1986年12月5日在锦江区〔原东城区〕文化播送电视局局领导的参与下成立了第一个糖画艺人的组织——成都市锦江区民间糖画艺术协会。

糖画这一民间艺术虽属小技,然而却源远流长,距今约有四百余年历史。

据考,它起源于明代的“糖垂相〞。

《坚补集》载:明俗每年祀神,“熔就糖霜〞印铸成各种动物及人物作为祀品。

所铸人物“袍轩昂〞,俨然文臣武将,故当时戏呼为“糖丞相〞。

后来又吸收了中国皮影、民间剪纸等姊妹艺术的造型手法与雕刻技艺,逐渐演变开展为今日的糖画艺术。

至此在艺人们的要求下,锦江区文化体育局及时向省、市有关部门和区委、区政府汇报,并得到省、市有关部门和区委、区政府的大力支持,经过一个多月的紧张筹备于1996年12月5日正式成立了成都市锦江区民间糖画艺术协会。
