The USA --American Beginning
Preface
Hello Class! In today's class we are going to deal with the first chapter on the history of the United States of America. As is known to all, America is a new nation and the product of the Western civilization. In fact, the American continent was first discovered by an Italian sailor called Christopher Columbus in 1492. And the United States was not officially founded until 1776 when 13 former British colonies rose up against the British Empire and fought a war for their independence. But, before we start, let's take the time to preview some of the questions regarding the history of the United States. Please see if you can answer the following questions. Please supply the correct answers, if you happen to know them, in the space bellow.

Around the year 1600 the first horses were brought to the American continent by the Spanish. Soon there were many wild horses across the country. The Native Americans caught and trained them and were then able to use them to carry their goods when they travelled from one camping ground to another. Now that they could ride horses, it became easier to hunt the bison, a type of cattle which used to exist in huge numbers on the plains of America. The bison grows to a shoulder-height of 1.5 metres and can weigh 1100 kilograms. It was an important part of Native American's existence. Bison were killed for their meat, while their fur provided warm clothing during cold winters. The skins were used for making tents and water containers. Bones were carved into needles and tools, and the teeth were used to make necklaces.

China’s NPC system is consist of many representatives elected from everywhere in china, while America’s government is also consists of elected people from different states. Though both two are democratic, they are still different in many ways.China has more than four times of population comparing to America. Several NPC members are elected from 1.3 billion people; they must be representative and capable enough. However, many of them are rich people. Though we require democratic, the absolute democratic is actually difficult to achieve. They are not able to care for people of every status. The NPC will be held once in 5 years, and during the 5 years, the power of government is used by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. While in America, the power of government is divided into three parts. They are the legislation part, whose name is the Congress, the president, and the judicial part, which is also described as 3 branches, whose name is the Supreme Court. For the power is divided into 3 parts, different parts have counterbalance against each other, the government can be democratic and just enough, though sometimes the division can cause many redundant procedures and make something more complex, which would make the government less efficiency. At least, the resident is the commander of the U.S. army. The president is able to command the army directly when the country is facing emergencies. There cannot be absolute democratic in the world.Sometimes even democratic can also be ridiculous and make awful decisions. We cannot be democratic in everything, but for now democratic is the most effective and fair way. There must be unavoidable troubles in each government, what we need to do is to find it, and then improve it.。
