傲慢与偏见读后感(英文)

Reading after Pride and Prejudice

Recently, I have been reading a book called Pride and Prejudice, which is written by Jane Austen, a major English novelist, whose brilliantly witty, elegantly structured satirical fiction marks the transition in English literature from 18th century neo-classicism to 19th century romanticism.

To make a long story short, the story shows the British society's life in that time by describing the marriage problem. It mainly describes the love story of Bennet ’s several daughters. Mr. Bingley is newly from London and falls in love with the big daughter, Jan, who is gentle and beautiful, while his friend Darcy is sweet upon the second daughter Elizabeth. For some reasons, Elizabeth has prejudice against Darcy, their marriage moves slowly. After a range of interesting troubles, the misunderstanding is finally removed. After Darcy overcoming his pride, and Elizabeth conquering her prejudice, they get together with each other finally.

Nevertheless, the book’s connotation far exceeds the love story itself. It gives me deep impression about viewpoint of love. In the book, obviously, there are four couples deserving our attention. They respectively are Wickham and Lydia, Bingley and Jane, Collins and Charlotte, Darcy and Elizabeth. What I firmly believe is that we can

reflect on these four couples’ love process.

First and foremost, through Wickham and Lydia, we can see a kind of wrong viewpoint of love that girls can easily be cheated by handsome appearances and blandishments. On top of it, through Bingley and Jane, we can also profoundly consider that our deed may be easily influenced by relatives and friends if we don’t have firm convictions. Besides, through Collins and Charlotte, we must confess that we may choose to marry a suitable person if we can’t find the predestined one. Last but not least, through Darcy and Elizabeth, we come to know that sometimes we can’t arbitrarily judge a person through our first impression and that we should give everyone a chance to change himself better.

Among the four couples, the last two give me deeper impression. When faced with Collins’s proposal, Elizabeth rejects it without least hesitation, while Charlotte admit it finally. By making comparison between these two opposite attitudes, maybe I can’t firmly judge which is absolutely right. After all, we are not Elizabeths and perhaps there are not Darcys waiting for us. That is to say, we aren’t permitted to find the predestined one. As Charlotte says, I am not romantic, you know, I never was. I ask only a comfortable home; and considering Mr. Collins's character, connections, and situation in life, I am convinced that my chance of happiness with him is as fair as most people can

boast on entering the marriage state. I can’t censure Charlotte’s opinion, but I prefer to give applause to Elizabeth’s brave decision, because not everyone has the courage to wait for love.

Be sensible, be patient, be positive, and love is here waiting for you.

It describes a love story mainly between Elisabeth, who I like the best, and a rich and proud man, Darcy. The story began with the arrival of a crowd of rich men who rent a house near the Bennet. In a ball, Elisabeth gave such a bad impression on Darcy’s first pride that she refused Darcy’s first proposal. Darcy was so surprised by Elisabeth’s refusal that he loved Elisabeth more deeply. And Elisabeth’s antipathy made Darcy realize his shortcomings. He was not angry about Elisabeth’s censure, but also he changed his previous proud attitude. During Elisabeth’s travel in Darcy’s manor. It makes me feel a lot, and I also feel a lot. This book mainly talks about: at the dance, Elizabeth, a country lady from a decent family but without rich dowry, met Darcy, the son of a rich family. At that time, her arrogance annoyed Elizabeth. With villains provocation, Elizabeth misunderstood Darcy more and more deeply. Darcy, the prince of white horse, fell in love with the beautiful and lively "Cinderella" in one contact, but the difference between the two made Darcy always hold an arrogant attitude towards Elizabeth, which, together with Elizabeths growing misunderstanding of Darcy, constituted the contradiction between "Pride and slowness" and "Prejudice". This book makes me realize that people should get along with each other harmoniously and dont misunderstand each other because of a small matter. We should also learn to understand each other, not because of other peoples provocation and constitute harm to others; learn to tolerate each other. Make our society better. This book also makes me feel that this pair of "arrogance" and "Prejudice" have a happy marriage after many setbacks.

The characters have their own personalities.Mrs.Bennet is a woman who makes great efforts to marry off her daughters.Mr.Bingley is a friendly young man,but his friend,Mr.Darcy,is a very proud man who seems to always feel superior.Even the five daughters in Bennet family are very different.Jane is simple, innocent and never speaks evil of others.Elizabeth is a clever girl who always has her own opinion.Mary likes reading classic books.(Actually she is a pedant.) Kitty doesn’t have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister,Lydia.Lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man,and is somehow a little profligate. When I read the book,I can always find the same personalities in the society now. That is why I think this book is indeed the

In a word, we can’t judge a person without any further recognize or by other people’s words! 第二篇:傲慢与偏见英语读后感 Male and Female Attitudes towards Marriage Pride and Prejudice is a novel written by Jane Austen,an English writer, who first gave the novel its modern characters through the treatment of everyday life. “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife. However little known the feelings or views of such a man may be on his first entering a neighborhood, this truth is so well fixed in the minds of surrounding families, that he is considered as the rightful property of some one or other of their daughters.”The novel directly begins with the theme: Marriage and Money. Jane Austen imposed her view of marriage on her describing of relationship among different males and females. According to the novel, males and females in some degree have diffident values towards marriage. Through some main characters, we can have a comparison. First, we throw our eyes to the male characters. Take George Wickham for example, he is an old acquaintance of Darcy from childhood, and an officer in the militia unit stationed near Merton. Superficially charming, he rapidly forms a friendship with Elizabeth Benet, prompting remarks upon his suitability as a potential husband. He spreads numerous tales about the wrongs Darcy has done to him, coloring the popular perception of the other man in local society. It is eventually revealed that these tales are distortions, and that Darcy was the wronged man in their acquaintance. He is a man with bad quality, but his appearance is deceptive, he has a witty tongue and elegant behavior, who is a deadly attraction to women like Lydia. Once he was addicted to gambling and escape from Breton because of a large amount of debts. Lydia has neither high status nor money, but he is willing to have an accompanier on his escaping way. The book never mentioned why Wickham choose Lydia as his wife. The primary reason, in my eyes, is money. Because he fell in love with Miss King and Elizabeth before not because of love but money. At that time, Wickham can not have a large heritage because of his lower social status, so he is greedier for money. At last, Mr. Darcy helped him to pay for his debts and provided him with another 1000 pounds
