If you are a morning person, you may be at reduced risk for major depression, a new study suggests. 2 Several studies of the body’s circadian sleep-wake cycle have shown that being an early bird is associated with a lower risk for depression. But those studies were observational so could not prove cause and effect. 3 For example, people who are early birds may have other health or lifestyle behaviors that reduce their risk for depression—they may have a healthier diet, for example, exercise more, or have fewer health conditions, such as chronic pain, that are associated with depression. All these factors, and many others, could explain the decreased risk for depression, and not the fact of being an early bird. Moreover, depression itself causes sleep disturbances, so it could be that depression is a cause of being a night owl, rather than the other way around.

The 2014 Conference focuses on showcasing best practices in ethical business and corporate responsibility, promoting values in responsible leadership and their role in addressing inequality to transform business and society. The Conference
programme (/web/gef/programme-2014) features eminent speakers from around the world, including the three international Chairs of the Global Ethics Forum:
•Mr Walter Fust, Swiss Ambassador, President of ;
•Prof. Judge Mervyn King, Chairman of the International Integrated Reporting Committee (IIRC); and
•Mr S.D. Shibulal, CEO and Co-Founder, Infosys, India
As part of the preparations for the Conference a call for nominations, My Choice for Equality (/web/gef/my-choice-for-equality) has been launched to provide recognition to individuals who stand up against inequality in any form.
The 2014 Conference is organised by in collaboration with the Centre for Corporate Governance and Citizenship (www.corpgovernance.in/), Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), India and the Centre for International Business Ethics (CIBE) (/en/), China.
The registration fee includes: conference materials, access to all meetings during the Conference, networking coffee breaks, meals and the cultural event on Friday 3 January 2014 (lodging and travel expenses are NOT included). Registration is on a first come first served basis as places are limited.

Visas - it can take up to two months to obtain a visa for India, so please register and apply for your visa early in order to avoid complications. A visa invitation letter can be requested when you register online.
