We realized that although we look different now, we were all once little children too.Unit 2 was about describing people's appearances and personalities. We learned adjectives like "tall," "short," "kind," "funny," and so on. My best friend Lily has long, curly hair and a big smile. She's also really patient and always helps me with my homework. I described her that way in class, and she did the same for me.We had to draw self-portraits and write a few sentences about our own looks and personalities. I drew myself with glasses (because I need them for reading) and two braids. For my personality, I wrote that I'm curious, love reading storybooks, and sometimes feel a little shy. Our teacherput all ourself-portraits on the classroom wall, and it looked so colorful!Another fun activity was playing "Guess Who?" One person would describe a celebrity or cartoon character, and we had to try and guess who it was based on the clues. Some were really hard, but it helped us practice using descriptive words.We also learned about using "has" and "have" to talk about appearances. Like, "She has long hair" or "They have big eyes." Itwas confusing at first, but we did lots of practice exercising using those phrases.One of the hardest parts was learning to use "is" and "are" properly when describing personalities. Like, "He is friendly" but "They are nice." Those little grammar rules take time to get used to. Our teacher made us do written exercises and oral practice to help us master it.Overall, Units 1 and 2 were packed with fun, games, and new vocabulary. I feel like I've learned so much already!
