的道理查理出身于一个十分贫穷的家庭，在他家旁边的大城市里，有一个巧克力工厂，工厂常年大门紧锁。
有一天，巧克力工厂的创建人旺卡先生神秘的说：我有五张金奖券分别被包裹在五块巧克力里面，谁找到就可以免费参观巧克力工厂。
生日的那天早上，查理得到了全家省吃俭用为他买得唯一一块巧克力也没有中奖。
四个纨绔子弟在家长的倾力帮助下获得了参观的机会。
小查理也很想要得到去参观巧克力工厂的机会。
父母在他的生日那天给他买了一块巧克力，但是很不幸，他没有中奖。
家里已经没有多余的钱再去给小查理买巧克力了。
但在一天下午，查理捡到了50便士，便去小店买了两块巧克力，其中一块就中奖了，全家人十分兴奋。
信上说：中奖的人可以带自己的家属去参观巧克力工厂，并将得到一卡车的巧克力，吃完后，随时可以再来领取巧克力。
于是，他的爷爷带他去参观巧克力工厂。
在参观的过程中，四个好吃懒惰的小朋友由于贪玩、不遵守纪律，受到了惩罚，胖男孩因为在偷喝巧克力河中的热巧克力时，不慎掉入河里而被停止参观，另外两个小女孩，一个是偷吃超级口香糖，还有一个是想要巧克力工厂里的松鼠，都被停止参观，最后一个小男孩看见旺卡先生能将电视里的巧克力变出来，便请求旺卡先生将他变进电视里的枪战中，而被停止参观，只有查理很老实的跟旺卡先生参观完全厂。
由于他的诚实、自律和一颗爱心深深的打动和感染了旺卡先生，最终被选为巧克力工厂的接班人。
读完后，我感慨万分，为什么旺卡会把巧克力工厂送给查理呢?在我看来，这和家庭的教育有关，四个好吃懒惰的小朋友都是富人家的孩子，十分受到家人的宠爱，都已经被宠坏了，他们过着衣来伸手饭来张口的生活，好逸恶劳，得过且过，都已经失去理智了。
