英语教学不外乎语言知识的讲授和语言能力的运用。教授完一篇课文之后,传统的英语家庭作业一直是读、抄、默、背。A层学生觉得是小菜一碟,没有挑战,C层学生就是背不出来。我给不同层次的学生布置难度不同的作业,对每一层的学生都有最低限度的要求。例如,在学完课文、对话后,要求 A 层学生全篇背诵,B层学生能先模仿,然后背诵短篇,长篇按老师指定的重要段落背诵。让C层学生模仿语音、语调,只要求背诵重要词组和句子,课文部分流利朗读即可。鼓励有条件的A层学生听唱英语歌曲,观看英语电影等以培养英语学习兴趣。鼓励A层的学生将课文中的对话用自己所学过的知识改编为文章,B层学生要求默写课文,C层学生要求填空。A、B层学生能够利用所获得的信息来分析问题和解决问题。C层学生也能读懂文章的基本意思,提高了信心,希望更进一步的学习。如果是对文章内容的概括,适合A、B层的学生完成。C层学生做文章的细节题,或者是true or false类型的题目。
在设计听说课内容时,也注重了分层教学的特点。例如,在学习family一课时,我先是听写了课文中的形容词,然后请A层学生补充其它的形容词,并且造出例句,板书在黑板上。接着请B层学生根据情况替换内容表述出来。然后是听写了一段事先准备的描述家庭的文字。最后进行两人对话。这时对于C层学生来说,如果他们能够使用我刚才听写的内容直接朗读出来,就已经达到目标了。对于其他程度好的学生则要求能够使用不同的句型表达。
