This scheme provides for a maximum of 1000 Chinese citizens per year to enter New Zealand and engage in tourism and temporary employment. A Chinese citizen who meets the specific requirements will be granted a one year work visa. How long is the work visa valid for and can it be extended?First entry to New Zealand must be made within 12 months of the visa being granted. The visa will allow work and multiple entries to New Zealand for 12 months from first arrival. Participants in this scheme cannot be granted a further work visa under the same scheme.What is the difference between work visas approved under the working holiday scheme and work visas approved under any other category?The objective of working holiday schemes is to allow young citizens of approved countries, whose primary intention is to holiday in New Zealand. For this reason, participants in this scheme must not undertake permanent employment, nor work for the same employer for a period exceeding three months. However, they can undertake one or more courses of training or study of up to 3 months' duration in total during their visit.Available fundsYou must show Immigration New Zealand that you have at least NZ$4,200 available funds for your maintenance during the period of stay in New Zealand. You may be asked to provide evidence that you still have the funds when you arrive at the border.Onward travel arrangementsYou must show Immigration New Zealand that you have made travel arrangements to leave New Zealand at the end of your stay. You can show this by providing a copy of your airline ticket or sufficient funds to purchase a ticket. The funds for travel arrangements are in addition to the $4,200 funds for maintenance.
