The term "state of nature" is used to refer to the hypothetical condition of humans before social factors are imposed, thus attempting to describe the "natural essence" of human nature. Most views of it fall in three typical groups. Views in the first group see humans as inherently good.自从人类探索自我以来，哲学家们就开始了对人性的争论。

Later the group had a more rational speaker, Thomas Hobbes. Famously, he believed that such a condition would lead to a "war of every man against every man" and make life "solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short." Similar theories also can be found in ancient China. Xuncius, another follower of Confucius as Mencius, simply rejected Mencius‘ claim. Instead he asserted that "Human Dispositions are Detestable". The rest views that form the last group stand a neutral point in the debate. They generally believe that human behavior is determined by biological and social factors, so there is no clear boundary between “good” and “evil” and nothing is to be blamed but the gene as well as the environment. And of the two factors which one decides more? Also known as “nature versus nurture”, this question compels enormous studies. On the face of it, it really seems to bear this out. If you look carefully at our culture in previous civilizations and today, you will find it obvious that humans are uncivilized at heart. human nature can be studied, controlled and directed, and this should be the supreme function of our religious, educational and social institutions.
So, What is human nature?
In the text, we are told that human nature is the basis of character, the temperament and disposition and is that indestructible matrix of the character built. To be specific, I think goodness, enjoying beauty, pureness, curiosity are parts of human nature, but there are also selfness, jealousy, possessiveness and laziness in human nature.
When we are children, we are good at finding beauty and enjoying it. And we are easy to be content. Just like a beautiful women who dresses brightly, if you were like this, the little baby may smile to you and prefer to close to you, clasp you and kiss you.
As we all know, Children are sincere, innocent, and pure. They are pleased to trust others and would not like to hurt someone else at all. With kids growing up, they have experienced and contacted more. And then, they may suspect or distrust sb. and sth. They are not trust others and give all their hearts without any doubts any longer.
In addition, people mostly be self-centered or have strong possessiveness since birth.
A baby hopes that his or her mother only love him or her, and never want to share mother with others. They usually think that their favorite things, like toys, just belong to themselves before the family teach kids that they should learn to share, then they may acquire more happiness.
As the saying goes, It's easy to change rivers and mountains but hard to change a person's nature..（江山易改，本性难移）
In fact, human nature can be affected and guided. An honest man may become a liar.A criminal may be a philanthropist.

All in all, I think human nature can be studied, controlled and directed, and our religion, education and social community have huge effects on it.。
