As evidenced by the increasing popularity of hash tags like “City walk for vacation” on lifestyle sharing platform Xiaohong shu, with a staggering 465 million views and nearly 464, 600 engagements, the trend is truly capturing unbelievable attention.Citywalk, or meandering through the urban landscapes, means the act of walking freely along city streets unburdened by exhaustive plans. In Shanghai, public bus lines specially designed have been introduced to elevate the overall Citywalk for participants.“By slowing down and delving into the narrow alleys, observing the lives of city residents, and immersing oneself in the context of museums and art galleries, one is entitled to embrace the pleasure of life,” said Luo Jun, a cultural tourism enthusiast.4.What’s the main reason for the popularity of Citywalk among young people?A.It mainly focuses on urban sightseeing.B.Social media offer many tempting videos.C.Busywork schedule limits the choice of people.D.Conventional tourist landmarks are losing charm.A.Astonishing.B.Rewarding.C.Embarrassing.D.Shrinking. 6.Which of the following statements is NOT Citywalk?A.An immersive route for foreigners to enjoy the alleys in Chengdu.B.A holiday travel to hurriedly visit crowded landmarks in Shanghai.C.A free walk including visiting museums and old towns in Qingdao.D.A leisurely tour along Qiantang River to experience city transformation.7.What have some governments done to promote Citywalk?A.Facilities in the museums have been enhanced.B.Cooperation has been strengthened among cities.C.Opportunities have been offered to third-tier cities.D.Specific public transportation routes have been introduced. There are many differences in ways of thinking between East and West. Many of them are reflected in daily behaviour. In particular, Chinese people sometimes attach more importance to their appearance and social status than to their inner qualities, while Westerners think the opposite. However, Socrates (Ancient Greek philosopher) and Confucius share significant similarities that are universal. Both philosophers share several teachings in common; for example, their understanding of the nature of knowledge and their opinions on education. Socrates believed “There is only one good, knowledge;and only one evil, ignorance.” Similarly, Confucius said, “Isn’t it a pleasure to study and practice what you have learned?” But both also acknowledge the limits of knowledge. Socrates said: “All I know is that I know nothing.” Similarly, Confucius said, “When you know a thing, to hold you know it; when you don’t know a thing, to allow you don’t know it-this is knowledge.”However, there are important differences in their understanding of morality. Confucius believed each person should follow certain regulations according to virtue(德行). Everyone should play their role in a society where people are interdependent in order to achieveharmony in the whole society. For instance, when asked how to govern a country, Confucius stated “An emperor should act like an emperor, a subject should act like a subject.” Socrates, however, places self-knowledge over social knowledge.Another difference between them is their attitude towards political domination(支配). Confucius believed the best way to govern a country isn’t through legal system, but through virtue. Socrates, by contrast, declared that “nothing is more important than justice”.Why have East and West developed such different cultural values? A widely accepted theory holds that Eastern civilization was an agricultural civilization. Hence the need for a collective society and friendly relations with neighbors was strong. Western civilization, however, was nomadic(游牧的). Their mobility makes them less dependent on society after migration. In spite of their differences, the two cultures have more in common than differences. The shared concern for moral values in the teachings of Socrates and Confucius also shows us more fundamental similarities between Eastern and Western cultures in their pursuit of virtuous lives.8.What do the two philosophers share about knowledge?A.The learning of knowledge is easy.B.The learning of knowledge is endless.C.A man without knowledge is foolish.D.A man shall not pretend to understand. 9.Which of the following reflects the thoughts of Confucius in terms of morality?A.Nothing is more important than a legal system.B.I am not a Chinese, but a citizen of the world.C.Not everyone should play his own role in society.D.A man does what is proper to the position he is in.10.What is the root cause of the differences between Eastern and Western cultural values?A.The difference in political atmosphere.B.The difference in the length of history.C.The difference in economic development.D.The difference in levels of social dependency.11.What is the passage mainly about?A.Reasons for similarities of Eastern and Western cultures.B.The introduction of great figures of two different cultures.C.Comparisons of the thoughts of the two great philosophers.D.The contributions of two great philosophers to civilization. The first apes evolved 20 million years ago in the forests where they would go up a tree to get their food, and then come back down to move on to the next tree. Getting out of a tree presents all kinds of new challenges. Big apes can’t afford to fall because it could kill or badly injure them. Natural selection would have favored those with body structures that allowed them to descend safely.Dartmouth researchers report in the journal Royal Society Open Science that apes probably evolved free-moving shoulders and flexible elbows to slow their descent from trees as gravity pulled on their heavier bodies. These flexible body parts passed on from ancestral apes would have allowed early humans to climb trees at night for safety and comedown in the daylight unhurt. When early humans transitioned from forests to open savannas (热带稀树草原), flexible shoulders and elbows were crucial for gathering food and using tools for hunting and defense. The researchers used sports analysis and statistical software to study how primates(灵长目动物) like chimpanzees and small monkeys called mangabeys climbed in the wild. They found that chimps and mangabeys scaled(攀爬) trees similarly, with shoulders and elbows mostly bent close to the body. When descending, however, chimpanzees extended their arms above their heads to hold on to branches, much like a person using a ladder, to counteract(抵消) their heavier weight pulling them downward.Luke Fannin, the lead author of the study, emphasized that their findings highlight the importance of “down climbing” in the evolution of apes and early humans. He explained, “Our research introduces the idea that down climbing played a significant role in shaping the structural differences between monkeys and apes, which eventually manifested in humans.”“Our field has thought about apes climbing up trees for a long time, but we’ve been ignoring the second half of this behavior,” said Professor Jeremy DeSilva, “The findings are among the first to identify the significance of “down climbing” in the evolution of apes and early humans.12.According to paragraph 1, apes would have been favored by natural selection if .A.they have sufficient food resources.B.they come down from trees securely.C.they master skills of climbing up trees.D.they cure themselves when they’re injured.13.What is paragraph 3 mainly about?A.The similarity of two primates in tree climbingB.The evolution of two primates’ adaptation to nature.C.The analysis of primates’ tree scaling and descendingD.The application of different research methods and tools.14.Which of the following statement might DeSilva agree with?A.Descending trees has been neglected by researchers for a long time.B.The study is the first to recognize the significance of down climbingC.The evolution of apes and early humans is a result of down climbing.D.Studies on climbing down trees are more likely to have new findings.15.What is the best title of the passage?A.Chimpanzees and Mangabeys: Researches in Natural SettingsB.Apes and Humans: A Comparative Study of Climbing up TreesC.Shoulders and Elbows: Evolved as Brakes for Downclimbing ApesD.Apes’ Climbing Strategies: How to Use Different Body Parts FlexiblyIt is important to look after your body to help you to stay well and healthy for as long as you can. However, advice about caring for your body is conflicting and often confusing.difficult.17 Common sense tells us that even doing a bit more exercise or getting a bit more sleep, and not eating that second slice of cake, are likely to be helpful. The application of a little science, and quite a lot more common sense, can go a long way towards helping you to work out what’s best for you and your body. Why should you care about Your Body? Caring for your body makes sense. 18Around the world, there is a growing problem of lifestyle-related diseases. These are diseases that are, effectively, caused by the way we live our lives. Most, if not all of them, are associated with not looking after our bodies. Many are associated with being overweight and not taking enough exercise, or by putting the wrong substances into our bodies. These diseases and conditions include heart conditions, high blood pressure, many forms of cancer etc. 19 . However, looking after your body will go some way to helping you to live a healthier life, for longer. There are three very important aspects to looking after your body:getting enough rest and sleep, eating well, and taking exercise. 20 But with practice, you will get better at making sure that you take care of your body.A.It can be really hard to know what works the best.B.You cannot, of course, avoid every illness or condition.C.But if you do that too often, there will be consequences.D.However, a closer examination suggests that the situation is not quite that simple.E.Knowing what to do, and actually doing it are, of course, quite different things.F.However, just because it is puzzling does not mean the effort is not worthwhile.G.After all, you only get one body in this life, and you want it to last as long as possible.二、完形填空A group of generous mothers collected baby strollers(婴儿手推车)to help the homeless22.A.various B.cheap C.personal D.big 23.A.absence B.symbol C.character D.design 24.A.manage B.control C.predict D.represent 25.A.required B.permitted C.reminded D.promised 26.A.monitored B.examined C.assessed D.witnessed 27.A.privately B.actually C.crazily D.completely 28.A.support B.admiration C.protection D.demand. 29.A.process B.donation C.journey D.treatment 30.A.stress B.direction C.balance D.safety 31.A.repeat B.regain C.recall D.review 32.A.simple B.typical C.evident D.steady 33.A.figured out B.knocked off C.brought about D.attended to 34.A.reflected B.deserted C.handled D.inspired 35.A.apologized B.described C.displayed D.explained三、语法填空阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。

As soon as he could, he migrated to Tokyo to build a successful career as a manga artist and editor. Then in the early 2000s came “webtoons”(网络漫画), a South Korean cartoon innovation optimized for smartphones. Mr. Lee was at first unimpressed. Compared with manga’s inventive graphic styles and profound plots, he found webtoons just the opposite.Yet Japanese manga is being eclipsed(黯然失色)by Korean webtoons. Last year the manga print market shrank by 2.3% to ¥265bn ($1.9bn). The size of the global webtoons market was meanwhile valued at $3.7bn. Manga is going digital slowly, in part because it is still designed for print, so awkward to read on smartphones. Seeing which way the wind was blowing, Mr. Lee abandoned manga for the webtoon industry in 2014.Though webtoons such as “Itaewon Class” and “Solo Levelling” have become popular among Japanese consumers, most Japanese publishers have stuck stubbornly to manga. “The Japanese industry is very conservative,” sighs Mr. Lee. The manga industry’s business model, in which stories are first published in weekly magazines and then in books, has hardly changed since the 1960s. Webtoons have grown so fast, in part because they can be read more easily. Other recent South Korean exports, such as the Netflix sensation “Squid Game” and BTS, a boy band, have taken the world by storm thanks to the same combination of innovation and smart marketing behind webtoons. Some are concerned about the future. Japan’s manga fans are, like all its population, aging. The average reader of the Weekly Shonen Magazine, a manga for children launched in 1989, is now over 30. “Manga could end up as old people’s culture,” warns Mr Lee. “Children these days are viewing through webtoons on their smartphones. Why not make something that suits their taste?”24. What did Mr Lee think of “webtoons” in the early 2000s?A. He considered it as inventive.B. He considered it as attractive.C. He considered it as original.D. He considered it as shallow.25. Why does the author mention numbers in paragraphs 2 ?A. To confirm the advantages of smartphones.B. To share the popularity of Japanese manga.C. To introduce the influence of webtoons industry on Japanese manga.D. To compare Mr. Lee’s career as an artist and an editor.26. What can we learn from Japanese manga?A. Japanese manga can be read more easily.B. Since the 1960s, the manga has grown so fast.C. The manga industry is unwilling to transform.D. “Squid Game” was adopted from Japanese manga.27. What is Mr. Lee’s attitude towards manga’s future?A. Worried.B. Aggressive.C. Confident.D. Annoyed.CAs athletes get stronger and faster, the pace of play continues to increase. The burden of making sure games are played according to the rules and that the officiating (裁判) is accurate is now being taken out of human hands and falling more and more into the lap of technology. It's called the video replay. The National Football League is expanding its replay system this upcoming season to include pass interference (传球干扰). Major League Baseball now relies on it for safe-or-out and home run calls. If you've been watching the FIFA World Cup, you may have noticed that the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) played a key role in almost every game. And in the Kentucky Derby, a horse was disqualified for knocking another horse. No one knew why until a video replay confirmed the call and controversy was avoided. However, many purists—those who want people to follow rules carefully and do things in the traditional way—especially in soccer, argue it's not the way the game was invented, and that the video replay is tainting the sport. But don't you want to see the proper application of the rules throughout the games? I know I do. Yes, it can slow the game down, but I feel it is worth it. If technological advancements allow fans watching from home to spot mistakes instantly, those sameviews need to be available to the officiating crews. Another example occurred in the most recent National Football Conference (NFC) Championship Game between the Los Angeles Rams and the New Orleans Saints. When obvious pass interference was committed by the Los Angeles Rams player Nickell Robey-Coleman, with just 109 seconds to play, no flag was raised on the field. It weakened the New Orleans Saints spirits. The Los Angeles Rams won a 26-23 overtime victory. The no-call deeply angered the public. The video replay showed the referees had just missed one of the most apparent pass interference calls. There are no easy answers regarding replay technology and whether it is a curse (魔咒). But for me, keeping the officiating honest and on task is the right step in limiting controversy.28. What trend in sports can be observed in paragraph 2?A. The video replay has been widely used.B. League games have become competitive.C. Rules of professional games are becoming stricter.D. People are showing more interest in sports than before.29. What does the underlined word “tainting” in paragraph 3 mean?A. Tricking.B. Promoting.C. Damaging.D. Restoring.30. What might the New Orleans Saints think of the referees in the NFC Championship Game?A. They relied a lot on the video replay.B. They cared too much about details.C. They were definitely stressed out.D. They were terribly disqualified.31. What would be the best title for the text?A. Video replays: high-end technology in sportsB. Is technology like VAR a blessing in sports?C. Officiating: a duty that requires honestyD. What do qualified referees really mean?DOne key element of human language is semantics(语义). Scientists had long thought that unlike our words, animal vocalizations (发声) were involuntary, reflecting the emotional state of the animal without conveying any other information. But over the last four decades, numerous studieshave shown that various animals have distinct calls with specific meanings. Many bird species use different alarm calls. Japanese tits, which nest in tree holes, have one call that causes their baby birds to get down to avoid being pulled out of the nest by crows, and another call for tree snakes that sends them jumping out of the nest entirely. Siberian jays vary their calls depending on whether an enemy is seen looking for food or actively attacking—and each call gets a different response from other nearby birds. Two recent studies suggested that the order of some birds' vocalizations may impact their meaning. Though the idea is still controversial, this could represent a basic form of the rules governing the order and combination of words and elements in human language known as syntax (句法), as illustrated by the classic "dog bites man" vs. "man bites dog" example.Even if some birds share basic aspects of human language, we still know very little about what’s actually going on in their minds. Most animal communication research has focused on describing signals and behavior, which on the surface can look a lot like human behavior. Determining if the underlying cognitive(认知的) processes driving the behavior are also similar is much more challenging, as at the heart of this question is intentionality: Are animals merely reacting to their environment, or do they intend to convey information to one another?32. What was scientists’ long-held belief about animal vocalizations?A. They conveyed no emotion.B. They were semantically related.C. They varied greatly with species.D. They expressed no intended meaning.33. How does the author develop paragraph 2?A. By listing data.B. By giving examples.C. By providing definition.D. By making comparison.34. What does the underlined word “this” in paragraph 3 refer to?A. What birds’ vocalizations mean.B. How rules govern human language.C. What the two recent studies indicate.D. How bird’s vocalizations are combined.35. What does the last paragraph mainly tell us?A. Shared aspects of human and birds’ languages.B. Focus of most animal communication research.C. Underlying cognitive processes of birds’ vocalizations.D. Insufficient knowledge about birds’ communication intentionally.第二节根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项.(共5小题,每小题2.5分,共12.5分)Revenge bedtime procrastination (报复性睡眠拖延症) refers to the decision to delay sleep in response to stress or a lack of free time earlier in the day. He has let me use his house to put on fund-raising events to raise money for youth at risk programs .The last time I was there he introduced me by saying, "I want to tell you why I let Jack use my house.” It all goes back to a story about a young man who was the son of a horse trainer who would go from stable (马棚) to stable, race track to race track, farm to farm and ranch(d 大牧场) to ranch, training horses. As a result, the boy's high school career was continually interrupted. When he was a senior, he was asked to write a paper about what he wanted to be and do when he grew up.”That night he wrote a seven-page paper describing his goal of someday owning a horse ranch .He wrote about his dream in great detail and he even drew a diagram (图解) of a 200-acre ranch, showing the location of all the buildings, the stables and the track. Then he drew a detailed floor plan for a 4,000-square-foot house that would sit on a 200-acre dream ranch .”He put a great deal of his heart into the project and the next day he handed it in to his teacher. Two days later he received his paper back. On the front page was a large red F with a note that read, "See me after class.”21.Why can the writer use Roberts's house to raise money for youth at risk programs?A. The teacher wanted to tell him that his dream would come true.D. The teacher would encourage him.BWe live in a technological society where most goods are mass-produced by unskilled labor. Because of this, most people think that craft(手艺) no longer exists. One of the ways these people wrongly support their view is by pointing to 100-year-old homes which are still solid, and arguing that it is the craftsmanship that is responsible for their durability(持久性). “Homes in those days were well-built,”they say. No doubt these homes were well-built, but what these people have done is mix up the quality of material used in the house with the quality of the craftsmanship.Homes today could be built to last just as long as those old homes if people were willing or able to pay the price. For example, more people can no longer afford solid oak stairways, although they were once fairly common in older homes. Nor can they afford the high labor cost of employing a carpenter(木匠) to build the stairway. Yet if someone can pay the high cost, there are still plenty of carpenters around able to make those stairways. And not only would these carpenters know how to build them, they would probably do a better job than carpenters of old.One thing the modern carpenter has which enables him to do a better job is much more advanced tools. Such tools as laser beams and power planes help them lay out a house better and make more precision cuts(精确切割)on the wood. Also, it is not uncommon any more to find carpenters with college degrees and carpenters with a solid knowledge of mathematics, which would enable them to deal with more difficult house designs. The problem of modern quality, then, really boils down to the problem of material, for the modern carpenter is just as able to produce craftsmanship as the carpenter of fifty years ago, but only if given proper material.24. Compared to the carpenters in the past, modern carpenters are__________.A. more successfulB. more learnedC. more imaginativeD. more hardworking25. What does the underlined word “they” (paragraph2) refer to?A. Carpenters who are fond of oak stairways.B. Carpenters who have college degrees.C. people who think highly of carpenters of oldD. people who think that modern material is of low quality.26. What does the third paragraph mainly discuss?A. People in the past preferred to use oak to build stairways.B. It is now expensive to employ a carpenter.C. Modern houses last as long as the old one.D. Good carpenters still exist in modern times.27. What would be the best title for the text?A. Is Craft Dead?B. Craft, Back to Life?C. History of CraftsmanshipD. Carpenters Today and YesterdayCA primary school teacher who left a class of 25 pupils in tears after she told them Santa Claus did not exist has been fired. When excited youngsters became rowdy as they talked about Santa, the supply teacher said out suddenly,“It's your parents who leave out presents on Christmas Day.”The class of sevenyearolds at Blackshaw Lane Primary School,Royton,Greater Manchester burst into tears and told their parents when they arrived home.Mothers and fathers then complained about the incident and were sent a letter by the school saying the teacher, who only worked at the school for one day last week, has been disciplined. The school has now said it will not hire her again. One father said,“My son came home and said that his teacher had told the class that Santa doesn't exist and it's their mum and dad that put out presents for them. Obviously, they were all talking about Christmas and being a bit rowdy. She just came straight out with it.”“My son was in tears and so was everyone else in the class—especially as it was so close to Christmas. I thought it was wrong. He was crazy about it. He's only seven years old and it's part of the magic of Christmas to him.”“We told him that she did not bel ieve in Father Christmas because of her religion and he's fine now.”“The father described the incident as ‘shocking’and believed it was done with malicious intent(恶意地).A lot of parents were angry and complained to the school. The teacher, who was supplied by Rochdale and Oldham Supply Agency,is still listed and will work with other schools,”the agency said. However, the head teacher in Angela McCormick refused to comment on the incident.28.Who felt the angriest about the incident?A.The teacher who was fired.B.The pupils who were in tears.C.The parents whose children cried.D.Santa Claus the teacher talked about.29.The sevenyearold children cried because of ________.A.their teacher's leavingB.the letters by the schoolC.something about Santa ClausD.the presents left out by the parents30.We can infer from the passage that ________.A.the teacher was fired and couldn't continue her career in teachingB.the parents complained about the discipline of the schoolC.the little pupils felt disappointed after hearing the news told by the teacherD.in reality,Santa Claus exists and gives out presents once a year. 31.What's the meaning of the underlined word“rowdy”?A.Surprised. But it doesn’t come from Hollywood—it’s Hallyu(韩流), the wave of Korean pop culture that has washed over Asia. It has influenced everything from music to television. And thanks to the Internet and social media, it’s now spreading worldwide.South Korea produces all types of entertainment, the most popular being music, soap operas and films. What makes Hallyu so hot in Asia? One reason is that its products are of high quality and much cheaper than western products. Another reason is that eastern cultures are similar to each other, although there arelanguage differences.Korean pop music, or “K-pop”, ranks the firs t everywhere. Fans love the songs and the attractive stars. Companies like SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment and YG Entertainment help many K-pop stars, such as Super Junior, Big Bang and Rain, to succeed. They are not only popular in Asia but also enjoy popularity in the West. In 2011, Big Bang’s mini-album Tonight reached the top 10 on U.S. Tunes Top Pop Albums. When SM Entertainment took their 2010 world tour to Los Angeles, only 30 percent of the 15,000 fans were Korean. Half of the audience wasn’t ev en Asian! One important reason for the success of Hallyu is simply the Internet. A little more than 10 years ago, Korean soap operas, movies and music reached the outside world quite slowly. They began in Korea, and then gradually spread outward, appearing in its neighboring countries where local TV and radio companies would play them. Now they are played around the world online at the same time.YouTube is another major way to get Korean entertainment to fans everywhere. It is an inexpensive and valid way for artists to introduce their work to a larger audience. In 2010 the YouTube channels for the top three Korean entertainment groups together had nearly 800 million views from 225 different countries.32.Hallyu is very hot in Asia partly because________.A. languages in Asia are similar to each otherB. the culture is the most fashionable in the worldC. the quality of South Korea’s products is highD.
