Good afternoon everyone. Thank you very much for coming to our presentation. Let me introduce the four members in our group. I am ----, the other three are ----. Today we would like to introduce a movie—The Pursuit of Happyness. Do you find the “Happyness”is spelt falsely? Actually, the spelling mistake is deliberate. The director just want to tell us that there is no Y（why）in happiness, there is I. It is a typical American inspirational story. I’m going to outline four proposals. Firstly, I’ll introduce the background of this movie. Secondly, I’d like to talk about the plot. Then, I’d like to explain its idea. And finally, I will talk about the father-son relationship.

Let’s move on to the first point. The movie is based on the real experience of Chris Gardner who is the famous American black investment expert now. The story happened in San Francisco, in 1981 when the Global Financial Crisis caused by the Subprime Crisis of America broke out. Touched by the script adapted from the real biography, the famous actor Will Smith decided to enact the hero. Jaden Smith played Christopher, the son of Chris Gardner. It is worth mentioning that Jaden is the son of Will in real life. Due to true feelings, they have wonderful interactive show in the movie.

Now let’s move on to the second point.Chris Gardn er, who met his father first time when he was 28, resolved

to be a good father. However, he failed in his career and lived a down-and-out life. He had to rush about in hospitals everyday and make a living by selling bone-density scanner s. Accidently, he realized that if you are good at figure and interpersonal relationship, you can be a stock broker even without college diploma. By virtue of his persistence, intellige nce and the help of a small magic cube, he got an opportu nity of internship in Dean Witter. But he must work withou t pay for six months and only one of the twenty interns w ould be employed. At the same time, his wife went to New York alone because she couldn’t bear the poor life. Unable to pay his rent, he and his son were forced to stay in a bathroom at a train station and queued for the shelter offe red by a church after work. Because of the extreme povert y, he even went to sell blood. Faced with so miserable life, he never gave up. Due to his endeavor, he finally gained t he job.

Now let’s begin the third point. The theme of the m ovie is the pursuit of dreams. In this movie, we can see Ch ris ran more than once. He ran after a hippie girl and an o ld vagrant to get back his apparatus which was the only re source of income; he ran to Dean Witter for the hard-won
