申请参加学校表演英语作文

申请参加学校表演英语作文全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1An Application to Perform at the Annual English ShowcaseDear English Department Faculty,My name is Jennifer Parker, and I am a junior English Literature major with a passion for the performing arts. I am writing to submit my application to perform a piece at this year's Annual English Showcase. For as long as I can remember, I have been utterly captivated by the magic of storytelling through performance. There is something so powerfully human about gathering to hear tales spun through the spoken word – it taps into an ancient tradition that has connected people across cultures and generations. My love affair with performance began at a young age putting on plays with my siblings in our backyard, recruiting neighbors and stuffed animals as audience members. As I grew older, I sought out every opportunity to breathe life into stories, joining theater troupes and auditioning for school productions. When I first stepped onto this university's campus, I was ecstatic to discover the Annual English Showcase. Each year, I have attended every performance, amazed by the talent and artistry of my peers. To have the chance to take that revered stage would be the highest honor and dream come true. More than that, it would authenticate my long-held belief that the stage is my second home. For my performance piece, I plan to deliver an excerpted and adapted version of Virginia Woolf's moving novel "To the Lighthouse." This pioneering work of modernist fiction is a shining exemplar of the English language's poetic potential. Woolf's words have the power to both shatter and mend the heart – a quality I hope to authentically capture through my interpretive delivery. Her language is a masterclass in the rhythm, lyricism, and visceral imagery that can be coaxed from our humble English tongue. While "To the Lighthouse" presents complex themes surrounding the nature of reality, time, and personal identity, I will focus my performance on the novel's impassioned depiction of family bonds and the human drive for meaning amidst life's ephemeral nature. The story centers on the Ramsay family's anticipation of a visit to a rural lighthouse – a symbol rife withmetaphorical heft about the elusiveness of goals and aspirations. However, the nuanced family dynamics and each character's rich inner worlds comprise the true heart of the narrative.Woolf's innovative stream-of-consciousness style translated seamlessly to performance, if interpreted genuinely. Her poetic yet conversational syntax has an inherent dramatic pulse suited for the stage. With precise Act-based selections and ambient lighting, music, and minimalist set design, I envision crafting an atmospherically immersive experience where Woolf's language can take center stage. My goal is for audience members to become intimate confidants inside the minds of these vibrantly rendered characters. My background makes me the ideal candidate to deliver Woolf's masterwork justice. In addition to my studies delving into modernist literature, I have over a decade of theater experience spanning plays, musicals, and public speaking competitions. I have been recognized for my dynamic expression and commitment to authenticity in each role. Most recently, I played the lead in our department's rendition of Shakespeare's "Hamlet" and was praised for imbuing the Bard's metered poetry with raw emotional resonance. While profound on the page, the true transformative power of Woolf's opus lies in the audible experience of her words reanimated by the human voice. I have long felt a spiritual connection with "To the Lighthouse" and am confident my practiced delivery can awaken its majestic beauty for the audience. This opportunity would allow me to share my artistic passion while celebrating the incredible luminescence of the English language. On a more personal note, this performance carries extra significance as both an artistic statement and full-circle milestone. You see, my journey as a perfomer began by entertaining my parents through recitations and plays, providing an escape from the immense grief of losing my younger brother as a child. In those darkest of times, I discovered the cathartic potency of spoken storytelling to rekindle hope and reaffirm the preciousness of human bonds. Novels like "To the Lighthouse" depicting the raw yet resilient experiences of families helped my own healing process. To grace the Showcase stage and share this seminal English work would represent my ability to transform profound pain into profound connection through art. It is the highest reunion between my life's purpose and life's origins I could imagine. Ihumbly ask for your consideration to provide this uniquely personal and academically thrilling performance.Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hopefully hearing from you soon.Warmly,Jennifer Parker篇2Application for Performing an English SpeechDear Faculty Committee,My name is Emma Roberts, and I am a sophomore in the English Literature program. I am writing to express my keen interest in being selected to perform an English speech at our school's upcoming Speech Night.Ever since I was a young girl, I have been captivated by the power of words and the art of oration. I can vividly recall staying up late at night, huddled under my blankets with a flashlight, devouring the works of legendary writers and speakers. Their eloquent turns of phrase, their ability to ignite emotions and inspire action through the sheer force of language, left an indelible mark on my impressionable mind.As I grew older, my passion for public speaking only intensified. I joined the debate club in middle school, relishing the opportunity to hone my rhetorical skills and engage in spirited discourse. The thrill of standing before an audience, marshaling my arguments, and attempting to sway hearts and minds was an incomparable rush.Upon entering high school, I immersed myself in the world of theatre, both on stage and behind the scenes. I marveled at how the greatest playwrights could weave tapestries of words that transported audiences to realms of laughter, sorrow, and profound self-reflection. With each performance, I gained a deeper appreciation for the nuances of delivery, the importance of pacing, and the art of commanding a room through sheer presence. Now, as a student of English Literature, I find myself on a perpetual quest to unravel the intricacies of language and the human condition. My courses have exposed me to a rich tapestry of literary works, each one a masterclass in the boundless potential of the written and spoken word.It is from this wellspring of passion and experience that I draw my desire to perform an English speech at our school's Speech Night. I envision crafting a thought-provoking andemotionally resonant oration that not only showcases my command of the language but also speaks to the shared human experiences that bind us all.The theme I propose to explore is "The Power of Storytelling: Weaving Worlds with Words." In an age of unprecedented technological advancement and constant distraction, I believe it is more crucial than ever to preserve and celebrate the ancient art of storytelling. From the epic sagas of Homer to the modern literary masterpieces that grace our syllabi, stories have been the bedrock upon which civilizations have been built, wisdom has been passed down, and the human spirit has been nurtured.Through my speech, I will take the audience on a captivating journey, tracing the evolution of storytelling across cultures and eras. I will delve into the psychological and neurological underpinnings that make stories such potent vessels for conveying truth, imparting knowledge, and forging emotional connections. Moreover, I will explore the myriad ways in which storytelling manifests itself in our daily lives, from the anecdotes we share with friends and family to the narratives that shape our personal identities. By illuminating the ubiquity and power of stories, I hope to inspire my peers to embrace their innate storytellingabilities and to wield words as instruments of empathy, understanding, and personal growth.Yet, my speech will not merely be a celebration of storytelling; it will also serve as a rallying cry for its preservation and proliferation. In a world where attention spans are dwindling and the art of deep listening is being eroded, I will implore my audience to resist the siren call of shallow distractions and to reclaim their roles as curators and custodians of the rich tapestry of human narratives. To breathe life into this vision, I will draw upon my extensive training in public speaking, my mastery of rhetorical techniques, and my deep reverence for the English language. I will craft a speech that is at once intellectually stimulating and emotionally resonant, weaving together carefully chosen words, vivid imagery, and well-timed pauses to create a spellbinding experience for all in attendance.I am acutely aware of the immense honor and responsibility that comes with being selected to perform at our school's Speech Night. It is an opportunity to not only showcase my abilities but also to contribute to the rich tradition of oratory that has shaped our institution and our world. In closing, I humbly submit my application, fueled by a burning passion for language, a deep respect for the art of storytelling, and an unwavering commitment to delivering a speech that will educate, inspire, and leave a lasting impact on all who bear witness.Thank you for your time and consideration. I eagerly await your decision and the chance to grace the stage with my words.Sincerely,Emma Roberts篇3Participating in the Upcoming English Performance: My Passion and Why I Should Be SelectedAs an enthusiastic and dedicated student of the English language, I am immensely excited about the opportunity to take part in our school's upcoming English performance. This event represents a unique platform for me to showcase my linguistic abilities, passion for the performing arts, and deep appreciation for the richness and beauty of the English language and its associated cultures. From a young age, I have been fascinated by the intricacies of language, and English, in particular, has captured my imagination like no other. However, my love for English extends far beyond mere academic interest; it is a medium through which I can connect with diverse peoples and cultures, broadening my horizons and fostering a sense of global citizenship.Participating in this performance would not only allow me to exhibit my mastery of the English language but also to celebrate the diverse literary and artistic traditions that have enriched this remarkable tongue. Through carefully curated pieces, whether they be poetic recitations, dramatic monologues, or excerpts from renowned plays, I aim to transport the audience on a captivating journey, immersing them in the depths of human experience as conveyed through the power of words.Furthermore, I firmly believe that my involvement in this performance would be mutually beneficial, as it would provide me with a unique opportunity to hone my public speaking and stage presence skills. The confidence and poise acquired throughsuch experiences are invaluable assets that will undoubtedly serve me well in my future academic and professional endeavors. My dedication to the English language is not confined to the classroom; it extends far beyond the boundaries of formal education. I am an avid reader, constantly seeking out new literary works to explore, from classic novels to contemporary poetry. This passion has not only enriched my vocabulary and deepened my understanding of linguistic nuances but has also instilled in me a profound appreciation for the transformative power of literature. Through the written word, I have been transported to distant lands, immersed in captivating narratives, and challenged to confront complex moral and philosophical questions – all experiences that have profoundly shaped my worldview and personal growth. Moreover, my involvement in extracurricular activities and organizations related to the English language has further fueled my passion and provided invaluable opportunities for personal and intellectual growth. As an active member of the school's English club, I have participated in numerous debates, poetry readings, and literary discussions, continually refining my oratory skills and deepening my understanding of the intricacies of language. If selected to participate in this performance, I would approach the task with utmost dedication and professionalism. I am committed to putting in the necessary time and effort to ensure that my performance is of the highest caliber, thoroughly rehearsed, and meticulously polished. I understand the importance of effective communication and the power of language to captivate and inspire an audience, and I am prepared to channel my passion and skills to create a truly memorable and impactful experience.Beyond the immediate gratification of participating in this event, I also recognize the long-term benefits that such an opportunity would provide. The skills and confidence gained through public performance would undoubtedly serve me well in my future academic and professional pursuits. Whether delivering presentations, participating in discussions, or engaging in public speaking events, the ability to communicate effectively and confidently in English is an invaluable asset in today's increasingly interconnected world. In conclusion, I am deeply passionate about the English language and the rich cultural tapestry it represents. 学生们参加了学校的英语表演英语作文全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1The Big English PerformanceWow, what an amazing day it was yesterday! Our whole school put on this huge English performance and I got to be a part of it. I'm still feeling so excited and proud about the whole thing. Let me tell you all about it!It all started a few months ago when our English teachers announced that we would be putting on a big show to practice our English skills. They said every class from 1st grade up to 6th grade would get to perform something different. I couldn't wait to find out what my class would be doing!A week later, we found out that my 3rd grade class would be performing a short play called "The Grumpy Troll." It's a funny story about a mean old troll who lives under a bridge and likes to scare everyone who tries to cross it. But then some smart kids outsmart the troll and teach him a lesson about being kind.I was super excited because I really love acting and putting on little skits or performances for my family at home. Gettingpicked to play one of the main roles of Billy, the brave boy who stands up to the troll, made me feel like a movie star! For the next few weeks, we practiced the play over and over again during English class. Miss Jacobs, our English teacher, helped us with our lines and showed us how to say them in a loud, clear voice. Some kids were still a little shy about speaking English, but Miss Jacobs was really supportive and helped build our confidence. We also had to make props and backgrounds for the forest scene where the troll's bridge is. I was on the team that made trees and bushes out of paper and paint. It was messy but so much fun! A few parents even came in to help put all the sets and backgrounds together. Finally, after what felt like forever, the day of the big performance arrived! Our whole school of over 500 students packed into the auditorium, along with all our families and some special guests. I've never seen the auditorium so full! I could feel my heart pounding as we peeked through the curtain at the huge crowd. The show kicked off with the 1st graders doing some super cute songs and dances all in English. They were absolutely adorable up on stage and got the whole audience cheering. Thenit was the 2nd grade's turn to perform their skit about going to the grocery store. I could see some of them looking nervous, but they did an awesome job! Before I knew it, it was time for the 3rd grade to take the stage. My palms were sweating as we took our places behind the curtain. When the curtains opened up, revealing the forest background our class made, there was a huge roar of applause and cheering from the crowd. I spotted my mom and dad right away, proudly waving at me from their seats. And just like that, our play began! The first few lines went by in a flash as the other kids and I brought the story to life. Sure, there were a couple tiny slip-ups here and there, but we just kept going. I'll never forget the huge smile on my face when it was my turn to confront the Grumpy Troll, played by my friend Jake. We nailed our lines back and forth as Billy tried to reason with the mean old troll. At the end of the play, when Billy and his friends finally taught the troll an important lesson about kindness, the cheers from the crowd were deafening! We all joined hands and took a big bow to thunderous applause. I could see my parents giving me the biggest thumbs up from their seats. What an amazing, unforgettable feeling! After we walked off stage, sweaty but still on an adrenaline high, there were more great performances by the older kids. The 4th graders did a hilarious sketch about summer camp, the 5th graders performed an English poem with actions, and the 6th graders put on an impressive debate about protecting the environment. Everyone was just so talented! At the very end, all the kids came back on stage and we did a big finale song and dance together. Every single student from 1st to 6th grade was up on that stage, celebrating our English skills with our proud families cheering us on. Talk about an awesome memory to keep forever! When it was finally all over, my parents gave me a huge hug and told me what a great job I did. They took about a million pictures of me in my costume and with my friends who were in the play too. I couldn't stop smiling! Getting to perform on stage and act out one of my favorite stories while practicing my English was such an incredibly fun experience. The next day at school, kids were still buzzing about the performance. We got tons of high-fives and congratulations from kids in other grades. Even the principal, Mr. Lam, came on the announcements that morning to tell us how proud he was of all the hard work we put in.Some of my friends were saying they wished they could do a performance like that every week because they had so much fun with it. Me too! Although it did take a lot of practice and hard work, it was definitely worth it to get the amazing feeling of being on that stage.I'm so grateful my school put together an event like this to let us practice our English in such an engaging, memorable way. It's going to make me even more excited and confident to continue learning and speaking English. Who knows, maybe I'll even end up being an actor someday! But no matter what, I'll never forget the thrill of being in my first big English performance. What an unforgettable experience!篇2The Big English ShowIt was finally here - the day of the big English show that we had all been practicing for! I was so excited and a little bit nervous too. Mrs. Jenkins, our English teacher, had been working us hard to get ready."Alright class, listen up!" she said at the beginning of English class a few months ago. "We're going to put on a hugeperformance to show off all the English we've learned this year. It's going to be amazing!"Everyone started whispering and looking around with big grins. A performance? In English? This was going to be fun!"I want ideas from all of you about what we should do. It can be anything - a play, some skits, poems, songs, whatever you can dream up! The best ideas will be part of our show," Mrs. Jenkins explained.Hands shot up all over the room. Michael yelled out "I know! We can do a scene from my favorite superhero movie!""Movies are in English too, so that's a great idea," Mrs. Jenkins replied with a nod.Emily raised her hand next. "Can we sing songs we've learned? I really like the one about the colors.""Absolutely, singing is perfect for this," Mrs. Jenkins smiled.Over the next few days, we all brought in our coolest ideas for the English show. Mrs. Jenkins wrote them all down on the big whiteboard. By the end of the week, we had an entire list covering the board from top to bottom!"Wow, you guys really went above and beyond! I'm so impressed," Mrs. Jenkins beamed, looking at all our creative ideas. "Now we just have to pick the best ones to make our show spectacular!"We took a class vote on our favorite ideas. The winners were acting out a scene from a popular movie, performing a skit from a funny TV show, reciting poems and tongue twisters, singing some of the English songs we'd practiced, and putting on a short play entirely in English."This is going to be our best show yet! I can't wait to see it all come together," Mrs. Jenkins said excitedly. "The show is in two months, so we have to start preparing right away. Let's get to work!"And work we did! Every English class was dedicated to rehearsing and getting ready. We split into groups to practice the different scenes, poems, songs and the play. I was part of the group doing the movie scene."Okay you guys, let's run through this again from the top," Taylor said. She was playing the lead hero. "And remember, loud voices and big movements! We want the audience to be able see and hear us."We practiced punching, kicking, and delivering our action hero lines. "Have no fear, Incredikid is here!" I shouted in my bravest voice."Cut! Cut! Billy, that's not quite right," Taylor stopped me. "The line is 'Have no fear, FOR Incredikid is here!' Put some more oomph into it."I tried again with even more gusto. "HAVE NO FEAR, FOR INCREDIKID IS HERE!""That's it! Brilliant!" Taylor gave me a thumbs up. "Keep that energy and we're going to steal the show."In the poetry corner, Jack was leading the group reciting tongue twisters. "Okay everyone, all together now - 'She sellsseashells by the seashore!'""She shhlls shshshellls byz shsh shreeshore?" Kevin stumbled over the tongue twister and everyone cracked up."No no no, Kevin! It's 'She SELLS seaSHELLS by the SEASHORE!' Don't get twisted!" Jack said, trying not to laugh too. "Let's take it from the top again, slowly..."The singing group could be heard belting out lyrics to "The Colors of the Rainbow" in the corner. Miss Jenkins gently corrected their pronunciation from time to time."No no, it's 'REEED is the color of...REEED, not red!' Good, like that! Keep going!" she encouraged. Finally, the group performing the play entirely in English was huddled around, running lines together in a big circle."Pardon me, do you have the time?" Lily asked in her best British accent."Yes, it's half-past twelve," Ethan replied, checking his pretend watch."A thousand thanks to you, good sir!" Lily responded with a curtsy."Oh man, I totally forgot my line there!" Ethan's face turned red. "What was it again?""It's 'You're quite welcome, young lady!' Say it like this -'You're quy-ite well-come, young ley-dee'," Omar coached him, over-enunciating the words slowly."You're quy-ite well-come, young ley-dee!" Ethan repeated, finally getting it right with Omar's help. Phew!We kept at it like this every day, making some mistakes, but getting better and better each time. Our performance was really starting to take shape! Before we knew it, the big day had arrived. We could hardly sit still in our classes that morning, we were so antsy with anticipation and excitement! Finally, the last bell rang and it was time to head to the auditorium to get ready."Alright everyone, this is it! The big show!" Mrs. Jenkins beamed as we gathered around backstage. "You've all worked so incredibly hard and I'm super proud of each and every one of you. Now go out there and show everyone what you can do! Break a leg!"My tummy was doing somersaults with nerves and exhilaration. This was really happening! I took a few deep breaths to calm down as the audience started filing in.The auditorium filled up with our parents, teachers, the principal, and even some people from the community. The lights dimmed and the curtain rose to get started.Even though I had a tiny heart attack when I forgot one of my lines during our superhero scene, we all did an amazing job! Every time a group would finish their segment, the audience would erupt in huge cheers and applause.By the end of the play, with everyone bowing together, the room was thunderous with clapping and whoops. We'd nailed it!"Wow, incredible work everybody! What an unbelievable show!" Mrs. Jenkins gushed backstage afterwards, giving us all big hugs.We were absolutely glowing with pride and accomplishment. Putting on an entire performance in English seemed impossible a few months ago. But we'd worked as a team, helped each other, and achieved something awesome together."You should all be very proud. I know I couldn't be more proud of you," Mrs. Jenkins beamed at us. "Who's ready to do it again next year?!"We all cheered and clapped - we couldn't wait to top this show next time! Performing in English was hard work, but incredibly fun and rewarding. I already had some awesome new ideas brewing...篇3My School's Awesome English PerformanceWow, what an amazing day it was! Our school had the most incredible English performance and I got to be a part of it. I'm still so excited thinking about it all.It started a few weeks ago when our English teacher, Mrs. Jones, told us we would be putting on a big show to practice our English skills. At first, I was a little nervous. Speaking English in front of a huge audience? That seemed really scary. But Mrs. Jones made it sound like it was going to be so much fun.She said we could pick what kind of performance we wanted to do. Some kids suggested doing a play, while others wanted to sing songs or do poetry readings. After a lot of discussion, we finally decided to do a variety show with a little bit of everything - acting, singing, dancing, you name it! As long as it helped show off our English abilities, it was allowed.Once we decided on the variety show idea, we split into different groups based on what we wanted to perform. I joined the group that was going to act out a short scene from a famous movie. We picked a scene from one of the Harry Potter movies because those are my absolute favorites! From there, we had to get to work. We practiced our scene what felt like a million times. At first, I kept messing up my lines or saying them in a really quiet, shy voice. But my friends in the group helped me get more confident. By the time the performance came around, I had those lines down pat!The props and costumes were also a ton of fun to work on. We made wizard robes out of old sheets and used sticks from the playground as makeshift wands. My mom even helped me draw glasses on my face to look more like Harry Potter. Getting into the full costume really helped me get into character. While my group was rehearsing our scene, the other groups were just as busy preparing their own acts. The singers had to learn all the lyrics and dance moves to their English pop songs. The dancers worked on choreographing creative routines to instrumental music. And the poets had to analyze their English poems and figure out the perfect way to recite them on stage. With so many different acts, I could tell the show was going to be super entertaining. Still, I was a tiny bit nervous about messing up in front of everyone. What if I forgot my lines or accidentally spoke in my native language instead of English? Mrs. Jones kept reassuring us that it didn't matter if we made a few mistakes - the important thing was showing how hard we had worked and having fun with it.Finally, the night of the performance arrived! Our whole school auditorium was packed with students, parents, teachers and even some people from the local community. As we peekedout from backstage, I felt my stomach filling up with butterflies. This was really happening! The show opened with the principal giving a welcome speech all in English. Then it was showtime! The first act was the dancers performing an upbeat hip-hop routine. Their moves were so sharp and energetic. The crowd went wild for them! After that, it was our group's turn to take the stage. I could hardly breathe I was so nervous. But as soon as I saw my friends' reassuring smiles, I knew we had this. We launched into our scene from Harry Potter, delivering our lines with all the dramatic English flair we could muster. I don't think I messed up a single word! When we wrapped up our scene, the audience erupted in cheers and applause. We had nailed it! As we walked off stage, we were all grinning from ear to ear. That just gave me even more confidence for the rest of the show. What followed was Act after Act of amazing English talent. There were singers belting out pop tunes, poets reciting thoughtful verses, improvisers creating skits on the spot, andmore. With each new performance, I was in more and more awe of my classmates.Eventually, after what felt like no time at all, we had reached the finale. All the different acts joined together on stage and we did an energetic group dance while singing a fun English song. Having everybody up there at once fully displayed what an awesome range of skills we had all developed. When the song ended, the crowd leapt to their feet cheering wildly. We had put on one heck of a show! As we stood there beaming and basking in the applause, I felt so proud of everything we had accomplished.Putting together this English performance was such an incredible experience from start to finish. I learned so much from all the practices and preparation. But most importantly, I became way more confident with my English speaking, acting, singing and dancing talents.I can't wait until we get to do another show like this. It was so amazing getting to put all of our hard work into an entertaining English production for our whole community to see. We rocked that stage!。
