英语基础语法：过去进行时

一、构成方法
过去进行时由 was/were 加现在分词构成。
二、用法说明
■表示在过去某一时刻或某一阶段正在发生的动作。如：
What were you doing this time yesterday? 昨天这个时候你在做什么？
During the summer of 1999 she was travelling in Europe. 1999年夏天她在欧洲旅行。
■表示过去将来，多用于go, come, leave, start, take off等动词。如：
He said he was leaving for home in a day or two. 他说他一两天之内就动身回家了。
■表示过去的经常动作，常与always，forever等连用，略带感****彩。如：
She was always thinking of others. 她老是想到别人。(赞扬)
She was forever complaining. 她老是抱怨。(厌烦)
■表示某个短暂性动作发生的背景。如果主句谓语和从句谓语都发生在过去，动作时间长的用过去进行时，表达谈话背景；动作时间短的用一般过去时，表达新的信息。如：
I was reading the newspaper when the doorbell rang. 我正在看报，突然门铃响了。
Jim burnt his hand when he was cooking the dinner. 吉姆做饭时把手烫了。
I met Diana while I was shopping this morning. 我今早买东西时碰到了戴安娜。
■表示两个同时持续的动作。如：
I was doing my homework while he was listening to music. 我在做作业而他在听音乐。
■过去进行时可以表示客气的语气。如：
I was wondering if you could give me a lift. 不知我可否顺便搭你的车。
过去进行时

一、过去进行时的概念及用法

（一）概念:表示过去某一时刻里或过去某一段时间里正在发生的动作
例如：I was singing a song at that time. 我那时正在唱歌。
He was doing his homework at 9:00 yesterday.他昨天九点正在写他的作业。
（二）过去进行时的用法及常用时间状语
1.表示过去某一时刻正在进行的动作，常与时间状语例如：this time yesterday， at that time, then, at 9:00 yesterday等连用。
例如：—What were you doing this time yesterday?你昨天这个时候正在做什么？
—I was watching TV. 我正在看电视。
2.表示过去某一时刻正在发生的动作，常与when引导时间状语从句连用，
例如：What were you doing when the UFO arrived?当飞碟到的时候，你正在干什么？
I was walking along the stream when I met my teacher of English.
当我沿着小溪散步时遇到了英语老师。
3.表示过去的某段时间发生的动作和状态，可以用while引导的时间状语从句连用
例如：While I was watering the garden, it began to rain.当我在花园浇水时，突然下雨了。
While we were having a party, the lights went out.当我们正在句型聚会时，灯突然灭了。
*注意：1.在when引导的时间状语从句中，过去进行时

可能出现在从句，也可能出现在主句。
例如：When she was playing football, her mother came home.
当她正在踢足球时，她妈妈回家了。
When the watch began, he was doing his homework.
当比赛开始的时候，他正在做作业。
2.在while引导的时间状语从句中，从句是过去进行时，主句是一般过时或者过去进行时。
例如：While Lucy was singing ，Tom was dancing.当露西在唱歌时，汤姆在跳舞。
While she was washing her clothes, the light went out.
当她在洗衣服时，灯灭了。
二、过去进行时的构成
过去进行时有助动词was/were+doing的形式构成
1.助动词was/were有人称和数的变化：第一、三人称用was第二人称用were,单数名词用was,复数名词用were.
2.doing的变化
（1）一般直接在动词的末尾加上ing
例如：study→studying help→helping sing→singing
(2)以e结尾的动词，将e去掉，再加ing
例如：live→living dance→dancing write→writing
三、句型转换
1.肯定句：主语+was/were+动词的ing
例如：He was walking on the way home this time yesterday.
昨天的这个时候他正在回家的路上。
2.否定句：在助动词was/were后面加not
句型：主语+wasn’t/weren’t+动词的ing
例如：He wasn’t walking on the way home this time yesterday.
昨天的这个时候他没在回家的路上。
3.一般疑问句及回答：将助动词was/were提前，其余不变
句型：Was/were+主语+动词的ing
肯定回答：Yes,主语+was/were 否定回答：No,主语+wasn’t/weren’t
例如：Was he walking on the way home this time yesterday?
他昨天这个时候走在回家的路上吗
Yes, he was. No, he wasn’t.
4.特殊疑问句：特殊疑问词+一般疑问句
句型：特殊疑问词+was/were+主语+动词ing
例如：Why was he walking on the way home this time yesterday?
为什么他昨天的这个时候走在回家的路上？
5.反意疑问句：
句型：原句，wasn’t/weren’t+主语？
例如：He was walking on the road this time yesterday, wasn’t he?
他昨天这个时候正走在回家的路上，不是吗？
