It is one of their ways to 65 that they have grown up and they can face any difficult situation. Older people worry more easily. Most of them plan things ahead, at least in the back of their minds, and do not like their plans to be upset by something 66 .When you want your parents to let you do something, you will be more 67 if you ask for their permission before you really start doing it.Young people often make their parents angry at their 68 in clothes, in entertainment and music. But they do not mean to 69 ; it is just that they feel cut off from the older people's world, into which they have not yet been 70 . That's why young people want to make a new culture of their own. And if their parents do not like music or entertainment or clothes or their way of speech, this will make the young people extremely happy.Sometimes you are so 71 yourself that you do not want your parents to say "yes" to what you do. All you want is to be left alone and do what you like. For each of them there are four choices marked A, B, C and D. Choose the one that fits best according to the information given in the passage you have just read.(A)Why do men die earlier than women? The latest research makes it known that the reason could be that men's hearts go into rapid decline when they reach middle age.The largest study of the effects of ageing on the heart has found that women's longevity maybe linked to the fact that their hearts do not lose their pumping power with age."We have found that the power of the male heart falls by 20--25 percent between 18 and 70 ears of age," said the head of the study, David Goldspink of Liverpool John Moores University in the UK."Within the heart there are millions of cells that enable it to beat. Between the age of 20 and 70, one-third of those cells die and are not replaced in men," said Goldspink. 'This is part of the ageing process."What surprises scientists is that the female heart sees very little loss of these cells.A healthy 70-year-old woman's heart could perform almost as well as a 20-year-old one's.This gender difference might just explain why women live longer than men," said Goldspink. They studied more than 250 healthy men and women between the ages of 18 and 80, focusing on healthy persons to remove the confusing influence of disease. The team has yet to find why ageing takes a greater loss on the male heart, said Goldspink. The good news is that men can improve the health of their heart with regular exercise. Goldspink stressed that women also need regular exercise to prevent their leg muscles becoming smaller and weaker as they age.76. The underlined word "longevity" in the second paragraph probably refers to_______.A. healthB. long lifeC. ageingD. effect77. She could already spell words that many others could not, but she knew that a real champion had to spell every word that he or she was asked. She studied many lists of words and learned all the rules for correct spelling.Paige Pipkin became such a good speller that she was able to win many contests - so many that she traveled to Washington, D. C. to compete in the national spelling contest that is held there each year. When finally there were only two spellers left, Paige learned how difficult it is to be the very best: she spelled her last word wrong. She was proud to be the second best speller in the United States, but she was sorry not to return home as a champion. This is not the end of the story. Paige, a very determined young lady, continued to compete in spelling contests. A year later, when she was thirteen, she again found herself competing in the nation's capital. This time her last word was sarcophagus. If she could spell that word, she would truly be the national champion.Slowly, nervously, but carefully, she said, "S-A-R-C-O-P-H-A-G-U-S." Moments later, she was given a large trophy , and she was indeed the champion speller of theUnited States. On a bus you may look at a stranger, but not too long. And if he is sensing that he is being stared at, he may feel uncomfortable. The same in daily life. If you are looked at for more than necessary time, you will look at yourself up and down, to see if there is anything wrong with you. If nothing goes wrong, you will feel angry toward others' stare with you that way. Eyes do speak, right?Looking too long at someone may seem to be rude and aggressive. But things are different when it comes to staring at the opposite sex. If a man glances at a woman for more than 10 seconds and refuses to avert(转移) his gaze, his intentions are obvious: he wishes to attract her attention, to make her understand that he is admiring her. However, the normal eye contact for two people engaged in conversation is that the speaker will only look at the listener from time to time, in order to make sure that the listener does pay attention to what the former is speaking. As for the listener, he will, to a certain extent, look continuously at the speaker, to tell him that he is attentive. If a speaker looks at you continuously when speaking, as if he tries to dominate you, you will feel upset. A poor liar usually exposes himself by looking too long at the victim, since he believes in the false idea that to look straight in the eve is a sign of honest communication. Quite the contrary. In fact, continuous eye contact is confined to (局限于) lovers only, who will enjoy looking at each other tenderly for a long time, to Show affection that words can not express.Evidently, eye contact should be done according to the relationship between people and the specific situation.85. Sannjeev Michael Watson was last seen Sunday morning when he pushed his 17-year-old companion back into their overturned canoe, then disappeared after swimming off to get back the paddles(桨). “His friend couldn’t swim that well, so my son saved him first and ended up giving his life,” said his mother Mona Watson. Her son, a strong swimmer, and his friend were heading out in thecanoe(独木舟)to watch the sun rise over the lake about 12 kilometers west of Huntsville when the canoe turned over. “It was still dark and foggy,” said Constable Harry Rawluk of the Huntsville detachment of the Provincial Police. “Neither man was wearing a life jacket and there were none in the canoe”, said Rawluk. Each ship or boat is required to be equipped with a life jacket for each occupant but they do not have to be worn at all times. When Watson disappeared, the friend used his hands to paddle 300 meters to the shore to get help. “His friend is extremely upset in mind. He keeps saying over and over, He gave his life to save me,” said Watson. “The incident helped to show the importance of life jackets,” said Rawluk, “We can’t emphasize enough how important it is for all boaters to wear life jackets even on a small lake like this one,” he said. They say one day in the future all the autos will be thrown away and that we won't use them any more. Others, however, think the auto is here to stay. They hold that the car will remain a leading means of urban travel in the foreseeable future. The motorcar will undoubtedly change a lot over the next 30 years. It should become smaller, safer, and more economical, and should not be powered by the gas engine. The car of the future should be far more pollution-free than present types.Regardless of its power source, the auto in the future will still be the main problem in the urban traffic jam. One suggested solution to this problem is the automated highway system. When the auto enters the highway system, a retractable(可伸缩的) arm will drop from the auto and make contact with a rail, which is similar to those powering subway trains electrically. Once attached to the rail, the car will become electrically powered from the system, and control of the vehicle will pass to a central computer. The computer will then monitor all of the car's movements. The driver will use a telephone to dial instructions about his destination into the system. The computer will calculate the best route, and reserve space for the car all the way to the correct exit from the highway; the driver will then be free to relax and wait for the buzzer that will warn him of his coming exit. It is estimated that such ahighway will be able to handle 10,000 vehicles per hour, compared with the 1,500 to 2,000 vehicles that can be carried by a present-day highway.92. What provides auto with electric power in the automated highway system?A. A retractable armB. An engineC. A railD. a computer controller93. After putting in the information concerned, all the driver needs to do is to________.A. keep in the right laneB. inform the system of his destination by phoneC. keep in constant touch with the computer centerD. wait to arrive at his destination94. What is the author's main concern?A. How to make automobiles pollution-free.B. How to make smaller and safer automobiles.C. How to solve the problem of traffic jams.D. 一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解Garbage sorting has become a hot issue around China, especially after Shanghai began carrying out a regulation on July 1.Beijing, as a forerunner in environmental protection, has thus been expected to follow suit. The capital of the country has long been campaigning for sorting and recycling household waste, as part of its environmental drive for sustainable growth, local media reported. The current regulation gives garbage sorting responsibilities to government departments, property management groups and other organizations. It also gives rules for companies, outlining how they're responsible for waste collection, transportation and treatment. Only individuals are not subject to responsibilities. The long-awaited revision will soon change the situation, "Taking out the trash without sorting it properly will be illegal," said Sun Xinjun, director of the Beijing Commission of Urban Management. In Shanghai, violators are now fined up to 200 yuan ($30)for trash-sorting violations. The maximum fine in Beijing will not be less than that, he said. The Beijing city government first set out to promote garbage sorting in 2009. Authorities have since called on citizens to sort their household waste into four types-recyclable waste, kitchen trash, dangerous waste and others-and leave it in a corresponding dustbin or trash can. Blue-colored dustbins signify items within are recyclable, green represents kitchen trash, red corresponds to dangerous materials and grey to other waste. To promote the awareness of garbage sorting and expand the base of participants, authorities have employed workers to help residents on the spot. With intelligent devices, those who throw in recyclable waste at given sites will be rewarded with bonus points, which can be used to buy daily goods. At some communities, there are no color-coded dustbins. Instead, a scheduled garbage collection service is offered to help improve the environment. In other communities, workers offer a door-to-door service to collect recyclables or kitchen waste.Beijing Environmental Sanitation Engineering Group has been promoting new garbage sorting facilities such as recycling cabinets and smart kitchen waste trash cans since 2016, Xinhua News Agency reported. Nearly 26,000 metric tons of household waste is generated across Beijing on a daily basis and 29 terminal garbage disposal facilities are working at full capacity. This might be called laziness, but Dr. Kleitman has a new explanation. He has proved that everyone has a daily energy cycle.During the hours when you labor through your w ork you may say that you’re “hot”. That’s true. The time of day when you feel most energetic is when your cycle of body temperature is at its peak, For some people the peak comes during the forenoon. For others it comes in the afternoon or evening. No one has discovered why this is so, but it leads to such familiar monologues (自言自语)as: “Get up, John! You’ll be late for work again!” The possible explanation to the trouble is that John is at his temperature-and-energy peak in the evening. Much family quarrelling ends when husbands and wives realize what these energy cycles mean, and which cycle each member of the family has.You can’t change your energy cycle, but you can learn to make your life fit it better. Habit can help, Dr. Kleitman believes. Maybe you’re sleepy in the evening but feel you must stay up late anyway. Counteract(对抗)your cycle to some extent by habitually staying up later than you want to. If our energy is low in the morning but you have an important job to do early in the day, rise before your usual hour. This won’t change your cycle, but you’ll get up steam and work better at your low point.Get off to a slow start which saves your energy. Get up with a leisurely yawn and stretch. Sit on the edge of the bed a minute before putting your feet on the floor. Avoid the troublesome search for clean clothes by laying them out the night before. Whenever possible, do routine work in the afternoon and save tasks requiring more energy or concentration for your sharper hours.86. Which of the following statements is NOT TRUE?A. Getting off to work with a minimum effort helps save one’s energy.B. Dr. Kleitman explains why people reach their peaks at different hours of day.C. Habit helps a person adapt to his own energy cycle.D. Children have energy cycles, too.(C)In many American schools the holiday celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday is used as an opportunity to teach children about his life and legacy. But in too many of those same schools, Black children's extraordinary talents are still being wasted today. Nearly three-quarters of Black fourth and eighth grade public school students cannot read or compute at grade level.Black students made up only 18 percent of students in public schools in 2009-2010 but were 40 percent of students who received one or more out-of-school suspensions (暂被停学).A Black public school student is suspended every four seconds. Black students are more than twice as likely to drop out of school as White students. Each school day 763 Black high school students drop out. So I applaud the U.S. Departments of Education and Justice for their recent action to address harmful school discipline policies that push so many thousands of black children out of school each year and into the teenager justice and adult prison pipeline. If the education system is to do its part in replacing it with a cradle(摇篮) to college, career and success pipeline,we must end the current practice where children in the greatest need are suspended from school mostly for nonviolent offenses. These resources, officially known as "guidance," will help schools and districts meet their legal responsibility to protect students from discrimination on the basis of race, color or national origin as required under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. As we recognize the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and so many other important hard-won victories in the Civil Rights Movement this year, we must remember those victories could be lost without meaningful enforcement of the laws advocates fought so hard to win half a century ago. While the guidance does not prohibit schools or districts from using any particular nondiscriminatory policy, it does doubt some policies that have historically excluded Black students and are of questionable educational value including "zero tolerance" discipline policies which require compulsory consequences for certain infractions(违反),and policies that prevent students from returning to school after completion of a court sentence.Information of the new guidance recommendations is available at this government website for almost every school and district in the country. Check your own school district now to see whether the discipline policy is focused on creating a positive school climate and preventing misbehavior, whether consequences are clear, appropriate and consistent, and whether there is a commitment to fairness in the application of discipline.90. What does the first paragraph mainly talk about?A. Unsatisfactory situation of Black students’ education.B. Life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.C. The percentage of Black students dropping out of school.D. The holiday celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.91. The guidance issued by the U.S. Departments of Education and Justice may________.A. punish Black children for dropping out of school.B. prevent Black children from coming back to school after a court sentence.C. push thousands of Black children out of school each year.D. protect Black children from being suspended for nonviolent offenses.92. According to the passage, the "zero tolerance" discipline policies________.A. prevent Black children from being absent from school.B. are prohibited by the guidance.C. have questionable consequences.D. were considered discriminatory when they were released.93. Which of the following is the best title for the passage?A. Criticism of the Education SystemB. Steps Forward on School DisciplineC. Suggestions on the Civil Rights ActD. Victories in the Civil Rights Movement(D)One hundred years ago, "Colored" was the typical way of referring to Americans of African descent. Twenty years later, it was purposefully dropped to make way for "Negro." By the late 1960s, that term was overtaken by "Black." And then, at a press conference in Chicago in 1988, Jesse Jackson declared that "African American" was the term to embrace. This one was chosen because it echoed the labels of groups, such as "Italian Americans" and "Irish Americans," that had already been freed of widespread discrimination.A century’s worth of calculated name changes point to the fact that naming any group is a politically freighted exercise. A 2001 study cataloged all the ways in which the term "Black" carried connotations (涵义) that were more negative than those of "African American."But if it was known that "Black" people were viewed differently from "African Americans," researchers, until now, hadn’t identified what that gap in perception was derived from. A recent study, conducted by Emory University’s Erika Hall, found that "Black" people are viewed more negatively than "African Americans" because of a perceived difference in socioeconomic status. As a result, "Black" people are thought of as less competent and as having colder personalities. The study’s most striking findings shed light on the racial biases permeatingthe professional world. Even seemingly harmless details on a resume, it appears, can tap into recruiters’ biases. A job application might mention affiliations with groups such as the "Wisconsin Association of African-American Lawyers" or the "National Black Employees Association," the names of which apparently have consequences, and are also beyond their members’ control. In one of the study’s experiments, subjects were given a brief description of a man from Chicago with the last name Williams. To one group, he was identified as "African-American," and another was told he was "Black." With little else to go on, they were asked to estimate Mr. William’s salary, professional standing, and educational background. The "African-American" group estimated that he earned about $ 37 000 a year and had a two-year college degree. The "Black" group, on the other hand, put his salary at about $ 29 000, and guessed that he had only "some" college experience. Nearly three-quarters of the first group guessed that Mr. Williams worked at a managerial level, while only 38.5 percent of the second group thought so.Hall’s findings suggest there’s an argument to be made for electing to use "African American," though one can’t help but get the sense that it’s a decision that papers over the urgency of continued progress. Perhaps a new phrase is needed, one that can bring everyone one big step closer to realizing Du Bois’s original, idealistic hope: “It’s not the name-it’s the Thing that counts.”94. Why did Jesse Jackson embrace the term "African American" for people of African descent?A. It is free from racial biases.B. It represents social progress.C. It is in the interest of common Americans.D. It follows the standard naming practice.95. What does the author say about the naming of an ethnic group?A. It advances with the times.B. Many applicants don't attend to details on their resumes.C. Job seekers should all be careful about their affiliations.D. Most recruiters are unable to control their racial biases.97. What does Erika Hall find in her experiment about a man with the last name Williams?A. African Americans fare better than many other ethnic groups.B. Black people's socioeconomic status in America remains low.C. People's conception of a person has much to do with the way he or she is labeled.D. One's professional standing and income are related to their educational background.98. What is Dr. Du Bois's ideal?A. All Americans enjoy equal rights.B. A person is judged by their worth.C. For example, I remember a woman who was head of a middle school telling me that she had happened to look out of her window when the children were in the playground and had seen them putting a small boy on a chair with a rope round his neck and the rope over the branch of a tree; fortunately she was in time to get there before the child was hung. I remember a film in particular in which the hero who was imprisoned had escaped by electrocuting his guard, the technique of doing this being shown in detail. This was the kind of scene which we could cut for these reasons. In films for young people and adults we always tried to keep off the screen any details of criminal techniques, such as how to open a locked door with a piece of hard plastic or how to open a safe; if we were consulted before production, I used to advise that the details should not be shown. When I gave talks in prisons about film checking I had full support for this, since fathers who were in prison for criminal offences did not want their children to get on crime.Every time I gave a talk in a prison someone used to mention the French film Rififi made by Jules Dassin in 1954. This remarkable film showed in great detail a robbery of a jeweler’s shop, the robbery lasting about half an hour and being backed only by natural sound.., one of the most brilliant film sequences of all time. I remember our discussions at the time. We thought that the robbery was finished only with the use of advanced and obviously expensive equipment and that only the most experienced and skilled criminals could possibly imitate it; we believed therefore that it was relatively safe. When talking in prisons some years rater I learned that there had been several robberies in which the techniques had been copied, so perhaps we were wrong.72. The writer thinks that _______.A. the details of the criminal technique should be keptB. the details of the crime should not be shown on the screenC. children should not imitate what they saw on the screenD. it was dangerous to imitate what they had seen on the screen73. What was the writer's attitude towards the film in which the hero had escaped by electrocuting the guard?A. The writer kept the same opinion.B. The writer was strongly against it.C. The writer thought the film had some value.D. The writer did not show his/her attitude.74. All the following statements about “Rififi” are true EXCEPT _____.A. that the robbery shown needs experience and skillsB. that some very good tools were used in the robberyC. that the film showed the technique in detailD. that the technique of the robbery was not imitated75. It can be inferred from the passage thatA. it is hard for the children to tell the differences between real life and the imaginaryB. only the people in prison supported film checkingC. only children imitated what they had seen on the screenD. the writer used to advise the details of crime should be shown(E)Section DClothes play a critical role in the conclusions we reach by providing clues to who people are, who they are not, and who they would like to be. They tell us a good deal about the wearer's background, personality, status, mood and social outlook.Since clothes are such an important source of social information, we can use them to manipulate people's impression of us. Our appearance assumes particular significance in the initial phases of interaction that is likely to occur. An elderly middle-class man or woman may be alienated by a young adult who is dressed in an unconventional manner, regardless of the person's education, background, or interests.People tend to agree on what certain types of clothes mean. Adolescent girls can easily agree on the lifestyles of girls who wear certain outfit, including the number of boyfriends they likely have had and whether they smoke or drink. Newscasters, or the announcers who read the news on TV, are considered to be more convincing, honest, and competent when they are dressed conservatively. And college students who view themselves as taking an active role in their interpersonal relationships say they are concerned about the costumes they must wear to play these roles successfully. Moreover, many of us can relate instances in which the clothing we wore changed the way we felt about ourselves and how we acted. Perhaps you have used clothing to gain confidence when you anticipated a stressful situation, such as a job interview, or a court appearance. In the workplace, men have long had well-defined precedents and role models for achieving success. It has been otherwise for women. A good many women in the business world are uncertain about the appropriate mixture of "masculine" and "feminine" attributes they should convey by their professional clothing. The variety of clothing alternatives to women has also been greater than that available for men. Male administrators tend to judge women more favorably for managerial positions when the women display less "feminine" shorter hair, moderate use of make- up, and plain tailored clothing. As one male administrator confessed, "An attractive woman is definitely going to get a longer interview, but she won't get a job."(Note: Answer the questions or complete the statements in NO MORE THAN 10 WORDS)81. What do clothes tell us about the wearer?82. Why are newsreaders more convincing, honest and competent?83. The reason why college students are concerned about their costumes is _____in their interpersonal relationships.84. The word "precedent" (Pare. 4) probably refers to early examples ______.IV. It is one of their ways to 65 that they have grown up and they can face any difficult situation. Older people worry more easily. Most of them plan things ahead, at least in the back of their minds, and do not like their plans to be upset by something 66 .When you want your parents to let you do something, you will be more 67 if you ask for their permission before you really start doing it.Young people often make their parents angry at their 68 in clothes, inentertainment and music. For each of them there are four choices marked A, B, C and D. Choose the one that fits best according to the information given in the passage you have just read.(A)Why do men die earlier than women? The latest research makes it known that the reason could be that men's hearts go into rapid decline when they reach middle age.The largest study of the effects of ageing on the heart has found that women's longevity maybe linked to the fact that their hearts do not lose their pumping power with age."We have found that the power of the male heart falls by 20--25 percent between 18 and70 ears of age," said the head of the study, David Goldspink of Liverpool John Moores University in the UK."Within the heart there are millions of cells that enable it to beat. Between the age of 20 and 70, one-third of those cells die and are not replaced in men," said Goldspink. 'This is part of the ageing process."What surprises scientists is that the female heart sees very little loss of these cells. A healthy 70-year-old woman's heart could perform almost as well as a 20-year-old one's.This gender difference might just explain why women live longer than men," said Goldspink. The underlined word "longevity" in the second paragraph probably refers to _______.A. healthB. long lifeC. ageingD. Paige, a very determined young lady, continued tocompete in spelling contests. A year later, when she was thirteen, she again found herself competing in the nation's capital. It is estimated that such a highway will be able to handle 10,000 vehicles per hour, compared with the 1,500 to 2,000 vehicles that can be carried by a present-day highway.92. But there is one game at which expert human players continue to dominate machines: Go( 围棋 ). But researchers at Google DeepMind announced today that they ’ ve created a sophisticated artificial intelligence program that has beaten a Go ch ampion for the first time in history. To understand what the DeepMind researchers did to create such an impressive program you first have to appreciate why Go is such a difficult game for computers. First, Go has a ridiculous number of possible moves and outcomes—according to the researchers, there are more possible positions in Go than the number of atoms in the universe. The reason why computer had a hard time with Go, explains Jonathan Schaeffer, a computer scientist, is that Go players need a large pool of knowledge—past experiences with the game—to draw from.“ In chess a computer can follow preprogrammed rules, but it is not workable for Go, because the game is largely about patterns rather than a set of logical rules that can be written down. The DeepMind team ’system addresses both the massive search and lack of knowledgeproblems. In a newly-published study, they describe combining a search technique and deeplearning to overcome these obstacles. To solve the knowledge problem, the researchers used “ deepneural networks”two—13-layer-deep networks that consist of millions of connections and trained them with two methods:For one network, they showed the computer more than 30 million moves from games played byhuman experts to help the system learn how the best players win; and for both, the researchers hadthe computer play thousands of games with itself to discover new strategies and learn the gameon its own. These two training strategies allowed the computer to recognize patterns in the gameand identify what moves gave it the best chance of winning. For the search problem, the researchers exploited the Monte Carlo Tree Search Technique, which allows the system to use statistics to determine the best move, rather than play out everypossible outcome. The search technique used by the DeepMind team is not new. What makesDeepMind ’ s AlphaGo so advanced is the way they put together all the tools, along with the highperformance of the deep neural networks.“ The main novelty is in how they ese ’ ve combined th different ingredients together— they ’ veinnovated in doing that,”says Yoshua, a computerscientist. Now AlphaGo has an immediate problem: how to beat the world’ s best Go player, Lee Sedol. This March the two will play each other in Seoul, South Korea. And although AlphaGo playedwell against Fan Hui, Schaeffer still predict Sedol will win the match.“ But I think the pro wil shocked at how strong the program is,”Forhenow, saysat. least some people are still placingtheir bets on humans.93.What did AlphaGo achieve for the first time in history according to the passage?A. A ridiculous quantity of results based on how it moves in one game.B. Winning almost all the games against other artificial intelligence program.C. Being the first Google product in Go game.D. Beating a human champion Go expert.94. The researchers made the AlphaGo so impressive a program by ________.A. using Monte Carlo Tree Search, though it’ s not a brand new approach to solving the issue.B. implementing a complicated deep-learning system for computer to identify the best move.C. figuring out how to help computer play out all moves and recognize the best possible。

As a result, facial expressions that had been considered universally recognizable cannot be used to 46 convey emotion in a cross-cultural situation. The researchers studied cultural differences in the 47 of facial expressions by recording the eye movements of 13 Western people and 13 East Asian people while they observed pictures of 48 faces and put them into categories: happy, sad, surprised, fearful, disgusted, angry, or neutral (中立的). They compared how accurately participants read those facial expressions using their particular eye movement strategies. It turned out that Easterners focused much greater attention on the eyes and made 49 more errors than did Westerners. “The cultu ral difference in eye movements that they show is probably a reflection of cultural difference in facial expressions,” Jack said. “Our data suggest that whereas Westerners use the whole face to convey emotion, Easterners use the eyes more and mouth less.”In short, the data show that facial expressions are not universal signals of human emotion. From here on, 50 how cultural factors have differed in these basic social skills will help our understanding of human emotion. Otherwise, when it comes to communicating emotions across cultures, Easternersand Westerners will find themselves lost in translation.Ⅲ. The special phenomenon about birds pairs.B. The conflict of bird pairs.C. The cooperation of bird pairs.D. The piece of music for bird pairs.(C)The composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s remarkable musical talent was apparent even before most children can sing a simple nursery rhyme. Wolfgang’s older sister Maria Anna (who the family called Nannerl) was learning the clavier, an early keyboard instrument, when her three-year-old brother took an interest in playing. As Nannerl later recalled, Wolfgang “often spen t much time at the clavier picking out thirds (三度音), which he was always striking, and his pleasure showed that it sounded good.” Their father Leopold, an assistant concertmaster at the Salzburg Court, recognized his children’s unique gifts and soon devote d himself to their musical education.Born in Salzburg, Austria, on January 27, 1756, Wolfgang had composed his first original work by age five. Leopold planned to take Nannerl and Wolfgang on tour to play beforethe European courts. Their first venture was to nearby Munich where the children played for Maximillian III Joseph, elector of Bavaria. Leopold soon set his sights on the capital of the Hapsburg Empire, Vienna. On their way to Vienna, the family stopped in Linz, where Wolfgang gave his first public concert. By this time, Wolfgang was not only a skilled harpsichord player, but he had also mastered the violin. The audience at Linz was amazed by the six-year-old, and word of his genius soon traveled to Vienna. In a much attended concert, the Mozart children appeared at the Schonbrunn Palace on October 13, 1762. They completely attracted the emperor and empress.Following this success, Leopold received a lot of invitations for the children to play, for a fee. Leopold seized the opportunity and booked as many concerts as possible at courts throughout Europe. A concert could last three hours, and the children played at least two per a day. Today, Leopold might be considered the worst kind of stage parent, but at the time, it was not uncommon for prodigies to make extensive concert tours. Even so, it was an exhausting schedule for a child who was just past the age of needing an afternoon nap.73. A good title for this passage would be ________.A. Kennedydelivered 20 January 1961We observe today not a victory of party, but a celebration of freedom—symbolizing an end, as well as a beginning—signifying renewal, as well as change. For I have sworn before you and Almighty God the same solemn oath our forebears prescribed nearly a century and three-quarters ago.The world is very different now, for man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe–the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans—born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage, and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty. This much we pledge—and more…In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility -- I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it. And the glow from that fire can truly light the world. And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world, ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man. Finally, whether you are citizens of America or citizens of the world, ask of us here the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you. With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God's work must truly be our own.77.What should friends and foes know?A.That the United States is powerful.B.That a new generation of Americans are responsible fortheir government.C.That the United States is governed by liberals.D.That the rights of man come from the hand of God.78.What is Kennedy’s promise to the world?A. To support liberty.B. To abolish all forms ofhuman poverty.C. To visit each country at least once.D. To support anyfriend.79.What should citizens of the world ask of America?A.How America can help them.B.If America plans to invade their country.C.What they can do for freedom.D.What they can do for America.80.Which of the following statement is NOT true according tothe passage?A.Human beings have the power to put an end to all formsof poverty.B.We should remember we are the first revolution.C.Our nation has always been committed to human rights.D. We should assure the survival and the success of liberty. Section CDirections: Read the following text and choose the most suitable heading from A-AB for each paragraph. Learn some Useful Tips on Presentation In order to present the best presentation and eliminate room for error, you need to keep in mind certain guidelines. Here are some of my ideas for presenting quality presentation that demand genuine attention from your listeners.Picking out a topic is the hard part, when it comes to choosing from a list of presentation subjects. It has to be interesting, impactful and unique; therefore it is crucial to choose something you care about rather than randomly selecting one. Ask yourself if it covers angles -is it informative? Will it keep my listeners hooked? Will it create an air of82.81.boredom? Will I be able to get all my facts and research done? Is it appealing to me, but not to them? There's nothing more annoying than having someone blabber on about a topic he/she hasn't done extensive research on. It is obvious from the way they speak, how monotonous their tones sound and how robotic their movement and gestures are. So don't be that someone. Take the effort to learn as much as you can. Make it matter to you, and remember how it can impact your listeners, and enlighten them on things they didn't know about at all.No one is perfect, and there are bound to be mistakes or circumstances that you didn’t count on and couldn’t avoid. You could stutter with a word, mix up slides, or forget some important sheets of your presentation and so on. Straighten up. Crack a minor joke in your defense. In other words improvise and don't beat yourself up about it or else your presentation will end in disaster. Don't let it ruin the rest of it, and finish the presentation as planned, so that people think more of how well it ended. The best thing about presenting a topic is eye contact. If you are able to say it by heart, and not by looking at a piece of paper, you will have mastered the most effective presentation83.84.85.technique. Memorize your lines, and points, and only glance at your notes occasionally if you think you may forget something. In the end, if you think that you are well prepared to answer questions, then by all means invite them.IV. Each word can only be used once. Note thatfrom East Asia tend to have more difficulty than those from Europe in 42 – and a new report published online in Current Biology explains why.Rachael Jack, University of Glasgow researcher, said that rather than scanning evenly (均匀地) across a face as Westerners do, Easterners 43 their attention on the eyes.―We show that Easterners and Westerners look at different face features to read facial expressions,‖ Jack said. ―Westerners look at the eyes and the mouth in equal measure, whereas Easterners fa vor the eyes and 44 the mouth.‖According to Jack and her colleagues, the discovery shows that human 45 of emotion is more complex than previously believed. ―The cultural difference in eye movements that they show is probably a reflection of cultural difference in facial expressions,‖ Jack said. ―Our data suggest that w hereas Westerners use the whole face to convey emotion,Easterners use the eyes more and mouth less.‖In short, the data show that facial expressions are not universal signals of human emotion. From here on, 50 how cultural factors have differed in these basic social skills will help our understanding of human emotion. Otherwise, when it comes to communicating emotions across cultures, Easterners and Westerners will find themselves lost in translation.Ⅲ. The piece of music for bird pairs.(C)The composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s remarkable musical talent was apparent even before most children can sing a simple nursery rhyme. Wolfgang’s older sister Maria Anna (who the family called Nannerl) was learni ng the clavier, an early keyboard instrument, when her three-year-old brother took an interest in playing. As Nannerl later recalled, Wolfgang ―often spent much time at the clavier picking out thirds (三度音), which he was always striking, and his pleasure sh owed that it sounded good.‖ Their father Leopold, an assistant concertmaster at the Salzburg Court, recognized his children’s unique gifts and soon devoted himself to their musical education.Born in Salzburg, Austria, on January 27, 1756, Wolfgang had composed his first original work by age five. Leopold planned to take Nannerl and Wolfgang on tour to play before the European courts. With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God's work must truly be our own.77.What should friends and foes know?A.That the United States is powerful.B.That a new genera tion of Americans are responsible for their government.C.That the United States is governed by liberals.D.That the rights of man come from the hand of God.78.What is Kennedy’s promise t o the world?A. To support liberty.B. To abolish all forms of human poverty.C. To visit each country at least once.D. To support any friend.79. What should citizens of the world ask of America?A. How America can help them.B. If America plans to invade their country.C. What they can do for freedom.D. What they can do for America.80. Which of the following statement is NOT true according to the passage?A. Human beings have the power to put an end to all forms of poverty.B. We should remember we are the first revolution.C.
