出自郑燮的《新竹》教学反思:本节课结合实际，要求学生能听懂会说对话，会询问身边的人和事物的年龄、身高、重量以及长度，并做比较。
如何引导学生熟练掌握语言材料，并能运用材料进行拓展与延伸，是英语课堂有效与否的关键所在。
教学Let’s talk时，我曾经以为，教材提供的语言材料，也就是四会句子，被学生熟练掌握就可以了，没有必要花功夫去训练拓展练习。
殊不知，英语课堂有效与否，不仅应该看学生学到了什么，更应该看他们学会了什么，能不能运用所学。
教师只要求学生听懂会说文章中所给的语言材料，时间一长，就造成了学生只会背所学的单词和主要句型，不会运用所学进行交际的现象。
培养出的学生只不过是背书的机器。
这与我们英语教学的基本理念是背道而驰的，也是与对话课的功能或目的相抵触的。
这样的课堂称不上是有效的。
因此，在本课中，以我设计了一个调查，要求学生用尺子量一量，用语言材料说一说。
（当然，在实际教学中，由于个别环节还没有处理好，所以没能在课堂上实现。
）这样，就对基本句型“How heavy are you? How tall are you?”进行了拓展延伸，运用活动来激发学生口头表达的兴趣，使学生的语言运用能力得到锻炼和提高，也使课堂更具实效性。
