保护水资源英语作文5篇篇一:关于保护水资源的英文演讲Hello everyone, I am Chuck. Today, I want to tell you something about water resources.Water is one of the indispensable conditions to human survival. If there nowater, there would be no life existence. Water is like a great gentle mother who gives us life, so we should protect water resources to show how much we love it! Although about three-quarters of the global area is covered with water, only one percent can be used. Lack of freshwater resources is a common problem in the world. One of the reasons is that the global freshwater resources have a uneven distribution. And the other reason is wasting water.China is one of the most water-short countries in the world. It has less than 1/4 of the world average water. By this token,we all can see how important the freshwater resources are for us. According to statistics, there are about two-thirds of the urban cities on a national scale that don’t have enough water to use. In the area of Loess plateau, the water consumption per capita only has about 23 liters. What an appalling number it is!But in our daily life, we can see the scene of wasting water everywhere. We usually see the tap running water but nobody turns it off. And the water pollution in our life is also a common behavior. People always use excess laundry soap to wash clothes, and it always makes pollution.Today the water resources are more and more important. In order to make the last drop of earths water is not our tears, let’s take actions, use our practical action to save water!Saving water means saving our life!Thank you for your attention!篇二:英语作文范文-环境保护Environmental ProtectionToday the quality of our natural environment has become animportant issue. The world population is rising so quickly that the world has become too crowded. We are using up our natural resources and at the same time polluting our environment with dangerous chemicals. If we continue to do this, life on earth cannot survive.Concerned people have made some progress in environmental protection. Governments of many countries have established laws to protect the air, forests and sea resources and to stop environmental pollution.Still more measures should be taken to solve environmental problems. People should be further educated to recognize theimportance of the problems, to use modern methods of birth control, to conserve(保存) our natural resources and recycle(再循环) our products. We are sure that we can have a better and cleaner place in the future.

1Water is very important to us.Without water, people will die.Animals and plant need water, too.But water is becoming less and less.We must do something to save it.For example, turn off the tap,if you don’t it.After washing vegetables,we can use the water to water the plant. Also, don’t wash your hands for a long t ime.Remember not to waster water or pollute it.Save water, save our earth!let’s take action now!爱护水资源的英语作文篇2The world is not only hungry, but also thirsty for water. This may seem strange to you, since nearly 75 % of the earth's surface is covered with water. But about 97% of this huge amount is sea water, or salt water. Man can only drink and use the other 3% -- the fresh water that comes from rivers, lakes, underground , and other sources. And we cannot even use all of that, because some of it is in the form of icebergs and glaciers. Even worse, some of it has been polluted. However, as things stand today, this small amount of fresh water, which is constantly being replaced by rainfall, is still enough for us. But our need for water is increasing rapidly-- almost day by day. Only if we take steps to deal with this problem now can we avoid a severe worldwide water shortage later on. A limited water supply would have a bad effect on agriculture andindustry. Let me give you just one small exampie of how necessary water is to industry. Did you know that to produce a single ton of steel, it takes about 91, 000 liters of water? We all have to learn how to stop wasting our precious water. One of the first steps we should take is to develop ways of reusing it. Experiments have already been done in this field, but only on a small scale. For us, the systems are as important as the spacecraft.爱护水资源的英语作文篇3Tree are very important in our life. They are the biggest and oldest living things on earth. Many things comes from trees ,for example ,the wood in your pencil and the paper in your notebook.Tree can fight pollution ,they can cool and clean the air.Tree can also communicate with one another to protect themselves from insects. But now trees are in great danger.People cut down and burn them every year.Trees are our friends.Let’s try our best to plant more trees and protect them.爱护水资源的英语作文篇4Water is very important for our life. Every day we use water to drink, too cook and to wash. Water is necessary for all plants. They need water to grow. People can’t live without water.Plants will die without water. It is important to all living things. However, many people pollute lakes and rivers with waste water, so we must stop some people or some factories from wasting water or polluting water and help keep the water clean. At the same time we should save as much water as possible.

How to Solve the Global Water ShortageWater is one of the most important things for life on Earth. We need water to drink, to grow food, for brushing our teeth, washing our clothes and bodies, and lots of other things. Unfortunately, many places in the world don't have enough clean water for everyone. This is called a water shortage. I'll explain why there are water shortages happening and what we can do to help solve this big problem. There are a few main reasons why some parts of the world face water shortages. One reason is droughts, which are long periods of very little rainfall. Droughts can be caused by changes in weather patterns due to climate change. They make rivers, lakes and underground water sources dry up. Another reason is overuse of water sources like rivers, lakes and underground aquifers. As the world's population grows, more and more people need water for their homes, farms and businesses. If too much water is taken out faster than it can be replenished by rainfall, shortages happen.Pollution is another huge cause of water scarcity. Factories, farms, sewers and other sources release dirty water andchemicals into rivers, lakes and oceans. This pollutes and contaminates fresh water sources, making them unsafe for humans and animals to use. Water pollution is a very serious problem because polluted water can make people and animals really sick. Plastic pollution in the oceans is also a big issue because it harms sea life.So what can we do to help solve this global water crisis? Well, there are actually lots of things we can do, even as kids! One of the most important things is to conserve water and use it wisely. This means trying not to waste water. We can take shorter showers instead of baths, turn off the tap while brushing our teeth, and only run the dishwasher and washing machine when they're full. Our parents can fix leaky faucets and pipes too.At school, we can learn about the water cycle and why water is so precious. We can also do projects and activities to raise awareness about water pollution and shortages. For example, we could organize a beach or park cleanup to remove litter. Or we could make posters and videos teaching people how to properly dispose of chemicals and not pollute waterways.Governments and communities also need to take action against water scarcity. They should invest in better water treatment facilities to clean and recycle waste water so it can beused again. Building dams, reservoirs and wells can also increase water storage. Plus, we need tougher laws against polluting rivers, lakes and oceans. Protecting wetlands and planting trees near water sources helps too by filtering out pollutants.New technologies like drip irrigation, desalination plants and fog catchers can also provide more clean water, especially in dry areas. Drip irrigation systems deliver water straight to the roots of plants instead of spraying it all over. Desalination removes salt from seawater to make it drinkable. And fog catchers are huge nets that capture moisture from fog and condense it into fresh water. These inventions help increase water supply without polluting.Another part of the solution is agriculture reform. A lot of the world's fresh water gets used for irrigating crops. More efficient methods like drip systems can reduce water waste. Farmers can also grow crops that don't require as much water. Avoiding food waste is key too, since lots of water gets wasted when we throw out food.On an individual level, each of us can make a difference too by changing our habits and mindsets about water. We should learn to value water and not take it for granted. Turn off taps tightly, fix leaks, filter and re-use water when possible. Drink tapwater instead of bottled water to reduce plastic waste. And eat less meat and dairy, since producing them takes way more water than growing fruits and veggies.Working together as a global community is our best solution to the water crisis. Countries need to cooperate and share technologies to increase freshwater access. Companies must take responsibility for water pollution from their factories and activities. Charities can raise money and awareness. And each person, including us kids, can do our part to conserve water every day.The water shortage problem might seem really big and scary. But if we all make an effort, even small changes will add up and help a lot! We have to take care of our most precious resource –water – so every person on Earth has enough safe water to survive and thrive. With smart thinking, teamwork and determination, we can absolutely solve the global water crisis!。

六级作文Water shortage

六级作文Water shortage

Water shortage: causes and solutionsThe development of human society depends much on a great variety of natural resources, and water is one of them. As is well known, water resource plays a vital role performs a significant function in our professional and daily life. However this resource has been being wasted or polluted in recent years due to industrial development and the explosion of population, which presents/poses a serious problem to us—water shortage. In the light of/given the immeasurable value of water, this short essay will conduct a thorough analysis of the reasons for this problem and then present several possible means to deal with/handle it.As mentioned above, industrial production is one of the major causes for the problem of water shortage. This standpoint can be viewed from two perspectives. First, industrial production cannot avoid the use of much water, which can be proved by making a simple tour to many traditional factories or plants. Second, industrial activities have resulted in the waste of water and/or the pollution of large areas of water. This problem derives from the low development level of modern technology or from many people’s unconsciousness or weak consciousness of environmental protection. The vast increase of our population constitutes another main reason for the shortage of water resource. In the past, the amount of water per capita was much higher than the current figure because of the smaller population then. The development of medical science and the production of much material wealth have both boosted the enhancement of birth rate and survival ratio, and the prolonging of human life expectancy. However, people have to eat, drink, wash their hands, and to conduct other life activities. All of them are related to the consumption of water. Meanwhile, human activities have also caused the deterioration of our natural environment, such as deforestation, an unwise practice which results in the disappearance of water reserve media.Drawing on the above discussions, it can be seen quite clearly that the increase of human population and all their productive activities have contributed to the lessening of water resources on this planet. To solve this problem or to compromise the tension between human race and the nature, education is likely to play such a role, as by means of education, people can enhance their awareness of environmental protection, and make innovation of their current productive technology to improve the rate of water usage. In the meantime, governments should enact some effective laws on the use of water, and if possible, birth control policy in some areas is a necessity.Topic:Nowadays, more and more children are becoming obese. Give possible reasons and suggestions on how to deal with this problem.Whereas some children in poor countries are vastly underweight on account of poverty, others elsewhere in the world are suffering from another problem—obesity, resulting from improved living conditions. A recent study has shown the latter problem is becoming an epidemic, as the number of obese children in the developed world keeps rising alarmingly. In this short essay, we will first explore the reasons for this problem and then present several possible solutions to it.In some cases, there is a genetic reason for obesity. It has been found that children’s weight is related to that of their parents. A child of obese parents is more likely to become overweight, for he may inherit from his father or mother some of the genes that control body weight. Is genetic reason the only explanation? Other factors are also at work, and among them is imbalanced diet. Afraid that their children may not get enough to eat and consequently suffer from poor health, some parents are too permissive, allowing them to eat too much, with as many as five or six meals a day. Besides, the increasing popularity of fast food and sweets make the matter even worse. It is not merely a question of what young people eat, but also a matter of lifestyle. TV and internet have produced sedentary lifestyle. Children who watch TV programs passively or who stay online for hours every day simply do not get enough physical exercises. Furthermore, a growing number of pre-teenagers have come to rely on public transport or lifts from their parents, rather than instead of walking or riding bicycles. Lack of physical activities gradually contributes to overweight.Obesity may have serious side effects, particularly in the form of such diseases as heart problems or diabetes in children’s later lives. Solutions to this problem may vary according to root causes. Those whose obesity is gene-related should consult doctors. For others, a better lifestyle, more exercises and a proper diet consisting of more vegetables and fruit and less fat food may be helpful.Teachers in Face of High TechnologyIn the past, schools were the main channels to transmit and circulate knowledge and information whereas now high technology, such as internet, has almost replaced schools as information sources. Mass media of this category have created a hyperreal atmosphere where man can not find his identity and where reason is further undermined by the dominant class. Once, most of the struggles and fights between or among different social groups were for equality and democracy. However, at present, the number and the extent of social conflicts are becoming smaller and less intense. The fundamental reason for this social phenomenon derives from the hyperrality createdby hi-tech mass media manipulated by dominant social groups for the sake of their own benefits. This condition poses great challenge to school teachers as the objective of education should be for social emancipation.Perhaps what teachers need to do first and foremost is to help learners see what lies behind the high information technology. On the one hand, this high technology provides more accesses than ever before to information and knowledge, and let them see the world from a great variety of perspectives. On the other hand, it obscures people’s visions of the reality of the world. Who to believe and what information to accept becomes a dilemma for the general masses. For example, about the present war with Iraq, every day we can get many contradictory war reports from TVs, radios or internets. Whether the war represents justice on the American side is still at odd. Another negative effect of modern information technology is that it isolates human beings from each other. People usually spend much of their daily lives on the TV screens, in front of computers or immersing themselves in the so-called soap operas. What lurks behind the modern information technology is the power usurped by corporations for the material profits and manipulated by the ruling class to anaesthetize the dominated and therefore to maintain the existing social order. Still take the war with Iraq as one example. Audiences can see the seemingly correct logics advocated by both sides. Moreover, TV programs or films can not be broadcasted or shown unless they are in accordance with the benefits of governments of the countries where they are to be licensed for circulation. All these conditions will require teachers, especially critical-minded teachers to address the concentration of power and information technology. To critically analyze this relationship, teachers should lead students out of the vertigo fomented by modern technology and help them see the nature of oppression maintained by the mass media. Concurrently, students are also encouraged to absorb the rich nourishments of them. We must see that not all the content transmitted by mass media is of political nature. For instance, in the field of ESL study, computers programmers have developed numerous soft wares. The appropriate use of them could reduce the arduous work which is supposed to be performed by teachers and in the meanwhile instigate students’ initiatives in study. Sometimes mass media would communicate positive ideologies. If a film were made on the life experiences of Ronnie and Brandon, maybe all teachers and students should see it because via this film, they could understand the cooperation of the hegemonic ideology prevalent in their schools, communities or even the entire society.Modern mass media have created a new culture, be it positive or negative. Teachers under the postmodernist paradigm must acknowledge it before approaching it critically. Probably, the best suggestion for teachers is to look at it judiciously. Then they can help students become disenchanted or wake up in the insidious hyperrality created and intensified by the modern information technology. Only in this manner can the sense of justice and democracy be cultivated or nurtured on the part of the next generation.。

Water shortage

Water shortage

Water shortage王一苇(yvonne)11120661 No one can have failed to notice the fact that water shortage is a serious problem with which the whole world is confronted. But you don’t worry about it because you could rather easily walk to a conveniently-located bathroom and turn the faucet to grab a drink of cool, clean water.Yet to peaple in ar eas of the world where there is a water crisis, the reality is different. Therefore, it’s high time for us to find effective ways to solve the problem.Individual water usage is rising dramatically as people living in the developed countries become increasingly prosperous. As well as increased consumption for each person, the growing demand for fresh water is due to a bigger global population than in the past. The only way to control this increase in demand is to charge high prices for water while also promoting conservation measures. Improvements in irrigation systems and industrial processes could dramatically increase the efficiency of water use. There are examples of industries in some rich countries that have reduced their consumption rate through price increases, the application of modern technology and recycling. But in agicultural and domestic aspects, the price of water is still subsidized so it is not regarded as goods that people need to pay a realistic price for.Other ways of protecting supplies are to reduce water loss resulting from leaks in the supply systems and to find ways of using used water. Longer term measures, such as improved environmental management would protect the ecosystem and ensure the refill of ground water for future generations. Without such measures, future supplies are uncertain, especially when global warming is expected to affect rainfall patterns and to worsen the water shortage already suffered by many countries today. There is no guarantee that you will one day be experiencing a water crisis ...but can you be 100% certain? So, let’s join in these moves and be a part of the fighters aginst water shortage.。

On Water Shortage
As we all know, water which is the origin of life is indispensable. However, this resource is reducing promptly, which may threaten our existence on the earth. And this problem has gained more and more attention in public.
With the phenomenon of water shortage, many reasons account for it. Among these, water pollution which is given rise by the factories is the most crucial fact. To some extent, the increasing of the number of population aggravates this phenomenon. In addition, the waste of water resource both in our life and practice deeply sharpen the shortage of water.
As far as I'm concerned, both the government and the public should try their best to improve this problem. On the one hand, the government should take serious measures to punish the factories which pollute the water and add investment to deal with the polluted water. In another hand, the citizen should save the water around our life and take full use of it to preserve the precious resource. Only in this way, can we effectively protect the water and keep up with the permanent development.。
