2023高考英语新高考II卷阅读理解C篇全考点解析附译文[名校内部资料]CReading Art: Art for Book Lovers is a celebration of an everyday object —the book, represented here in almost three hundred artworks from museums around the world. The image of the reader appears throughout history, in art made long before books as we now know them came into being. In artists’representations of books and reading, we see moments of shared humanity that go beyond culture and time.In this “book of books,”artworks are selected and arranged in a way that emphasizes these connections between different eras and cultures. We see scenes of children learning to read at home or at school, with the book as a focus for relations between the generations. Adults are portrayed (描绘) alone in many settings and poses—absorbed in a volume, deep in thought or lost in a moment of leisure. These scenes may have been painted hundreds of years ago, but they record moments we can all relate to.Books themselves may be used symbolically in paintings to demonstrate the intellect (才智), wealth or faith of the subject. Before the wide use of the printing press, books were treasured objects and could be works of art in their own right. More recently, as books have become inexpensive or even throwaway, artists have used them as the raw material for artworks —transforming covers, pages or even complete volumes into paintings and sculptures.Continued developments in communication technologies were once believed to make the printed page outdated. From a 21st-century point of view, the printed book is certainly ancient, but it remains as interactive as any battery-powered e-reader. To serve its function, a book must be activated by a user: the cover opened, the pages parted, the contents reviewed, perhaps notes written down or words underlined. And in contrast to our increasingly networked lives where the information we consume is monitored and tracked, a printed book still offers the chance of a wholly private, “off-line”activity.28. Where is the text most probably taken from?A. An introduction to a book.B. An essay on the art of writing.C. A guidebook to a museum.D. A review of modern paintings.29. What are the selected artworks about?A. Wealth and intellect.B. Home and school.C. Books and reading.D. Work and leisure.30. What do the underlined words “relate to”in paragraph 2 mean?A. Understand.B. Paint.C. Seize.D. Transform.31. What does the author want to say by mentioning thee-reader?A. The printed book is not totally out of date.B. Technology has changed the way we read.C. Our lives in the 21st century are networked.D. People now rarely have the patience to read.

Lost and Found"Now class, I want you to write the best essay you possibly can. I'll give you until the end ofthe period, and then I'll collect them."Miss Anderson's weary voice rose above the whispering and muffled giggles. "Remember, be creative—and use your imagination!""Are there any questions?"she asked, secretly hoping there weren't.It had been an extremely tiring day, and she just wanted to put everything behind her and relax.A tall boy with mischievous brown eyes who was sitting in the back of the room, crackinghis gum in the most obnoxious way, slowly raised his hand. He was Jonathan Lacket, classclown, feared by teachers, "worshiped" by students everywhere. If there was an assignmentto get out of, he would find some way for himself and the class to get out of it.Miss Anderson's heart sank."Jonathan?""Can't.""You can't what?" she asked, not looking up."Use my imagination," he answered slowly, as if talking to a little child."Why ever not?" She stared at him wonderingly. He had her full attention now."Lost it," he replied, as if she needed no other explanation."You, you lost your imagination?" she asked in disbelief."Yup." The gum cracking became louder.Miss Anderson's sense of humor was now starting to get the better of her, despite how long her day had been, so she decided to play along."Well, this certainly is serious," she said, trying to be solemn. "When exactly did you loseit?""Um, um, today.""Today, Jonathan?""Yeah, today. About, about now," he decided."Oh, really? Hmmmm. Do you have any idea where you lost it?" She was beginning to enjoy this."Um, could be ... could be home, or could be here. Don't know." The gum cracking became even louder. "Don't know where it is, don't know what I did with it, and don't know where it could be. Just lost it," he answered casually."Oh, I see. Well, have you checked in the Lost and Found? I'm sure if you went down to the office and asked the principal, he'd—""No, no," he said quickly. "I, ah, already checked at the Lost and Found and, um, it wasn't there. Yeah, it wasn't there.""Well, Jon, I, ah, guess there's nothing you can do. You certainly can't do this assignmentwithout an imagination, and it's clear you've lost yours, so you're excused," Anderson. The class, which had been listening intently throughout the conversation, now buzzed with admiration and envy (but mostly envy) while Jonathan threw a triumphant glance at no onein particular and cracked his gum with satisfaction."Oh, Jon, Jon, wait a minute. I have an idea," Miss Anderson said, turning around. "Maybe, maybe if you stay after school tonight, I could help you find it. I'm sure, with both of usworking together,we could certainly find your imagination. And you can stayyou need to—maybe even the whole afternoon! How does that sound?"Silence."Um, Miss A?" he asked quietly."Yes, Jonathan?""Found it."(By Elaina Satti)[1] muffle [?m ? fl] vt.使(声音)低沉(或轻微)sighed Miss as long as[2] obnoxious [?b ?n ?k??s] adj. A tall boy with mischievous brown eyesshe said, trying to be solemnJonathan threw a triumphant glance at no one in particular2. Why did Miss Anderson sigh?"Well, Jon, I, ah, guess there's nothing you can do. You certainly can't do this assignmentwithout an imagination, and it's clear you've lost yours, so you're excused,"sighed Miss Anderson.二、深层分析——写作手法分析Jonathan的态度变化为文章主线,通过两种手段进行前后对比,惟妙惟肖特殊动作线:crack the gum:1.cracking his gum in the most obnoxious way2."Yup." The gum cracking became louder.3. "Um, could be ... could be home, or could be here. Don't know." The gum cracking became even louder.4.cracked his gum with satisfaction5.Silence.神情线: expression:1."Use my imagination," he answered slowly, as if talking to a little child.2."Lost it," he replied, as if she needed no other explanation.3."Yeah, today. About, about now," he decided.4.he answered casually5.Jonathan threw a triumphant glance at no one in particular.6."Um, Miss A?" he asked quietly. 1.Miss Anderson's weary voice rose above the whispering and muffled giggles.2.Miss Anderson's heart sank.3.Miss Anderson's sense of humor was now starting to get the better of her, despitehow long her day had been, so she decided to play along[3].4.sighed Miss Anderson. 1.she asked, secretly hoping there weren't.2."You can't what?" she asked, not looking up.3."Why ever not?" She stared at him wonderingly. He had her full attention now.4."You, you lost your imagination?" she asked in disbelief.5."Well, this certainly is serious," she said, trying to be solemn.

B1 I used to think the whole purpose of life was pursuing happiness.Everyone said the path to happiness was success, so I searched for that idealjob, that perfect boyfriend, that beautiful apartment. But instead of ever feeling fulfilled, Ifelt anxious and adrift. Eventually, I decided to go tograduate school for positive psychology to learn what truly makes people happy.2 And what’s the difference between being happy and having meaning inlife? Many psychologists define happiness as a state of comfort and ease, feeling good in the moment. Meaning, though, is deeper. The renownedpsychologist Martin Seligman says meaning comes from belonging to and servingsomething beyond yourself and from developing the best within you. Our cultureis obsessed (痴迷于) withhappiness, but I came to see that seeking meaning is the more fulfilling path.3 There are four pillars (支柱) of a meaningful life.4 The first pillar is belonging. Belonging comes from being in relationshipswhere you’re valued for who you are intrinsically and where you value others aswell. For many people, belonging is the most essential source of meaning.5 For others, the key to meaning is the second pillar: purpose.Finding your purpose is not the same thing as finding that job that makes youhappy. A hospital custodian told me her purpose is healing sick people. Manyparents tell me, “My purpose is raising my children.”The key to purpose isusing your strengths to serve others. Without something worthwhile to do,people flounder.6 The third pillar of meaning is also about stepping beyond yourself, but in a completely different way: transcendence (超然). Transcendent experiencescan change you. Transcendent states are those rare moments when you’re liftedabove the hustle and bustle of daily life, your sense of self fades away, andyou feel connected to a higher reality. For me, I’m a writer, and it happensthrough writing. Sometimes I get so in the zone that I lose all sense of timeand place.7 The fourth pillar is storytelling, the story you tell yourself aboutyourself. Creating a narrative from the events of your life brings clarity. Ithelps you understand how you became you. But we don’t always realize that we’rethe authors of our stories and can change the way we’re telling them. Your lifeisn’t just a list of events. You can edit, interpret and retell your story, even as you’re constrained by the facts.8 That’s the power ofmeaning. Happiness comes and goes. But when life is really good and when thingsare really bad, having meaning gives you something to hold on to.58. What can we infer from the first twoparagraphs?A. Life can be fulfilled by landing ideal jobs.B. Life dilemma is easy for us to get out of.C. Happiness is the core values in our culture.D. Happiness is what most people pursue.59. From the four pillars of a meaningfullife, we can know that ________.A. nothing is as essential a source of meaning as belongingB. purpose is less about what you want than what you giveC. transcendent fades easily and rarely makes us cheerfulD. the way of telling stories guarantees a meaningful life60. The passage aims to tell us that________.A. meaning is more important than happinessB. seeking meaning does more good than badC. chasing happiness can makepeople unhappyD. meaning has deeper psychological significance【语篇解读】【答案详解】1.
The spread of no-maintenance artificial lawns is threatening wildlife and rare plants, conservationists and gardening experts are warning. Gardens are an increasingly impor¬tant shelter for wildlife which was forced into withdrawing from the countryside by loss of the natural homes and intensive farming. But the growth in the popularity of artificial lawns, which look like the real thing but require no cutting, watering or fertilizing, means there’s no shelter in an increasing number of Britain’s back gardens.Tim Rumball, editor of Amateur Gar¬dening magazine, said: “Artificial grass these days looks great and these days you can buy rolls of it whereas before it was a very specialist thing. It can take people a few min¬utes to realize they are on an artificial lawn rather than a real one.”Besides the impact on wildlife, a damaging impact has also been had on the wider environment because of replacing real grass. Mr Rumball said: “Lawns matter a lot. Plants change carbon dioxide into oxy¬gen and if all the lawns are taken away in Britain you will significantly affect the carbon levels in the atmosphere. When grassgrows longer, it attracts insects. If you have an artificial lawn then these insects will be reduced and the whole of the food chain will be affected, especially birds that rely on insects for their diet.”Joy Wallis of Dorset Wildlife Trust is also concerned about the trend for artificial grass. “These days, gardens are a shelter for wildlife.”she said. “Creatures can’t survive in the countryside because it is so full of chemicals. Birds get absolutely nothing from artificial grass, and they can’t dig for worms or anything like that. It seems a shame that people feel they haven’t got the time or the tendency to look after a lawn.”Robert Redcliffe of Namgrass, which currently sells 10,000 square meters of artificial grass per week, says business is booming, adding, “We started five years ago in the UK and it can transform the way you use the garden. There’s the obvious advantage of no cutting or watering, but also there’s no mud for children or pets to walk through the house.”He disagrees that artificial grass is harmful to the environment and added, “There are ecological benefits. In the long run the effect of artificial grass is outweighed by not having to use a lawnmower, run¬ning water or fertilizers.”

C1 The Bible begins with the creation of the world. As a consequence(结果标识词,读到此,应该知道后面的主题句了), in traditional Western thought the world is assumed to have been created by God.
The Earth is associated with whatever is impermanent, imperfect, bodily and sinful. Heaven is the sphere of the permanent, perfect, spiritual and holy.(概念或中心句+具体解释的模式是绝大部分英语论说文的展开模式,关键是中心句的辨认。
Heaven)2 Traditional Chinese thought has no place for the idea of a creation(本句为论点,从上文的西方思想到本段的中国思想,明显是比较). What exists has always existed and shall always do so(always重复,突出中国思想的特色).Accordingly (语篇标识词,此句是照应论点句。
这种模式:论点+论据+总结照应,也是很常见的)there is no concept of necessary “improvement”or “correction”of the creation through such means as a Last Judgment.3 Things are as they are simply because that is the way they are(从because可见这是承接上文,具体解释中国思想了,可扫读一下第4段的首句确定). The natural principle of order, common to all that exists, is called the Way (dao)(新的概念the Way的提出,必然后面要具体解释,这是铁定规律). The Way is not some sort of law or pattern that God or prophets (先知) forced on what exists. It reveals itself in theongoing process of historical existence.(先否定,再肯定的方式。
)4 The Way is present not only in the physical world of nature --- where it expresses itself in the alternation of the seasons and in the growth cycle of plants and animals --- but also in the life of human society: a normal system of mutual (相互的) relations between humans(这个句子很长,非常关键。
not only ...but also... It implies loyalty of the subject to the ruler, obedience (顺从) of children to their parents, mutual reliability between friends, and so on. The norms of morality are thought to be in all persons from birth(论点后是具体解释,从impliy一词可以看出。
这一层的语言是很有特色的,即:loyalty to..., obedience to..., reliability between...).5 There is no such thing as an anti-Way, tempting(引诱) mankind into erro r(中心句。
There is no such thing as a struggle between Light and Darkness, or between God and Evil(解释第一层:西方思想). Crimes and misdeeds are seen as the result of an evil arising from stupidity, caused by the confusing influence of desires. Desires are normal, but must be kept under control.(解释第二层:中国思想。
6 ____①____ As long as all people conduct themselves according to the one correct and normal Way, order (zhi) will be popular in society. (中心句,从as long as可见此段讲的是如何得道,order就是道,前面已经讲过)Otherwise disorder (luan) will result.
People easily let themselves be tempted into forgetting morality in search of their own private aims, thus ignoring the “difference between human beings and wild beasts”. ____③____ Chinese thinkers were strongly worried about the horrors of misused and arbitrary power, of violence and of war. For them these things were Hell enough.
)Blessedness, for Chinese thinkers, is not a condition to be hoped for after death, but in life on Earth in a well-ordered society. There is no Paradise other than what is brought about here and now by man on Earth. What do the concepts mean? What are their differences? In the Chinese view, the Way (dao) is a thought that _____.A. only exists in the life of human societyB. has a link with creation of everythingC. attaches importance to individual rightsD. suggests everything obeys natural laws命题点:中国思想的道是什么?
62. Which of the following statements are less likely to fit into the Chinese frameworks of thinking?A. The Earth can be holy Heaven if it achieves order.B. Desires are what tempts people into Darkness and Evil.C. Paradise can be now and here in a well-ordered society.D. People behave according to the natural principle of order.
