Definition of Love
Love, it is such a familiar word to all of us. We talk it everyday. However, it seems that love is not something as simple as what we imagine.
What is love? There is no doubt different person has different definitions of it. Love can be the mutual affection between those who are in love; love can be the selfless dedication from parents to children; love can be the mutual care among friends. Love has millions of definitions.
To me, love is to let go.
I dare to say, everyone here must have heard the stories about the how young eagles start to learn flying. Eagles all live in some place with very hard conditions, for example, cliffs. Also, they will face the fierce competition among their own kind and between other species. To survive, they must master the very strong living skills. Since, they are very young, the mother eagles will push their babies to learn flying on the dangerous cliffs, no matter how scared the young babies are.
I think every time the mother eagles are worried about their babies. But they have to let them go. Only by doing so, can the young master the skills and survive in the competitive nature.
This is a kind of love, a kind of tough love to let go.
Like the story of eagles, when we were babies, the first time we got tripped over while learning to walk, our worrying mothers stayed besides us, with tears in their eyes and smile on their faces, and said: Honey, get up yourself, you are the best.
All mothers know, all of us will grow up and their letting us go will help us to grow faster and stronger.
That is my own understanding and definition for love. Actually, love is the greatest art in the world. We need to dedicate our lifetime to learn it, to perform it. Only those who are willing to dedicate, to give can feel and get the true meaning of love. Let go is one kind of tough love, which is a must to everyone. Let go does not mean to ignore, does not mean carelessness. It is the very important and necessary activator to everyone’s growing. All please cherish and understand such kind of tough love.。
