描写辩论赛的英语作文Debate Competition。

Debate is a formal contest in which the affirmative and negative sides of a proposition are advocated by opposing speakers. It is an important activity in school and college life. Recently, our school held a debate competition, andit was a great success. The debate competition was organized by the English Language Club, and it was open to all students from different grades. The topic for the debate was "Should homework be abolished?" This topic was chosen because it is a relevant and controversial issue that affects students' daily lives. The competition was held in the school auditorium, and it was well-attended by students, teachers, and parents. The atmosphere was electric as the two teams, the affirmative and the negative, prepared to engage in abattle of words. The affirmative team argued that homework should be abolished because it puts too much pressure on students and takes away their free time. They also pointed out that homework is often a source of stress and anxiety for students, and it does not necessarily lead to better academic performance. On the other hand, the negative team argued that homework is an important part of the learning process and helps students to reinforce what they have learned in class. They also emphasized that homework teaches students important skills such as time management and self-discipline.The debate was intense and thought-provoking, with both teams presenting strong and persuasive arguments. The audience was actively engaged, and there were moments of applause and laughter as the speakers made their points. After the debate, the judges, who were teachers fromthe English Language Club, announced the results. The negative team emerged as the winners, but it was a close call as both teams had performed exceptionally well. The debate competition was a great learning experience for everyone involved. It helped students to develop their critical thinking and public speaking skills, and it also encouraged them to research and analyze different perspectives on a given topic. In conclusion, the debate competition was a resounding success. It provided a platform for students to express their opinions and engage in intellectual discourse. It also showcased the talent and potential of our students, and we look forward to organizing more such events in the future.。

英语作文关于向学生会主席说参加英语辩论赛全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1Dear Student Council President,My name is Jamie and I'm a 5th grader here at Oakwood Elementary. I'm writing to you today because I really want our school to enter a team in the upcoming Citywide English Debate Tournament. I think it would be an amazing opportunity for us students to showcase our English skills and represent Oakwood! You're probably wondering why I care so much about this debate competition. Well, I absolutely love public speaking and putting together persuasive arguments. I've been practicing my English debating skills with my parents and older sister for years. We have these big family debates over silly topics like whether chocolate or vanilla ice cream is better. I always take the side I actually disagree with to make it more challenging! My parents say I was a little chatterbox from the moment I started talking. I just never ran out of things to say or questions to ask. I'm sure my kindergarten teacher wanted to put a mute button on me some days! Speaking in front of people has nevermade me nervous though. I actually get a rush from it. There's something so exhilarating about clearly laying out your perspective and convincing others to see things your way.In 3rd grade, I joined our school's Speech and Debate Club as soon as I could. Mr. Franklin, the club advisor, has helped me take my skills to the next level. We've worked on research tactics, structuring arguments, rebuttal strategies, you name it. He says I'm a natural and should seriously consider becoming a lawyer when I grow up. While that career could be pretty cool, my biggest dream is to become a politician and elected official someday. I want to speak up for people and make the world a better place! That's a big part of why this English debate matters so much to me. English is honestly like a third language for me after Spanish and the made-up twin language only my brother and I speak. But it's also the world's most widely used language. If I want to be a leader on a larger scale and communicate with people across the globe, I need to be able to argue my points masterfully in English. This debate tournament would allow me to put my English skills to the ultimate test on a big stage.I know our school has an incredibly talented and diverse set of students. We have kids from all over the world with amazinglanguage abilities. I've already run it by some of my friends, and there's a ton of interest in forming an English debate team if you approve it. We're all totally devoted to practicing and preparing as much as it takes to be competitive.Mr. Franklin has said he would be happy to coach us and make sure we're ready. He's worked with the middle and high school debate teams before and knows what it takes to win. I've seen them practice, and it's intense! We would stick to that same level of commitment and rigor. Our meetings would be focused and productive, not just a chance to hang out. There are so many reasons why being part of this debate experience would be invaluable for Oakwood students:It would push us to greatly improve our English fluency, public speaking presence, and critical thinking abilities. These are assets that will help us succeed in every class and life endeavor. We would gain appreciation for other cultures and perspectives as we research various topics from multiple angles. This cultural awareness is keeping with Oakwood's values. It allows our school to be represented on a big stage and shows off the talent within our community. Winning could bring a sense of pride! We could work as a team and build awesome friendships through our shared commitment to the debate activities. The team bonding would be so fun.It would provide leadership opportunities as well. For example, I would love to assist in coaching our team's newcomers and passing along what I've learned. Those are just some of the major benefits I see. I utterly believe participating in this debate tournament could be a complete game-changer for our school and students. It would open so many doors and help set us up for future success.Of course, I know there are obstacles to making this happen. First off, it will require funding that our school may not have readily available. The tournament entry fees, transportation, supplies, and coaching resources add up. However, I'm confident we could fundraise and/or apply for grants to cover those costs if you allow us to move forward. There are lots of organizations that donate money to support extracurricular academics.Additionally, there's the time commitment outside of normal school hours for meetings, practices, and the actual tournament dates. But as I mentioned before, my peers are willing to make that sacrifice because we care about this so much. We understand the hard work required.Lastly, you may be wondering about our chances of actually being competitive. While it's true we'll be going up against schools that have more experienced debate teams, I don't think that's a reason not to try. You have to start somewhere, right? This would be incredible practice for us. And who knows, we could end up shocking everyone with our skills! We're brilliant kids and I know we'd dedicate ourselves fully to this. With the right guidance from Mr. Franklin, I truly believe we could hang with the best of the best.So in conclusion, I'm begging you to approve the formation of an Oakwood Elementary English Debate Team. We're absolutely brimming with motivation and potential. This would allow us to showcase our talents on a big stage while learning invaluable skills for our future paths. It's a rare opportunity that could massively pay off for our school community.I'd be honored to lead the team as captain, but of course the final decisions would come down to tryouts and team voting. Either way, I vow to give this my all and make Oakwood proud! I really think this debate team could leave a legacy and open doors for future students as well.Thank you so much for considering my request. If you have any other questions or concerns, I'm happy to discuss further. I'llawait your response with loads of eager anticipation! Let's go get 'em, Oakwood!Sincerely,Jamie Moore5th Grader, Future English Debate Team Captain (Fingers Crossed!)篇2Dear Student Council President,My name is Jamie and I'm a 5th grader here at Oakwood Elementary. I'm really excited about the opportunity to participate in the upcoming English Debate Tournament, and I wanted to share my thoughts with you on why our school should send a team.First of all, I think it's an amazing chance for us students to practice our English skills in a fun and engaging way. In class, we often do grammar exercises, read passages, and answer comprehension questions. While those activities are important, they can sometimes feel a bit repetitive and dry. A debate tournament allows us to use our English in a more dynamic, interactive manner where we get to think critically, articulate arguments, and respond to others' points of view.Preparing for and participating in a debate will help strengthen so many crucial skills beyond just language learning too. We'll have to thoroughly research our topics in order to build strong cases. This research process exercises skills like finding credible sources, taking notes, and synthesizing information. As we develop our arguments, we'll work on logical reasoning, structuring ideas coherently, and anticipating counterpoints. Then during the actual debates, we'll practice incredible soft skills like public speaking, thinking on our feet, and maintaining poise under pressure. These abilities are so valuable not just for academics, but they'll serve us well in any future career or life endeavor where we need to communicate with confidence and clarity.Friendly competition can also teach critical lessons about being a good sport, learning from losses, and how to receive constructive criticism. Win or lose, going through this experience will be incredibly formative for all of us.I understand that there are costs associated with registering for the tournament, potentially renting transportation, andproviding snacks for our team. However, I truly believe the long-term benefits to our personal growth and enrichment as students make this a worthy investment. Perhaps we could dosome fundraising activities like bake sales or car washes to help cover the expenses if needed.Participating in this debate tournament isn't just about a možai pot or trophies. It's an opportunity to challenge ourselves, get out of our comfort zones, and grow as students and people. I'm prepared to work incredibly hard alongside my teammates if you allow us to represent Oakwood Elementary. We may be young, but we're capable of great things when we set our minds to it.I've always been proud to be an Oakwood Oak, and I know our school community will rally behind our debate team. With your approval and support, we'll do everything we can to make Oakwood proud with our skills and sportsmanship. In terms of next steps, I'd be happy to gather a list of interested students to form a debate club. We can start meeting weekly after school to begin researching potential topics and practicing our debate skills. With enough preparation time, I'm confident we could put together an impressive showing at the tournament. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I'm absolutely committed to representing our school with integrity and leaving it all on the debate floor. Thank you for your consideration on this exciting opportunity!Sincerely,Jamie5th Grader, Oakwood Elementary篇3Dear Student Council President,My name is Jamie and I'm a 5th grader at Oakwood Elementary School. I'm writing to you today because I really want to join the English Debate Club, but I need your help to make it happen. You see, I love speaking English. It's my favorite subject in school and I'm always getting complimented by my English teacher, Mrs. Roberts, on how well I speak and write it. My parents immigrated to this country from China when I was just a baby, so English is like my first language even though we still speak Chinese at home sometimes.Last year, I discovered that our school has an English Debate Club, but it's only for 6th-8th graders right now. I was so disappointed because I've always dreamed of being part of a debate team. I love researching topics, forming arguments, and presenting my ideas out loud. It combines my favorite things - English, public speaking, and friendly competition! When I talked to Mrs. Roberts about it, she said I'm an exceptional English student for my age. She thinks I would be a great addition to the debate team and is willing to vouch for my skills. But she said I need to get special permission from you and the student council since I'm still in elementary school. That's why I'm writing this letter to plead my case. Here are a few reasons why you should consider letting me join the English Debate Club this year:My English skills are already above grade level. I read, write, and speak like a middle schooler according to my standardized test scores. Debating in English would be an amazing way to challenge my abilities further.I'm extremely responsible and mature for my age. I turn in all my assignments on time, I follow rules, and I'm ready to take debating seriously through preparation and practice. I may be younger, but I'll work twice as hard as anyone else.Debating will help build up other useful life skills like public speaking, logic/reasoning, research abilities, and confidence. It will make me a well-rounded student beyond just academics. If they let me join this year while I'm still in 5th grade, it will increase my chances of being a strong debater by the time I get to middle school. I'll have that extra year of experience under my belt.Diversity is important for any club or organization. While I may be the youngest, I can bring a unique perspective and viewpoint as an elementary student. My different experiences will make the debates more enriching for everyone. Finally, I'm just really, really passionate about this! Debating is my dream and I'll pour my heart into it. I have so many ideas I've been holding inside that I can't wait to share and debate about. Please let me be part of the team!I know you're probably wondering about transportation and supervision issues since I'm younger. My parents are working people, but they're willing to pick me up from practice whenever needed. They fully support my interest in debating and want to make it happen. Mrs. Roberts has also offered to stay after school to monitor me at meetings. She believes in me and wants to see me grow in this activity.I've also already started practicing my debate skills at home. My poor parents have had to endure countless arguments from me about why I deserve a phone, why I should stay up past my bedtime, and why I definitely need that new video game. Hopefully that glimpse into my zeer persuasivenesses convinces you I was born to be a debater! In conclusion, I'm asking from the bottom of my heart to please consider my application to join the English Debate Club this school year. It would mean everything to me. I was born to stand up and defend a viewpoint through powerful speech and logic. I may be younger than most, but I have the motivation and maturity to be a strong contributor. Just give me a chance to prove myself!Thank you for your time, consideration, and service as our student council president. I look forward to hearing your decision. If you have any other questions, I'll be happy to further plead my case in person!Sincerely,JamieAspiring English Debater。

辩论赛的高中英语作文Debate competitions have long been a staple of the high school experience, providing students with a platform to hone their critical thinking, public speaking, and argumentation skills. These events not only challenge participants to delve deep into complex issues but also foster a sense of camaraderie and intellectual stimulation among their peers. As a high school student, I have had the privilege of participating in several debate tournaments, and the experience has been truly transformative. One of the most significant benefits of debate competitions is the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of current events and global issues. In the process of researching and preparing for a debate, students are compelled to explore multiple perspectives on a given topic, analyze the underlying factors, and formulate well-reasoned arguments. This exercise not only expands their knowledge but also encourages them to think critically and challenge their own preconceptions. Moreover, debate competitions offer a unique chance for students tosharpen their public speaking abilities. The pressure of delivering a persuasive speech in front of a panel of judges and a room full of peers can be daunting, but it also serves as a powerful catalyst for growth. As students become more comfortable with public speaking, they gain confidence in their ability to effectively communicate their ideas and engage with their audience.Another crucial aspect of debate competitions is the development of strong argumentation skills. Participants must learn to construct logical, well-supported arguments, anticipate and address counterarguments, and respond to questions and challenges from their opponents. This process not only hones their critical thinking abilities but also teaches them the art of persuasion, a skill that will serve them well in various aspects of their lives, from academic pursuits to future careers.Beyond the individual benefits, debate competitions also foster a sense of community and camaraderie among participants. Students from different schools and backgrounds come together to engage in intellectual discourse, share their perspectives, and learn from one another. This collaborative environment encourages the exchange of ideas, the formation of new friendships, and the cultivation of a shared passion for learning and intellectual growth.Furthermore, the competitive nature of debate tournaments instills aspirit of healthy competition and sportsmanship among the participants. Students learn to respect their opponents, to gracefully accept defeat, and to celebrate the success of their peers. This experience not only teaches valuable life lessons but also prepares them for the challenges they may face in the future, where the ability to navigate competitive environments and maintain a positive attitude will be crucial. In addition to the personal and social benefits, debate competitions also have a broader impact on the educational system. By providing a platform for students to engage with complex issues and develop critical thinking skills, these events contribute to the overall quality of education and the development of well-rounded, intellectually curious individuals. Schools that actively encourage and support debate programs often see a positive impact on academic performance, college admission rates, and the overall engagement and enthusiasm of their student body.Despite the many advantages of debate competitions, it is important to acknowledge that they are not without their challenges. The intense preparation required, the pressure of public speaking, and the competitive nature of the events can be daunting for some students. Additionally, access to debate programs and resources may not be equally distributed, creating disparities in opportunities for students from different socioeconomic backgrounds. To address these challenges, schools and debate organizations should strive to create a more inclusive and supportive environment, providing resources and training to help students overcome their fears and develop the necessary skills. Mentorship programs, workshops, and financial assistance can all play a role in ensuring that debate competitions are accessible and beneficial to a diverse range of students. In conclusion, high school debate competitions are a powerful tool for fostering intellectual growth, developing critical thinking and communication skills, and cultivating a sense of community and sportsmanship. While the challenges of these events should not be overlooked, the benefits they offer are truly transformative, shaping the minds and characters of the next generation of leaders and thinkers. As a high school student, I have witnessed firsthand the profound impact that debate competitions can have, and I firmly believe that they should be embraced and supported by educational institutions and communities alike.。

Uniforms not only promote a sense of unity and equality among students, but they also help to minimize distractions and reduce the pressure to keep up with the latest fashion trends. Wearing uniforms encourages a focus on academic achievement and personal development, rather than allowing students to be judged based on their choice of clothing. Additionally, uniforms can help to prevent instances of bullying and enhance school safety by making it easier to identify students within the school grounds. Overall, implementing a mandatory uniform policy in high schools can contribute to a more positive and productive learning environment.中文翻译: 作为这场辩论的参与者,我坚信高中学生应该被要求穿校服。
