We are so excited because picnics are our favorite activity during the warm spring and summer months.First thing this morning, my mom is waking me and my little brother up very early. We are both still feeling sleepy, but mom says we need to get going to have the whole day at the park. I am rubbing my eyes and slowly getting out of my cozy bed.After getting dressed, I am heading to the kitchen where mom is packing our picnic basket. It is a big wicker basket that has a red and white checkered lining inside. Mom is putting in plastic plates, cups, utensils, and napkins. She is also adding a blanket to sit on at the park.Next, mom is making lots of delicious food to bring with us. She is making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches which are my favorite! She is also slicing up crunchy apples, juicy oranges, and carrots to have as snacks. For dessert, she is baking an apple pie that is making the whole house smell amazing.My dad is coming into the kitchen carrying a large ice chest on wheels. He is putting lots of bottled water and juice boxes inside to keep them cold. He is also adding a couple bags of ice.Finally, we are all piling into the car with the picnic basket, ice chest, beach balls, frisbees, and other outdoor toys. We are driving across town to Hillcrest Park which has a huge grassy area perfect for picnics. I am looking out the window and seeing lots of green trees, colorful flowers, and families already playing at the park.When we arrive, dad is parking the car and we are unloading everything. Mom is telling us to find the perfect shady spot under the big oak tree. We are spreading out the blanket and setting up our picnic area. The tree's leaves are providing nice cool shade to keep us from getting too hot in the sun.After everything is all set up, we are having so much fun! My brother and I are tossing a frisbee back and forth and running around chasing each other. Every now and then we are taking a break to drink some cold juice and eat snacks like apple slices and carrots. The fresh air is making us work up an appetite!Soon it is lunchtime and we are all gathering around on the blanket. Mom is pulling the sandwiches, chips, and apple pie out of the basket. My favorite peanut butter and jelly sandwiches aretasting so yummy! The pie is still warm and melty in my mouth. We are all getting our faces messy but having a great time.After we finish our delicious picnic lunch, we are feelingre-energized to play some more games. Dad is helping me practice batting while my brother fields the balls I hit. Then the whole family is joining in a game of baseball. We are laughing and cheering whenever someone gets a hit or makes a great catch.As the afternoon sun starts to get lower in the sky, we are starting to feel tuckered out from playing hard all day. We are packing up all of our picnic supplies and toys to head home. I am feeling sweaty and a little sunburned, but extremely happy after having an awesome picnic day at the park with my family.In the car ride home, I am dozing off to sleep, completely worn out from the fun and fresh air. Picnics at the park are the best days ever! I can't wait for our next picnic when we can make more amazing memories as a family. Spending quality time together exploring outdoors is something I will always cherish.。
