What is Beijing Spirit? Even a little boy can tell------it is Patriotism, Innovation,
Inclusion and Social Morals. Yes, Beijing Spirit contains the four aspects which were
selected by most Beijing residents as the most important spirit of Beijing. Hence it
was established officially by Beijing municipality as the social core value in
November 2nd, 2011.
Literately, we can easily know the basic meaning of Beijing Spirit. Patriotism is
to love our country and our city; Innovation is to think or act from a different view;
Inclusion is to respect the diversity and Social Morals are honesty and integrity.
Some people say, “Youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind.” But I don’t
believe it. Youth, of course, is a state of mind. However, it is also a state of body and
energy. Only a few people can accomplish great achievement with young mind but
old and sick body. Hence, as long as we are young, we need to strive for big
breakthrough of ourselves.
Now, I think the most wonderful thing is that we are young, and we meet with
Beijing Spirit at this beautiful stage. Therefore, as a youth, I think we should conduct
the spirit from the followings: patriotism is the first important. Loving China and our
city is not a slogan; it needs action. We need to locate ourselves and dedicate to
achieving our goals. Future Beijing needs elite who can beatify it. So, why not be one
of the elite. Of course, honest and upright men are a must for our new Beijing. The
future Beijing should not be in the hand of villain. Besides, we should respect
different cultures and their differences and seek for the common ground. Last but not
the least, it is innovation. Steve Jobs says,” Innovation distinguishes between a leader
and a follower.” In order to live in the fast moving world, we, especially the youth,
must have an innovative brain. Innovation can bring a new blood to our career and
life.
At last, please allow me to say, “Beijing Spirit is important to us, but the most
important is to follow it and utilize it to realize our dreams.” If we youth are
ambitious, aggressive and innovative, Beijing will be more influencing and charming
in the future! And it is all because of us.
