The Chinese Ministry of Agriculture finds that between 2005 - when the government started a soil-testing program which /that gives specific fertilizer recommendations to farmers - and 2011,fertilizer use dropped by 7.7 million tons. 代指物并作主语,关系词要用that/which. I'm not sure _____61_____ is more frightened, me or the female gorilla(大猩猩)that suddenly appears out of nowhere. We worked for the same company, and he retired two years before I was also considered “spare”, as some companies call it.Soon after I left work, we had lunch together. First, he assured me that there was life after work. Then he related his own experience. He did n’t want to take another full-time job, so he turned his daughter’s old bedroom into a home office. He arranged for some consulting work from our old company, and he picked up more projects from other contacts. Soon he was working 20 to 30 hours a week. He wasn’t making as much money. His kids were grown-up, so he didn’t need as much income. “As soon as I left that job,” he told me, “my back problems went away. I started to eat better and getmore exercise, I make half as much money, but I feel twice as goo d, and I’m twice as happy.”I decided to follow a similar track. At the time, my younger child almost finished college, so my parental responsibilities were winding down. We sold our old house and moved into a townhouse. I went to work for myself. And the result? Today I, too, make less money. But we make ends meet. And I feel twice as good and twice as happy. Our experience isn’t for everybody. But a lot of people have retired early and lived to tell the tale, which proves it possible. Jack, another friend, was a salesman for a communication firm. He had a long distance to work and did a lot of traveling. He decided to leave the corporate world, in part because he had health problems and he wanted to spend more time with his family. Later, he quit his job with flexible hours and was restored to his health. The two founders claimed it was the “finest news source” in the US. 25 years late r, the news has become one of the most established media presences in the US. But don’t expect accuracy and timeliness from it, because The Onion only publishes fake news or news satire . Its aim is to make readers laugh and see things from a different angle. Will Tracy, The Onion’s editor-in-chief, told the NPR in an interview. “The stories are presented in that sort of news voice which improves the news to a certain level of importance. The news isn’t actually understandable but it has an ability to eleg antly locate a problem with concise and plain words.” For example, when George W. Bush became the US president in 2001, The Onion published a satire piece predicting massive debt and a huge growth in military spending. The headline said it all—Bush: “Our l ong national nightmare of peace and prosperity is finally over”.Traditional media outlets are cautious when reporting sensitive topicssuch as religion and race. Tracy says/‘Nothing is off limits for The Onion, no matter how uncomfortable they may make s ome readers.” But editors at The Onion do stand a fine line, as Tracy explains: “What you have to be really careful about is what the target of the joke is. If the target of the joke is wrong, then it doesn’t feel right and it also doesn’t feel funny.” The Onion made the public outrageous when earlier this year, it tried to make fun of a 9-year-old Oscar-nominated actress by using highly impolite language. K.The Institute of Economic Affairs found that the average cost for a “wide range” of healthy foods was about £ 2 per kilogram, compared with £ 3 a kilogram for less-healthy products such as processed and ready-made foods.Still, study after study finds that cost is often a barrier when it comes to healthy eating. Convenience drives consumers to care about habits more than prices, the U. K. study concluded. T aste and convenience often play a larger role in people’s food choices than price or nutritional quality.“Processed foods are extremely expensive, especially when it comes to the nutrient value. Some of the healthiest, most inexpensive foods aren’t so attractive. Beans cost next to nothing, especially when bought dry and in great amounts. They take time and some skills to prepare. ” said Ciara Foy, a nutritionist.Instead, busy parents reach for the chicken. “You migh t be getting something that has enough calories to fill you up but you’re actually not getting any nutrients, so your body’s going to keep wanting more and more food,” said Foy. “And that’s why in North America we, re overfed and undernourished .”Makers tend to try to promote their product based on perceived health benefits, which makes consumers confused at times with what is a healthyproduct and how much you should pay for those benefits. The most expensive items, healthy or not, are the ones that end up in the trash. “A lot of people waste a lot of food,” Foy said. It’s estimated that more than $ 30 billion of food is wasted in Canada every year. Foy recommends taking a look in your fridge to see what needs to be used up when planning for the next nigh t’s meals. “If you actually cut down on the waste you’ll find that you can afford healthy food,” Foy said.(1)In the author’s opinion, people choose junk food mainly because of its .A . quality and tasteB . price and nutritionC . taste and convenienceD . advertisement and nutrition(2)Why are beans unpopular with some people? I don’t mind her criticizing me, but is how she does it that I object to.A. itB. thatC. thisD. which【答案】A【解析】强调句型是It is+被强调部分+that+其他,强调句可去掉it is与that还原句子。

本句相当于...,but I object to how she does it。

2. As the busiest woman in Norton, she made_________ her duty to look after all the other people’saffairs in that town.A. thisB. thatC.oneD.it【答案】D【考点解读】it的重要句型1.强调句① It is/was + 被强调部分 + that/who ...

It was about 600 years ago that the first clock with a face and an hour hand was made.It was they that (who ) cleaned the classroom yesterday. It was in the street that I met her father. It was yesterday that I met her in the street. It is you that /who are wrong.I think it was Jack said this.(其中省略了who 或that)What is it you want me to do?(it 后省略了that)①It is not until + 被强调部分 + that ...

It was not until she took off her dark glasses that I realized she was a famous film star. = Not until she took off her dark glasses did I realize she was a famous film star. = I didn’t realize she was a famous film star until she took off her dark glasses.强调句型的两种变形形式:一般疑问句形式:Is/ Was it …that…?特殊疑问句形式:Who/ Whom /When/ When 等+ is/ was it that …?1)Was it in 1979 ______ the American astronaut succeeded ______ landing on the moon?A. when; onB. that; onC. when; inD. that; in (Key:D)2)Was ______ that I saw last night at the concert?A. it youB. not youC. youD. that yourself (Key : A)3)Who was it that you met in the street yesterday? Where was it that you met Jack yesterday?

It was already 8o’clock when we got home.It will be midnight when they get there. It was five o’clock in the afternoon _____ they climbed up to the top of the mountain. It was at five o’clock in the afternoon _____ they climbed up to the top of the mountain.A. sinceB. whenC. thatD. until3.It +is/has been+一段时间+ since-clause这个句型表示从since从句谓语动作发生以后到现在或过去所经过的一段时间,意为"自从……以来已多久了"since 从句后用一般过去时,例如:It is/has been three years since his father passed away.

It is/has been fifteen years since she left Shanghai. 4. ①It is time ( about time ,high time ) that ... It is time that children went to bed.It is time you bought a new car.It is (high ) time you made up your mind.②It is the first ( second ... ) time that ...

It is the first time I have been here. = This is the first time I have been here.It was the fifth time(that)I had paid a friendly visit to Africa.5.It +be的适当形式+一段时间+before-clause这个句型中的时间一般为表示一段时间的词语(如:long,years,months,weeks,days , hours, minutes),主句中的谓语动词用肯定式,意为"过多长时间才……"。

主句的时态可用过去时was或将来时 will be;用was时,before从句的动词用一般过去时;用will be时,before从句常用一般现在时。

例如:It was not long before she learned those poems by heart .

It was long before the police arrived.

It will be hours before he makes a decision.

It will not be hours before we meet again.

6. It looks ( seems ) as if ...

It looks as if he is ill.(真的病了)It looks as if he were ill. (没有生病)It seemed as if he were dying.1. -I’ve read another book this week.-Well, maybe _____ is not how much you read but what you read that counts.A. thisB. thatC. thereD. it2.If I can help_______, I don’t like working late into the night.A. soB. thatC.it D. them3. _______ felt funny watching myself on TV.A. OneB. ThisC. ItD. That4._______ worries me the way he keeps changing his mind.A. ThisB. ThatC. WhatD.

我在这,总结在哪儿?________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________。
