Central Point P: Point Sp: Sub-point(次要点) C: Conclusion6、In many sports, physical contact(身体接触) is part of the game. But when athletes hit their heads, the hit can cause concussions(脑震荡).Concussions have long been a concern for professional athletes, but they’ve become more common among young players too. Between 2001 and 2009, the number of kids under 19 visiting doctors for concussions each year increased by 62 percent.Engineers are developing new helmets(头盔), and new rules are limiting physical contact in some sports. But are these efforts enough to protect kids’ brains?Concussions can happen during many types of activities. But sports like football and soccer are especially risky. When you run or jump, your body is moving at an increased speed. A sudden hit causes you to move faster in adifferent direction.“It’s like when you’re in a bus and it makes a sudden stop,” says Dr. Kevin Crutchfield, an expert at a sports concussion center in Baltimore, Maryland. “You hit the inside of the bus.”This hit damages the brain. It affects the way the brain functions. So some sports require athletes to wear helmets. Helmets help reduce the force of a hit. The hard outer shell spreads the force of larger area. Inside a helmet, a plastic or air-filled lining also helps soften the blow.Steve Rowson is an engineer at Virginia Tech. In his lab, he tests how helmets hold up against different types of hits. No helmet can prevent concussions completely, says Rowson. But he’s found t hat when wearing a newer football helmet, the player’s head doesn’t gain speed as much after a hit. That lowers the risk of concussions. Many youth sports teams have set limits on physical contact to reduce the risk of concussions. In soccer, most concussions happen as a result of headers—shots or passes made with the head. That’s why many people think kids shouldn’t head the ball until high school. These efforts should help, says Crutchfield. Yet, it turns out that overweight may damage cognitive functions such as memory and attention. Losing weight, therefore, may help improve these mental functions, according to a new research led by John Gunstad, assistant professor of psychology at Kent State University.Growing evidence suggests that being fat is linked to cognitive deficits (缺陷). So Gunstad and his team guessed that losing weight might improve mental function. For their study, they measured memory and attention in a group of 150 overweight participants, some of whom had some kind of operation for weight loss and some did not. All of the volunteers completed mental skills tests to assess their abilities of memory and attention at the beginning of the study, and again 12 weeks later. To begin with, about 24% ofthe patients showed damaged learning and 23% showed signs of poor memory when tested. At the end of the study, those who had lost weight after operation improved their scores into the average or above average range for cognitive functions. Scores for the volu nteers who didn’t lose weight dropped even further. The study helped Gunstad to find out whether losing weight had any effect on mental function. Now that he’s seen the positive effect that weight loss can have on memory and attention, he says he will next study those who choose to lose weight by the traditional way—eating healthier and getting more active. He expects that losing weight in this way will have a similarly positive effect on the brain. “If we can improve the condition with operations, then we can probably produce the same change with behavioral weight loss as well,” he says.【小题1】There is less research on overweight and cognitive functions because researchers _____.A. believe overweight only affects our bodyB. have focused on ways to shar pen people’s mindC. do not consider overweight a main cause for low cognitive abilityD. are clear about the relation between weight and mental functions【小题2】The result of Gunstad’s study shows that ______.A. losing weight has little effect on people’s memoryB. losing weight can improve people’s mental functionsC. overweight people are likely to have psychology problemsD. overweight people’s abilities of concentration differ greatly【小题3】What is Gunstad planning to prove next in his research?A. You are not alone. Holidays are times for feasting and celebrating. Many people are worried about their weight. With proper planning, though,it is possible to keep normal weight during the holidays.Whether it is celebrating at the office party or sitting down for the traditional family dinner, regard eating as a time for tasting a variety of the foods. The idea is to enjoy the holidays but not to eat too much. You don't have to turn away from the foods that you enjoy. Here are some tips for preventing weight gain and maintaining physical fitness:Don't skip meals. Before you leave home, have a small,low-fat meal or snack. This may help to avoid getting too excited before delicious foods.Control e a small plate (about 10 inches) and put aside the large ones that may encourage you to “load up.” You should be most comfortable eating an amount of food about the size of your fist. Once you have your “tasting” serving, move away from the buffet(自助餐). Fill up beforehand on water-based soup and raw fruit or vegetables. Or drink a large glass of water before you eat to help you feel full.Stick to physical activity. Don't let exercise take a break during the holidays. A 20-minute walk after a meal can help burn off excess calories.Avoid high-fat foods. This is not due to a lack of desire to socialize, but the smartphone. At parties, more people are on their smartphones than on their drinks. According to a recent International Data Corporation study, well over half of all Americans have a smartphone and reach for it the moment they wake up, keeping it in hand all day. In addition, too much of society is using smartphones while driving and as a result getting into car crashes. 34 percent of teens admit to text while driving, and they confirm that text messaging is their number one driving interruption. People's attachment to their smartphones is unbelievably becoming more important than the lives of themselves and others.Just as drivers dismiss the importance of focusing while on the road, many people also fail to recognize the significance of human interaction. When with their friends, some people pointlessly check or send text messages in the presence of a friend, which sends a message to that friend the person I am texting is more important than you. In addition, relying on our smartphone to make friends does not give us the same advantage as being able to make new friendships in the real world. Face-to-face conversations will give us much stronger communication skills in the long run.As many people risk their lives and the lives of people around them just to send a text or mindlessly check their massages, smartphones are in many ways more dangerous to people. The quality of this technology is de-advancing societal achievements and weakening the value of communication. Not only is the smartphone affecting our desire to interact (交流) face-to-face but it is also lowering society's ability to communicate.【小题1】The purpose of this text is to ______.A.call for an end to use the smartphone while drivingB.appeal to us to pay attention to communication skillsC.express concern about the overuse of the smartphoneD.advise us to be cautious about the addiction to the smartphone【小题2】The second paragraph is developed by ______.A.giving examplesB.listing figuresC.comparing factsD.analyzing the effects【小题3】The author advocates us to make new friends ______.A.by using smartphonesB.in a face-to-face wayC.in different waysD.under a free circumstance【小题4】Over dependence on the smartphone leads to the fact that ______. A.parties and gatherings limit their social circleB.people are more and more narrow-mindedC.people's communication skills are weakenedD.face-to-face communication becomes less important11、When we see well, we do not think about our eyes very often. It is only when we cannot see perfectly that we realize how important our eyes are.People who are near-sighted can only see things that are very close to their eyes. Everything else seems blurry. Many people who do a lot of work, such as writing, reading and sewing become near-sighted. People who are far-sighted suffer from just the opposite problem. They can see things that are far away, but they have difficulty in reading a book unless they hold it at arm’s length. If they want to do much reading, they must get glasses, too.Other people do not see clearly because their eyes are not exactly the right shape. They have what is called astigmatism (散光). This, too, can be corrected by glasses. Some people’s eyes become cloudy because of cataracts (白内障). Long ago these people often became blind. Now, however, it is possible to operate on the cataracts and remove them.Having two good eyes is important for judging distances. Each eye sees things from a slightly different angle. To prove this to yourself, look at an object。

错选:A或B。

While fighting world hunger continues to be the matter of vital importance according to a recent report from the World Health Organization (WHO), more people n ow die from being over weight, or say, from being extremely fat, than from being under weight. It’s the good life that’s more likely to kill us these days.Worse, nearly l8 million children under the age of five around the world are estimated to be over weigh t. What’s going on?We really don’t have many excuses for our weight problems. The dangers of the problem have been drilled into us by public-health campaigns since 2001 and the message isgetting through—up to a point. In the 1970s, Finland, for example, had the highest rate of heart disease in the world and being over weight was its main cause. Not anymore. A public-health campaign has greatly reduced the number of heart disease deaths by 80 per cent over the past three decades.Maybe that explains why the percentage of people in Finland taking diet pills doubled between 2001 and 2005, and doctors even offer surger y of removing fat inside and change the shape of the body. That has become a sort of fashion. No wonder it ranks as the world’s most body-conscious countr y.We know what we should be doing to lose weight—but actually doing it is another matter. By far the most popular excuse is not taking enough exercise. More than half of us admit we lack willpower.Others blame good food. They say: it’s just too inviting and it makes them overeat. Still others lay the blame on the Americans, complaining that pounds have piled on thanks to eating too much American-style fast food. Some also blame their parents—their genes. But unfortunately, the parents are wronged because they’re normal in shape, or rather slim. It’s a similar stor y around the world, although people are relatively unlikely to have tried to lose weight. Parents are eager to see their kids shape up. Do as I say—not as I do. (NMET 2013湖北)59. What is the “strange”point mentioned in the first sentence?A. The good life is a greater risk than the bad life.B. Star vation is taking more people’s lives in the world.C. WHO report shows people’s unawareness of foodsafety.D. Over weight issue remains unreso lved despite WHO’sefforts.60. Why does the author think that people have no excuse for being over weight?A. A lot of effective diet pills are available.B. Body image has nothing to do with good food.C. They have been made fully aware of its dangers.D. There are too many over weight people in the world.61. The example of Finland is used to illustrate ______.A. the cause of heart diseaseB. the fashion of body shapingC. the effectiveness of a campaignD. the histor y of a body-conscious countr y62. Which would be the best title for the passage?A. Actions or Excuses?B. Over weight or Under weight?C. WHO in a DilemmaD. No Longer Dying of Hunger(2)The morning had been a disaster. My tooth was aching, and I’d been in an argument with a friend. Her words still hurt: “The trouble with you is that you won’t put yourself in my place. Can’t you see things from my point of view?”I shook my head stubbornly—and felt the ache in my tooth. I’d thought I could hold out till my dentist ca me back from holiday, but the pain was really unbearable. I started calling the dentists in the phone book, but no one could see me immediately. Finally, at about lunchtime, I got lucky.“If you come by right now,”the receptionist said, “the dentist will fit you in.”I took my purse and keys and rushed to my car. But suddenly I began to doubt about the dentist. What kind of dentist would be so eager to treat someone at such short notice? Why wasn’t he as busy as the others?。

答:________________________________________________________________________答案医生最好能在自己的生病经历中真切体验做病人的感受;医生对患者的痛苦要感同身受,在病人的痛苦中认出自己的那份责任;“角色亲历”是严厉的心灵纪律,体现了高尚的人文情怀。
