On Thursday, Mr. Burke announced there would be a unit test the next day and anyone who didn’t pass would have to come to school on Saturday, most particularly me, since I didn’t pass the last unit test. I did plan to study just to prove to him that I was plenty smart which I was mostly except in math, which I’d be okay in if I’d memorize the multiplication table. Just when I was ready to study, Nicho, my fiveyearold brother, came into my room with our new rabbit and it jumped on my desk and knocked the flashcards all over the floor. I asked my mother to help me pick them up, but she said I was old enough to help myself. Anyway, Nicho and I took the rabbit outside and before long it was dinner. After dinner my father said I could watch a special on television if I’d done all my homework. Of course I said I had. That was the beginning. I felt terrible telling my father a lie about the homework so I couldn’t even enjoy the special. Not much was important in our family. My friend Plummer had to do well in school and he was smart in math. And Andy had so many family rules to follow. My parents didn’t bother making up a lot of rules. But we did have to tell the truth even if it was bad. You could imagine how I didn’t really enjoy the special and felt uneasy. It was nine o’clock when I got up to my room and that was too late to study for the test so I lay in bed with the light off and decided what I would do the next day. But when I thought about Mr. Burke, it seemed perfectly sensible to cheat. Not passing the test was such a terrible thing that I just forgot my parents’ big thing about telling the truth.

高考英语作文素材:做你自己 Be YourSelf

▁▂▃▄▅▆▇█▉▊▋▌精诚凝聚 =^_^= 成就梦想▁▂▃▄▅▆▇█▉▊▋▌做你自己(Be YourSelf)Be YourSelf In every school a “top” crowd sets the pace, while the others follow theirlead.Let’s say the top crowd decides that it is smart to wear bright red sweaters. Pretty soon everybody is wearing a bright red sweater. There is nothing wrong with that, except the fact that on some people a bright red sweater is extremely unbecoming. The situation can even become dangerous, if the top crowd decides that it is smart to drink or to drive cars at seventy miles an hour. Then the people who follow the lead are endangering their lives. They are like the sheep being led to the butcher. Now, chances are that you have come across situations like these more than once in your life; chances are that one time or another you probably did something you knew to be wrong. You may have excused yourself by saying, “Gee, the crowd does it.” Well, let the crowd do it, but don’t do it yourself. Learn to say, “No.”Develop your own standards and your own judgment. If you know the crowd is planning something you disagree with, have the courage to bow out politely. You’ll have the satisfaction of standing on your own two feet. Remember this in your heart, you are the unique one in the world, just be yourself.▃▄▅▆▇██■▓点亮心灯 ~~~///(^v^)\\\~~~ 照亮人生▃▄▅▆▇██■▓。
高考英语真题分类汇编—阅读理解—人与自我 做事(2016——2020)

阅读理解——人与自我做事Passage 1 2020 天津BB“They tell me that you’d like to make a statue(塑像)of me — is that correct, Miss Vinnie Ream?”The deep, gentle voice helped calm the nervous girl. Asking a favor of the President of the United States was no casual matter, especially for a seventeen-year-old girl.“Yes, sir,” she replied, her dark eyes meeting his. “I wouldn’t have dared to ask you, but my teacher, Mr. Mills, says I am ready. I plan to make it in an admirable manner. ”President Lincoln smiled. “Painters, sculptors — they’ve all tried to make the best of this ordinary face, but I’m afraid there’s not much hope. What did you have in mind, Miss Ream? A bust(半身像)?”Before Vinnie could say yes, the President hurried on, a shade of apology in his voice. “Of course — I shouldn’t have asked. A full-length pose would be much too big a project for a young woman your size. ”Vinnie’s face turned red. She realized she looked like a child, with her tiny figure. “Small does not mean weak, sir,” she defended herself. “I was born in the country of Wisconsin. I’ve driven teams of horses and carried water. Making a full-length clay(粘土)figure would not exhaust my strength — and that is what I intend to do!”The President’s eyes, brightened at her show of spirit. “Sorry, madam, I have underestimated you as I didn’t know your background. ”But his smile faded as he rubbed his beard with bony fingers, in thought. “Miss Ream,” he sighed, “I’d like to let you do it, but as you know, we are in the middle of a war. How could I possibly take the time to pose for a sculpture now? I hardly have a minute to myself. ”Vinnie glanced around and noted the size of his office. “I work quickly,” she said. Her voice was soft but confident as she pointed to the corner near the windows. “If I were to bring my clay here and work for three hours every afternoon, I could complete most of the project while you are at your desk. ”The President seemed to consider her idea seriously. He got up and shook Vinnie’s handwarmly, “I’ve heard that you are a talented young woman, and I have found you charming and intelligent as well. Most of his adult life has been a losing struggle against debt and misfortune. A war injury has made his left hand stop functioning, and he has often been in prison. Driven by heaven-knows-what motives,he determines to write a book. The book turns out to be one that has appealed to the world for more than 350 years. That former prisoner was Cervantes, and the book was Don Quixote(《堂吉诃德》). And the story poses an interesting question: why do some people discover new vitality and creativity to the end of their days, while others go to seed long before? We've all known people who run out of steam before they reach life's halfway mark. I'm not talking about those who fail to get to the top. We can't all get there. I'm talking about people who have stopped learning on growing because they have adopted the fixed attitudes and opinions that all too often come with passing years. Most of us, in fact, progressively narrow the variety of our lives. We succeed in our field of specialization and then become trapped in it. Nothing surprises us. We lose our sense of wonder. But,if we are willing to lean, the opportunities are everywhere. The things we learn in maturity seldom involve information and skills. We learn to bear with the things we can't change. We learn to avoid self-pity. We learn that however much we try to please, some people are never going to love us-an idea that troubles at first but is eventuallyrelaxing. With high motivation and enthusiasm,we can keep on learning. Then we will know how important it is to have meaning in our life. However, we can achieve meaning only if we have made a commitment to something larger than our own little egos(自我), whether to loved ones, to fellow humans, to work, or to some moral concept. Many of us equate(视…等同于)“commitment” with such “caring” occupations as teaching and nursing. But doing any ordinary job as well as one can is in itself an admirable commitment. People who work toward such excellence—whether they are driving a truck, or running a store-make the world better just by being the kind of people they are. They've learned life's most valuable lesson.51. The passage starts with the story of Cervantes to show that_________.A. loss of freedom stimulates one's creativityB. age is not a barrier to achieving one's goalC. misery inspires a man to fight against his fateD. disability cannot stop a man's pursuit of success52. What does the underlined part in Paragraph 3 probably mean?A. End one's struggle for liberty.B. Waste one's energy taking risks.C. Miss the opportunity to succeed.D. Lose the interest to continue learning.53. What could be inferred from Paragraph 4?A. Those who dare to try often get themselves trapped.B. Those who tend to think back can hardly go ahead.C. Opportunity favors those with a curious mind.D. Opportunity awaits those with a cautious mind.54. What does the author intend to tell us in Paragraph 5?A. A tough man can tolerate suffering.B. A wise man can live without self-pity.C. A man should try to satisfy people around him.D. A man should learn suitable ways to deal with life.55. What is the author's purpose in writing the passage?A. To provide guidance on leading a meaningful adult life.B. To stress the need of shouldering responsibilities at work.C. To state the importance of generating motivation for learning.D. To suggest a way of pursuing excellence in our lifelong career.。
人与自我作文英文高中

人与自我作文英文高中English:As a high school student, the concept of "self" hasbeen a constant companion in my journey of self-discovery and personal growth. The notion of the self is multifaceted, encompassing aspects of identity, personality, beliefs, and experiences. One aspect of the self that I've come to understand is its fluidity. We are not static beings; rather, we are constantly evolving and adapting to the world around us.For example, when I was younger, I used to be extremely shy and reserved in social situations. However, as I've grown older and gained more confidence in myself, I've become much more outgoing and sociable.Another important aspect of the self is its complexity. We are not defined by any single trait or characteristic, but rather by a combination of factors that make us uniqueindividuals. For instance, I may be introverted in some situations, but extroverted in others depending on the context. Moreover, the self is deeply intertwined with our experiences and relationships. Our interactions with others shape who we are and how we perceive ourselves. For example, a supportive friend or family member can boost our self-esteem and confidence, while a negative encounter may leave us feeling insecure or doubtful.Ultimately, the journey of self-discovery is a lifelong process. It involves introspection, reflection, and sometimes even struggle. However, it is through thisjourney that we come to truly understand ourselves and our place in the world.中文:作为一名高中生,"自我"的概念一直伴随着我自我发现和个人成长的旅程。

I knew I would have a beyondbusy summer, I would be a junior teacher for the Little Dragons Karate(空手道) Camp. And I had to do summer swim team. And Ollie and I already had two customers for our dogwalking business.“You might be biting off more than you can chew,” my mom said with a warning glimpse when I talked to her about it and announced, “I want to do everything!”“Don't worry.” I grinned, “I have strong teeth!”My mom smiled back. “In this case, it's your organi zational skills, not your teeth, that need to be strong.” I didn't take it to my heart. And the first week really was no problem. My friend Ollie was out of town and karate camp hadn't started, so my swim stuff was all I needed to worry about. The next wee k was great too. I swam, and a Little Dragon at karate camp told me I was his favorite teacher ever!I did learn, though, that staying organized with two activities was harder. My backpack was already stuffed with a towel and swim things, so I needed another for my karate clothing. Riding my bike from karate camp to the pool with two backpacks was a challenge. But I still had it under control until Ollie got back.“We’re late getting our business together!” he said. “We’ll have to spend every spare minute p reparing.”“But I don't have any spare minutes!” I said.“Did you forget we agreed to walk Alfie every Saturday? And Muffin on Tuesdays at 4:00?” Ollie asked. I couldn't let Ollie down, so I took out a third backpack and filled it with dog toys, treats, and plastic bags. I thought I was all set.But I was wrong! It didn't take long for my dogwalking stuff and karate stuff and swim stuff to get all mixed up, forgotten, or lost. One day, I forgot my karate backpack and had to borrow Emma's extra outfit, which was too tight. The next day, I remembered my karate stuff but forgot my swimsuit, so I had to help out in the snack shop and stay out of the pool all afternoon. And another time, when I reached into my dogwalking pack for plastic bags, all I could find were swim goggles(护目镜) and sunscreen.注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
【高考热点作文】概要写作原创练习—人与自我

【高考热点作文】概要写作原创练习—人与自我Discovering a lost brother① Kieron Graham always knew he had an older brother named Vincent. Though Kieron spent years thinking about him, he could never track him down.②That changed in December 2017, when Kieron’s adoptive parents gave him an AncestryDNA test as a Christmas gift. Kieron, now 21, sent his saliva (唾液) sample in for analysis. When his results came back, he was stunned to find he had a lot of DNA matches for relatives who had also taken the test. Most were distant connections, but one match was so strong that it was labeled “close family.” His name was Vincent Ghant. Kieron looked for him on Facebook and soon made a possible connection. “This is go ing to sound so wild … but I think you’re my brother,” Kieron wrote on Facebook’s Messenger app. “I was given up for adoption in 1997 and it says on my paperwork that my mother has a son with your name and your birth date. Her name is Shawn.”③“OMG do you know your real name?” wrote Vincent, now 30.④“I think it was Tyler.”⑤“OMG YES You are my brother.”⑥“Wow,” wrote Kieron.⑦“This is crazy,” said Vincent.⑧ The craziness was just beginning. As they talked, the brothers realized they lived about 20 minutes from each other. More surprising, they attended the same university and majored and minored in the same subjects: political science and legal studies.⑨ Vincent was nine when Kieron was born and remembers caring for his baby brother. But times were tough, and Shawn, who worked 15-plus hours a day as a nurse, decided that placing Kieron for adoption would give him the best chance to succeed.⑩“She was very emotional about that time, to the point where it was hard for her to put into words anything about what happened,” Vincent says.⑾ Now the brothers had the chance to make up for lost time. They decided to meet at a local tea shop that week.⑿One of Vincent’s concerns was that Kieron might resent his birth family for placing him for adoption. He was relieved Kieron didn’t, and that he’d grown up in a loving family.⒀ Since that first meeting, the brothers have bonded even more. They play football together and celebrated Christmas with their families. “We’ll keep growing our relationship until it’s time to leave this planet,” says Vincent. That shouldn’t be hard. As Kieron says, “We’ve got years and years to catch up on.”【文本解析】1. Main idea本文讲述了一对分开多年的兄弟重聚的故事。
