Agree or disagree? If child want to do well in school, parents should limit the hours of watching TV programs or movies.

Some people say that in order to promote children’s school performance, parentsshould limit their hours of watching TV programs and movies. Admittedly, it is notuncommon that nowadays the contents on TV and movies are involved with aconsiderable number of violence and sex, which do nothing but harm the healthygrowing of a child in both physical and mental. It is no doubt that with the limitationof children’s time of contacting TV programs or movies, the chance that they get intouch with these unsound contents will at the same time reduce.

However, I strongly hold the view of point that limit chil d’s hours of watching TVprograms and movies

is not the best way to enhance a child’s school performance,even not a good approach, which under well control, watching TV programs andmovies may significantly benefit a child’s growing as well as school performance.There are several conspicuous factors at following.

To begin with, I would have to say that limiting child’s hours of watching TV andmovies also make child less possible to get access to some outstanding TV programsand movies, which have a vital benefit to a child’s school performance. Take TVprograms Natural Geography for instance, it is really an impressive TV programswhich not only wide a child’s field of view, but also motivate a child to thinkindependently and critically, which will on turn imp rove a child’s school performancesignificantly. Besides, inspiring movies like Frost Gamp and A Brave Heart also playan important role in a child’s growing as well as his school performance.

As well all know, watching sporting like an Olympic game will enlighten a childrenwith a spirit of hard working and competition, listening to a piece of

classical musicmay mold a child’s mild temper, and watching news report will establish a child’ssolid foundation of social belonging. All of these mentioned above ar e significant fora child’s growing, and at the same time goes a long way with a child’s schoolperformance.

What’s more, if children’s hours of watching TV programs and movies are limited, Iam concerned that children may spend their free time doing other business which arepointless or even harmful since parents of our time are usually very busy daytimefighting for their living and they seem to have little to take care of their children allthe time. For instance, it is more meaningful for a child to watch some Disney cartoonlike Mickey Mouse than to let him play computer game. Ultimately, watching Disneycartoon will leave a child with an amazing childhood, but playing computer merewasting time as well as harming a child’s school performance.
