If I were a tree

If I were a tree, I would like to grow in the mountain, far away from the city and the noise. I would rather stand in the wind alone than stand at the road side crowded with other trees.

I would listen to the wind telling me the story of time. I would protect the mountain from being destroyed by the rain. I’d like to stand next to a lake and be home of lovely birds.

But if I had to grow in a city, I would like to grow in a school. I can hear the children’s laughter. I can play with them and let them climb onto me and have a look at the bird’s nest. I would grow beautiful flowers to make the school beautiful and the children happy every day. I would grow tall and wide in summer so that the kids can play games and have fun in my shade.

Wherever I may grow, I would love to live a happy life. You can pick my flowers and eat my fruits, but please don’t cut me down when I am still young. That’s the only thing I’m asking. Thank you!
