本单元的课文情景是在万圣节前夕，一个小男孩穿着万圣节的长袍、带着万圣节的面具、提着“杰克灯”，到Ms Smart家索要糖果。
在得到糖果之后，因为一时高兴，面具掉了下来，这时Ms Smart发现原来这个孩子是Tom。
从本单元的课文可以看出，即使在万圣节前夕这样的传统节日里，大家仍然要得到允许才能进门、得到礼物。
学情分析：对于四年级学生而言，食物类单词是他们较为感兴趣且较易掌握的一类词汇，再加上在本册教材的第五模块中，已经很细致地对此类词汇进行学习。
因此，首先就让学生在心理上卸下了一个包袱。
