All of a sudden, the ship met with an accident and the couple had no choice but to run to the life boat without delay. After reaching there, they realized that there was space only for one person. At that very moment, the husband pushed his wife behind him and jumped onto the lifeboat himself, leaving his wife standing on the sinking ship, shouting something desperately to her husband eyes filled with tears.”The teacher stopped her story-telling and asked her students, “Guys, guess what it was that she shouted.”Most students answered. “I hate you!”After listening to all this reply, the teacher glanced through the whole class again and noticed that there was a boy sitting silently throughout. Then she asked him the same question.The boy answered, “I believe she would have shouted-Take care of our child.”Listening to his remarks, the teacher was surprised and asked theboy doubtfully. “Have you heard of this story before?”Shaking his head, the boy said softly and sadly, “No, I haven’t. But that’s what my mother said to my father before she died of a deadly disease.”Moved and feeling sad, the tea cher replied. “Your answer is absolutely right!”Then she continued, “Let’s take up the story. The ship sank eventually and the husband went home and brought up their daughter alone. Many years later after the death of the man, their daughter was tidying up all his belongings when she found his diary. I went up to the roof for a break after studying for an hour and watched the 50 or so people swimming in the natural rock pool below our house. It was a sunny day--a blue, cloudless sky over a calm sea. But then, as I looked in the distance, I discovered three or four big waves heading towards the shore. I'd seen these mini-tsunamis(海啸) many times before. They were heading at speed in the direction of the pool. Most people knew how to look out for them, but from the screams that started coming from the beach, I could tell someone was in trouble.Without thinking, I ran down into the street, holding my body board(俯伏冲浪板) on the way and shouted at a stranger to go inside my house and call the coastguard. My neighbor Moises had heard the screaming as well and was also outside with his body board, so together we rushed to the steps that led down to the sea.Once we got closer, we discovered the waves had pulled a boy and a girl from the pool and into the open sea. I knew that the nearest boat would take at least 30 minutes to reach us. Waiting for help wasn't a choice. I wasn't used to this sort of emergency--I’d never been trained as a lifeguard-but I didn't think twice about trying to save them. I supposed in a way I wanted to impress everyone: at 19, a deal like that can seem like a good opportunity to show off.Moises and I dived into the water and it took us 10 minutes to get to them. When we finally reached them, they were almost lifeless with only their heads coming in and out of the water. We could tell they were still alive from their small breaths but it was clear they wouldn't have been able to stay there much longer. I held the boy and pulled him over my board. Moises moved the girl onto his board. We discussed pushing them back to the shore, but we were too far out. Paragraph 1:We had to wait. ______________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2:That night, word came from the hospital that the two people were in good condition._______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ 2.

A few seconds remained and the score was tied. Players gathered near the goal. Suddenly Devin saw a clear opening to the goal. He struck the ball hard and held his breath as it flew toward the upper corner of the net.Goal!Three seconds later, the judge blew the whistle. Game over."Championship game, here we come!" said Tara, slapping hands with Devin. "Can't wait till Thursday."Devin grinned. Thursday would be huge—the big soccer game in the afternoon, and the school's autumn concert in the evening. Ms. Poltis had chosen Devin to sing a song alone."Great work," Coach said as the team gathered. "Be here by 6:30 on Thursday to warm up." "It's a night game," Coach explained. "Under the lights."Devin's heart sank. The concert was at 7:00. Same time as the game. He couldn't possibly do both. His teammates were super excited. They were on the edge of a title. He couldn't disappoint his team by skipping the game.That night, Devin lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. The lyrics struck him and he began to sing:"No matter how hard the struggle, I will never let you down..."He liked the song, and he appreciated how kind Ms. Poltis always was. Devin knew the words by heart, but the thought of singing alone made him tremble. Sometimes he was nervous about participating in sports, too, but that always went away as soon as a game started. He'd never sung a solo before. It was a relief to know he didn't have to now. The soccer game was a perfect excuse. But so was Ms. Poltis. It was long time before he fell asleep.

的发展方向。因此我们要特别重视。而且第二段的段首语对第一段的 续写内容有提示作用。 就那样题来说,样题的第二段段首语是The taxi stopped in front of the Police Station and Arthur...从中我们就可以提取到很多有用的信息: a.在第一段续写内容中应该提及Arthur乘坐了taxi,目的地是the police station; b.既然Arthur的目标是警察局,那就可以推出他手中的suitcase有可 能与银行的抢劫案有关; c.既然与银行抢劫案有关,而箱子又是从the young man的车里得来 的,那么这个小伙子就有可能是嫌疑犯;
“I’m afraid so. I’m in a big hurry and I can’t start my car.” “Is there something I can do to help?” Arthur asked. The young man looked at the two suitcases in the back seat and then said, “Thanks. If you’re sure it wouldn’t be too much trouble, you could help me get these suitcases into a taxi.” “No trouble at all. I’d be glad to help.” The young man got out and took one of the suitcases from the back seat. After placing it on the ground,he turned to get the other one. Just as Arthur picked up the first suitcase andstarted walking, he heard the long loud noise of an alarm.

例如哭这个动作,sob,weep,wail,tears well up in one’s eyes,burst into tears都比cry形象生动得多。 害怕 ① He turned to me, with his eyes full of horror. ② Fear slowly creeps (爬,蔓延)upon her. ③ She was struck with horror when... ④ She was choked by fear. ⑤ Her face turned pale and stood there tongue-tied. 2.感动&羞愧 ① Touched deeply/immensely, we… ② Tears filling her eyes, she offered her heartfelt gratitude. ③ With tears streaming down her face, she... ④ Moved to tears, she failed to utter a word. ⑤ I felt my face burning with shame. 3.愤怒 ① I was seized by anger. ②He was fuming [fjumiŋ] (冒烟的 )with rage. ③ His anger boiled over(沸溢 ;(情绪) 失去控制 ). ④He could hardly/scarcely contain his rage(愤怒 ). ⑤ He was breathing fire and fury(激怒的感情) ['fjʊərɪ] . 4.喜乐 ① The smile on her face shone like a diamond. ② A simile of understanding flashed across his face. ③ A ripple (涟漪 )of excitement ran through them. ④ Laughter lingered around (萦绕 ) the room. ⑤ His eyes twinkled with pleasure. “I'm going to miss you so much, Poppy, "said the tall, thin teenager. He bent down to hug his old friend goodbye. He stood up, hugged his parents, and smiled, trying not to let his emotions(情绪)get the better of him. His parents were not quite able to keep theirs under control. They had driven their son several hours out of town to the university where he would soon be living and studying. It was time to say goodbye for now at least. The family hugged and smiled through misty eyes and then laughed. The boy lifted the last bag onto his shoulder, and flashed a bright smile.” I guess this is it, “he said.” I'll see you back home in a month, okay?"His parents nodded, and they watched as he walked out of sight into the crowds of hundreds of students and parents. The boy's mother turned to the dog, “Okay, Poppy, time to go back home.” The house seemed quiet as a tomb without the boy living there. All that week, Poppy didn't seem interested in her dinner, her favorite toy, or even in her daily walk. Her owners were sad too, but they knew their son would be back to visit. Poppy didn't. They offered the dog some of her favorite peanut butter treats. They even let her sit on the sofa, but the old girl just wasn't her usual cheerful self. Her owners started to get worried. "What should we do to cheer Poppy up?
"asked Dad. “We've tried everything.” “I have an idea, but it might be a little crazy, “smiled Mom.” Without anybody left in the house but us, this place could use a bit of fun. Let's get a little dog for Poppy." It didn't take long before they walked through the front door carrying a big box. Poppy welcomed them home as usual, but when she saw the box, she stopped. She put her nose on it. Her tail began wagging(摆动)ever so slowly, then faster as she caught the smell. 注意: 1. 所续写短文的词数应为150左右; 2 续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好;
