Once upon a time, there was a farmer. One day, while he was

working in the fields, he saw ahare run into a tree stump

accidentally and die of a broken neck.

The farmer took the hare home and cooked a delicious meal

for himself.

That night he thought: "I needn't work so hard. All I have to

do is wait every day by the stump to pick up the hare that runs

into it."

So from then on he gave up farming, and stood by the tree

stump waiting for the hare to come and run into it.

But from then on, he never saw another hare run into the

tree stump.

the tree for a second hare to turn up4. He waited all day long,

but no hare come at all.

There stood a big tree in the field he cultivated.

One day, while working in the field, he suddenly saw a hare

running by in front of him.

The bare bumped against the big tree, broke its neck and

died under the tree.

Without any effort, the farmer happily enjoyed a meal of bare

meat.

He was very pleased and thought how nice it would be if

every day were like this.

Thereupon, he no longer cultivated his land, but watched by

that tree and waited for thechance to pick up another hare which

knocked itself dead against the tree.

He waited and waited and watched. His field lay waste, but

he never got a second hare.

The people in the village laughed at him for taking the

accidental for the inevitable.

Title: Waiting by the Stump

Once upon a time, there was a farmer who worked hard in his fields. One

day, while he was busy with his work, a hare accidentally ran into a tree

stump and died. The farmer, seeing this, decided to wait by the stump the

next day in hopes of finding another hare.

The next day, he gave up his regular work and sat by the stump, dreaming

of the easy life he could have if he could catch more hares. He imagined

himself sitting idle, with plenty of meat to eat without the hardships

Days passed, but no more hares came. The farmer began to wonder why he

wasn't catching anything. He realized that he had been too lucky the first

time and that such luck wouldn't last. But he still refused to return to

his fields, hoping against hope that a hare would come.

1. Waiting for the rabbit。

I sat under the tree, patiently waiting for the rabbit

to come. The sun was shining brightly, casting a warm glow

on the grass. I could hear the birds singing in the

distance, their melodies filling the air. The anticipation

grew as I kept my eyes fixed on the bushes, hoping to catch

a glimpse of the elusive rabbit.

2. The stillness of the moment。

Time seemed to stand still as I sat there, lost in my

thoughts. The rustling of leaves caught my attention, and

my heart skipped a beat. Could it be the rabbit? My eyes

widened in excitement as I watched the bushes sway gently

in the breeze. The world around me faded into the

background, and all that mattered was the possibility of

seeing the rabbit.

Long ago, a farmer's son was working in his field one day when he found a rabbit

trapped in the trap. He decided to keep it as a pet and fed it well with vegetables

from his own garden.

After a few days, he fell asleep near the cage and dreamed that he was the king of

rabbits. Suddenly, a tiger came running towards him but before it could pounce on

him, he woke up screaming loudly. Afterwards, whenever he thought about the

nightmare, he felt frightened again and couldn’t bear going back to sleep by himself

in that cage anymore. So, every night after supper, he went to stay at home and wait

for more rabbits to come out of their burrows.

The other villagers saw this and soon they all started coming to him for advice on

how to become rich quickly without doing any work themselves. They would sit

Lying by the Tree to wait for

Once upon a time there was a farmer who worked hard in

the fields every day.One day, while he was ploughing the fields,

he heard a bumping sound. He saw a rabbit lying by the trunk.

He picked it up and found that it was a fat rabbit. He thought to

himself,"Since it is so easy to get a rabbit like that, why should I

work so hard all daylong?'! He threw his hoe away and lay by

the tree every day, dreaming for more rabbits to come. When he

finally realized his foolishness and returned to his fields, he found

that all his crops were dead. The story tells us that we should not

wait for unexpected gains by trusting chance and luck. Or, we

should not hope to get rewards without hard work.
