Actually, we sell nothing but the best.Q: What does the man mean?2.M: Have you had a busy day at the office?W: Yes, sorry I’m late. I worked overtime today because my boss asked me to prepare a more detailed advertising proposal and then pitched it to the higher-ups tomorrow morning.Q: Why was the man late home?3.M: Your red skirt is q uite beautiful, isn’t it?W: Yes. I bought it at a sale for half price because I saw it in the advertising magazines. It only cost me$18.Q: How much should the skirt have cost?4.M: When does the ad campaign start?W: Don’t worry. It doesn't start until 10:00. We've still got 20 minutes.Q: What's the time now?5.W: Did you remember to bring the trade advertising magazine you promised me yesterday?M: Sorry, it completely slipped my mind. I'll bring it tomorrow.Q: Why did the man apologize to the woman?6.M: The typewriter you bought yesterday is good.W: Good? It is the best I've ever seen and it’s also one of the promotional items this month. Q: What does the woman mean?7.W: Mary earned a lot of money over the summer as a consultant for that ad agency.M: I don’t doubt it. What surprises me is that she is still working there, now that classes have started again.Q: What does the man say about Marry?8.M: Have you finished with your full-page ads for two large trade companies?W: Finally, I’ve done n othing else this whole week but type it.Q: What does the woman say about her task?Task 2 Long ConversationsConversation OneM: Advertising has become a very specialized activity in modern times. In the businessworld of today, supply is usually greater than demand.W: Yes. There is great competition between different manufacturers of the same kind of product to persuade customers to buy their own particular brand.M: And manufacturers always have to remind the consumer of the name and the qualities of their product.W: So they do this by advertising. The manufacturers advertise their products in the newspapers and on posters.M: Certainly, they sometimes pay for songs about their products in commercial radio programs and employ attractive salesgirls to distribute samples.W: And most important of all, in countries that have television they have advertisements put into programs that will accept them.M: That’s the reason why manufacturers often spend large sums of money on advertisements.W: That’s it. We b uy a particular product because we think that it is the best. We usually think so because of the advertisements that say so.M: So, some people never pause to ask themselves if the advertisements are telling the truth.W: That’s true.Q1: What should manufacturers be ready to do when competition is so great today?Q2: Which one of the following statements is not true?Q3: Which of the following is not the way the manufacturersput advertisements?Q4: Why do people buy a particular product according to the passage?Conversation TwoM: Well, Susan, I guess that’s for today’s discussion on advertising as an important aspect of marketing.W: Then, Mr. Smith. What will we learn next week?M: Next week, I’d like to move away from marketing and into distribution, that is, the chain of movement of goods from their sources, often factories to their final destinations-us, the consumers.W: Oh, that’s very important.M: Yes. And you’ll need to read Chapter 5 in your text. Make sure you read it carefully. W: It’s a hard job. I guess I'll be busy this week.M: We may have a short quiz on it at the beginning of our next class.W: Then I will review it after class.M: Good. As you are reading Chapter 5, pay careful attention to the differences and similarities between wholesalers and retailers. They are the most important middlemen in the chain of distribution of goods and services, and it’s crucial for you to understand the roles they play in getting goods from factories to consumers.W: Yeah!M: Oh, and one last thing. Give me your homework and I’ll take a look at it this week and get it back to you at our next class.W: Here you are!Q1: Who was the man?Q2: What was the topic of today’s discussion?Q3: According to the speaker, what is distribution?Q4: What might happen at the beginning of the next class?Task 3 PassagesPassage OneAdvertising is the most visible activity of business. What a company may have been doing privately for many years suddenly becomes public the moment it starts to advertise. By publicly inviting people to try their products, companies invite public criticism and attack if their products do not live up to the promised benefits. Defenders of advertising say it is therefore safer to buy advertised than unadvertised products. By putting their names behind the goods, the makers of advertised articles stick their necks out and will try harder to fulfill their promises.Because advertising is so public, it is widely criticized, not only for the role it plays in selling products but also for the way it influences our society. As a selling tool, advertising is attacked for its excesses. Some critics charge that, as its worst, advertising is downright untruthful and, at best, it presents only positive information about products. Others charge that advertising manipulates people psychologically to buy things they can’t afford by promising improved social status or other unrealistic expectations. Still others attack advertising for being offensive or in bad taste. Many argue that there is just too much advertising and that this overwhelming quantity is one reason it has such an impact on our society. According to the advertising critics, we are awash in a sea of commercials that make life less pleasant than it might otherwise be.Perhaps the greatest attack on advertising has been and continues to be against the deceptive practices of some advertisers. Critics define deceptiveness not only as false andmisleading statements but also as any false impression conveyed, whether intentional or unintentional. Advertising must have the confidence of consumers if it is to be effective. Continued deception is self-defeating because, in time, it causes consumers to turn against a product.Q1: What should a company be ready to do when it starts advertising its products?Q2: Why do supporters of advertising say it is safer to buy advertised products?Q3:How are people psychologically misguided by advertising?Q4: How may people feel living in a sea of commercials?Q5: How is the deceptiveness of advertising defined by critics?Passage TwoIt’s just amazing how many of our ideas come from advertisements on TV, advertisement in magazines, and on the radio. It’s a little bit frightening too, because our ideas about how we are supposed to live and that kind of clothing that we are supposed to wear and the way that we are supposed to look, and these things, come from advertising. Television commercials tell us that if we don't use the right soap, shampoo, toothpaste and then hair spray, our friends won't go out with us, and unfortunately, a lot of people begin to believe this, and of course it’s not true. Markets have to be created, but I think that there has to be a little bit of a compromise in just how much pressure is put on the public. I have a friend, Karen, who recently graduated from college with a degree in television work. Karen is very excited about her work. It’s very interesting. She feels most excited when she has an idea that can be used and she thinks it will convince people to buy a certain product. And Karen seemsto have very little idea about responsibility as to the quality of the product that she is trying to sell. I wonder if this is typical. Maybe it isn’t really, but if it is, it’s a little bit disturbing.Q1: Which of the following is not mentioned as a form of advertising?Q2: What are people’s attitudes toward television commercials?Q3:What does Karen do after graduating from college?Q4: How does Karen feel about her work?Q5: What conclusion can you draw from the passage?Passage ThreeAdvertising has existed in various forms for many, many years. In previous centuries in England, for example, companies would seek to become the supplier of the king or the queen. In so doing, they could obtain a special mark or seal that gave their product added prestige and visibility. In North America, at the opposite end of the social scale, men would often travel with circuses to promote various healing substances such as cough medicines. Newspapers in the nineteenth century contained all sorts of ads. In fact, advertising gradually became important source of income for newspapers. A similar phenomenon occurred with radio and then later, with television.Over the years, advertisers have used many different ways of capturing the attention of the reader, the listener or the viewer. Clever musical tunes, humorous slogans, shocking images, famous people and well-known works of art have all been used to communicate the message about a particular product. Beautiful, energetic young people are used to sell everything from beer to toothpaste. Famous athletes and movie stars provide endorsements for any number of products ranging fromsports shoes to telephone companies. Funny, cartoon-like characters are used to attract the attention of children so they will ask their parents to buy a particular food, toy or game. McDonald’s, for example, is perha ps the first company in the world to have designed a restaurant and a marketing campaign aimed at children .Part III Further ListeningTask 1 NewsIf you were to picture the sort of person who might take the lead in gathering radiation data from the Fukushima nuclear accident, Marcelino Alvarez probably wouldn’t come to mind. “My background is actually not in physics or nuclear physics or science or radiation data,” he says. “It’s actually in advertising, so, building websites and doing product development.”But Alvarez also follows what’s happening in the world. During the early days of the Fukushima crisis, he watched the news coverage nonstop. And he was surprised that even the experts were having a hard time finding accurate up-to-date information. So I said, “There’s got to be a better way.” And I drew a really crude sketch and I sent it to our creative director, and I said, “What do you think abo ut this? What if we made a site that just invited people to contribute their own data?” And so we designed it and, two days after that, basically launched the first version of the site.Task 2SpeechThe World Health Organization says recent studies prove the more young people are exposed to tobacco advertising, the more likely they are to start smoking and the less likely they are to quit. Despite this, WHO officials say only five percent of the world’s population is covered by comprehensive bans ontobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship. The Director of WHO’s Tobacco Free Initiative, Dr. Douglas Bettcher, says that leaves 95 percent of the world’s population exposed to the unbridled marketing activities of the tobacco industry. “The tobacco industry continues to spread its deadly product as the vector of the tobacco epidemic,” he said. “The tobacco company spends tens of billions of dollars to market its products and tens of billions of dollars a year around the world to particularly develop and study and market to young people, especially in developing countries.”Dr. Bettcher says the tobacco industry markets its product in movies, on the Internet, in fashion magazines, music concerts and sports events to get young people hooked onto their product. He says the industry has even converted young people into walking billboards. Wherever tobacco companies cannot advertise, he says they put their logo on boots, shirts and other personal items. He says young women and girls are particularly at risk of being targeted and ensnared by these aggressive marketing techniques.Part IV Speaking OutTask 1 Listen, Fill and ActM: As a social influence, advertising is often charged.W: Yes, on the one hand, with contributing to crime and violence and, on the other hand, with making people conform.M: Nowadays critics attack advertising for keeping stereotypes of people.W: Yes, it also makes people want things they don’t need and can't afford.M: I agree with it badly. It encourages people to buy more automobiles, more clothing, and more appliances than they need.W: Have you heard the news that millions of Americans own 20 or more pairs of shoes, several TV sets, and often more than one vehicle.M: That’s right. Advertising makes us too materialistic. And are you often influenced by it? W: Sometimes.Part V Fun TimeForcing a smile as I blink the tearsaway,Wondering how I am going to getthrough the day.Laughing away my sadness, bandagingmy heart,There’s no happiness for me whenwe’re apart.Chocking on my lonelinessconfused at what to do,My life’s a total wreck when I’m notwith you.I hate to admit it you’re everything tome,Unfortunately you’re just too stubbornto see.Sometimes goodbyes really are forever,Meaning never again will we betogether.。

On the other hand, they have brought hazards, especially highway fatalities. However, today the application of computer technology and electronic sensors in designing and manufacturing cars makes it possible to eliminate most of traffic accidents. For example, electronic sensors mounted in your car can detect alcohol vapor in the air and refuse to start up the engine. They can also monitor road conditions by receiving radio signals sent out from orbiting satellites and greatly reduce your chances of getting stuck in traffic jams.。

As is often the case, the 31 between these two classes is not sharp and clear. A pond is an example of standing water. But most ponds are fed by 32 or brooks and most have an outlet. Thus some 33 of changing water flows through them. On the other hand, a river is an exampleof 34 water. In some places, however, a river may have such a slow current that it is very difficult to detect.Standing inland waters differ in size, in age, and in many abiotic 35 characteristics. They range in size from roadside puddles to the Caspian Sea. Puddles may last for only a few days or weeks; ponds, for a few hundred to a thousand years. Each passage is followed by some questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices. Click on the best choice.Insurance is the sharing of risks. Nearly everyone is exposed to risk of some sort. The house-owner, for example, knows that his property can be damaged by fire; the ship-owner knows that his vessel may be lost at sea; the breadwinner knows that he may die at an early age and leave his family the poorer. On the other hand, not every house is damaged by fire nor every vessel lost at sea. If these persons each put a small sum into a pool, there will be enough to meet the needs of the few who do suffer losses. In other words, the losses of the few are met from the contribution of the many. This is the basis of insurance. Those who pay the contribution are known as "insured" and those whoadminister the pool of contributions as "insurers."Not all risks lend themselves to being covered by insurance. Broadly speaking, the ordinary risks of business andspeculation cannot be covered. The risk that buyers will not buy goods at the prices offered is not of a kind that can be statistically estimated -- and risks can only be insured against if they can be so estimated. The legal basis of all insurance is the "policy." This is the printed form of contract on paper of the best quality. It states that in return for the regular payment by the insured of a named sum of money, called the "premium," which is usually paid every year, the insurer will pay a sum of money or compensation for loss, if the risk or event insured against actually happens. The wording of policies, particularly in marine insurance, often seems very old-fashioned, but there is a sound reason for this. Over a large number of years many law cases have been brought to clear up the meaning of doubtful phrases in policies. The law courts, in their judgments, have given these phrases a definite and indisputable meaning, and to avoid future disputes the phrases have continued to be used in policies even when they have passed out of normal use in speech.41.The best title for this passage is __________.A. Premium (1)B. The Insured (2)C. Insurance (26)D. Policy (1)参考答案:Insurance 答题人数 :38正确 / 错误 : 26 / 12 正确率 : 68%42. The early trains were impractical curiosities, and for a long time the railroad companies met with troublesome mechanical problems. The most serious ones were the construction of rails able to bear the load, and the development of a safe, effective stopping system. Once these were solved, the railroad was established as the best means of land transportation. By 1860 there were thousands of miles of railroads crossing the eastern mountain ranges and reaching westward to the Mississippi. There were also regional southern and western lines. The high point in railroad building came with theconstruction of the first transcontinental system. In 1862 Congress authorized two western railroad companies to build lines from Nebraska westward and from California eastward to a meeting point, so as to complete a transcontinental crossing linking the Atlantic seaboard with the Pacific. The Government helped the railroads generously with money and land. Actual work on this project began four years later. The Central Pacific Company, starting from California, used Chinese labor, while the Union Pacific employed crews of Irish laborers. The two groups worked at remarkable speed, each trying to cover a greater distance than the other. In 1869 they met at a place called Promontory in what is now the state of Utah. Many visitors came there for the great occasion. There were joyous celebrations all over the country, with parades and the ringing of church bells to honor the great achievement. The railroad was very important in encouraging westward movement. It also helped build up industry and farming by moving raw materials and by distributing products rapidly to distant markets. Inlinking towns and people to one another it helped unify the United States.46. The major problems with America's railroad system in the mid-19thcentury lay in ___________.A. poor quality rails and unreliable stopping systems (22)B. lack of financial support for development (0)C. limited railroad lines (2)D. lack of a transcontinental railroad (3)参考答案:poor quality rails and unreliable stopping systems答题人数 :38正确 / 错误 : 22 / 16正确率 : 57%47. American farmers manage to feed not only the total population of the UnitedStates, but also millions of other people throughout the rest of the world. Corn and soybean exports alone account for approximately 75 percent of the amount sold in world markets. This productivity, however, has its price. Intensive cultivation exposes the earth to the damaging forces of nature. Every year wind and water remove tons of rich soil from the nation's croplands. Each field is covered by a limited amount of topsoil, the upper layer of earth which is richest in the nutrients and minerals necessary for growing crops. Ever since the first farmers arrived in the Midwest almost 200 years ago, cultivation and, consequently, erosion have been decreasing the supply of topsoil. In the 1830s, nearly two feet of rich, black topsoil covered the Midwest. Today the average depth is only eight inches, and every decade another inch is blown or washed away. This erosion is steadily decreasing the productivity of valuable cropland. A United States Agricultural Department survey states that if erosion continues at its present rate, corn and soybean yields in the Midwest may drop as much as 30 percent over the next 50 years. So far, farmers have been able to compensate for the loss of fertile topsoil by applying more chemical fertilizers to their fields; however, while this practice has increased crop yields, it has been devastating for ecology. Agriculture has become one of the biggest polluters of the nation's precious water supply. Rivers, lakes, and underground reserves of water are being filled in and poisoned by soil and chemicals carried by drainage from eroding fields. Furthermore, fertilizers only replenish the soil; they do not prevent its loss.51. Which of the following information supports the idea of the firstparagraph?A. American farmers manage to feed 75 percent of the totalpopulation of the U.S. (3)B. The U.S. farming holds its leading position in the world'sagriculture. But do you know that in 1973, the annual sales of GM were actually greater than the combined GNP (=Gross National Product) of Switzerland, Pakistan and South Africa? Yes, corporations such as GM, IBM, and ITT (国际电话电报公司) are extremely powerful. In fact the combined physical assets of all global corporations were estimated at more than $200 billion. And that was more than twenty years ago. Today their power has greatly increased, and is still growing. So much so that some observers believe that by the end of the first decade of the 21st century, the 300 largest corporations will account for more than half of the world's industrial production. The most commonly used term for this type of transnational organization is "multinational corporation." It does not mean that they are all transnational in personnel. The top level of management usually comes mainly from one country. In most cases, the country is clearly identifiable as the home country. GM for example, is based in the United States. So are the others mentioned above. What makes them multinational is the scope of their operations. They manufacture and sell their products where it is most profitable, by passing the formal boundaries of states as much as they can and dealing with the governments of statesas little as they can.Being "multinational," they have little loyalty toward any one country. When their interests conflict with the political interests of a country, they will always put their business interests first. To them, political boundaries are irrelevant to the business of selling automobiles or Coca Cola. The chair of Dow Chemical Company once expressed the wish that he could buy an island owned by no nation, on which to establish his World Headquarters so that the corporation could be truly on neutral ground.56. From the first paragraph of this passage, we learn that____________.A. the annual sales of GM were more than $200 billion (1)B. the combined physical assets of all global corporations wereactually equal to the combined GNP of three countries (5)C. the 300 largest corporations is sure to take up more thanhalf of the world's industrial production by the endof 2010 (13)D. the combined GNP of Switzerland, Pakistan and South Africawere less than $200 billion in 1973 (16)参考答案:the combined GNP of Switzerland, Pakistan and South Africa were less than $200 billion in 1973答题人数 :46正确 / 错误 : 16 / 30正确率 : 34%57. In fact, it has become a necessary and important part of the American way of life. By giving workers rapid transportation, the automobile has freed them from having to live near their place of work. This has encouraged the growth of the cities, but it has also led to traffic problems. For farm families the automobile is very helpful. It has made it possible for them to travel to town very often for business and for pleasure, and also to transport their children to distant schools.Family life has been affected in various ways. The car helps to keep families together when it is used for picnics, outings, and other shared experiences. However, when teenage children have the use of the car, their parents can’t keep an eye on them. There is a great danger if the driver has been drinking alcohol or taking drugs, or showing off by speeding or breaking down traffic laws. Mothers of victims of such accidents have formed an organization called MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). These women want to prevent further tragedies. They have worked to encourage the government to limit the youngest drinking age. Each passage is followed by some questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A), B), C) and D). You should decide on the best choice.Passage OneQuestions 31 to 35 are based on the following passage.Speeding off in a stolen car, the thief thinks he has got a great catch. But he is in for an unwelcome surprise. The car is fitted with a remote immobilizer (锁止器), and a radio signal from a control centre miles away will ensure that once the thief switches the engine off, he will not be able to start it again. For now, such devices are only available for fleets of trucks and specialist vehicles used on construction sites. But remote immobilization technology could soon start to trickle down to ordinary cars, and should be available in the UK in two months. The idea goes like this. A control box fitted to the car contains a mini-cellphone, a micro-processor and memory, and a GPS satellite positioning receiver. If the car is stolen, a coded cellphone signal will te ll the control centre to block the vehicle’s engine management system and prevent the engine being restarted. In the UK, a set of technical fixes is already making life harder for car thieves. “The pattern of vehicle crime has changed,” says Ma rtyn Randall, a security expert. He says it would only take him a few minutes to teach a person how to steal a car, using a bare minimum of tools. But only if the car is more than 10 years old.Modern cars are far tougher to steal, as their engine management computer won’t allow them to start unless they receive a unique ID code beamed out by the ignition (点火) key. In the UK, technologies like this have helped achieve a 31% drop in vehicle-related crime since 1997.But determined criminals are still managing to find other ways to steal cars, often by getting bold of the owner’s keys. And key theft is responsible for 40% of the thefts of vehicles fitted with a tracking system. If the car travels 100 meters without the driver confirming their ID, the system will send a signal to an operations centre that it has been stolen. The hundred meters minimum avoids false alarms due to inaccuracies in the GPS signal.Staff at the centre will then contact the owner to confirm that the car really is missing, and keep police informed of the vehicle’s movements via the car’s GPS unit.31.What’s the function of the remote immobilizer fitted to a car?A) To help the police make a surprise attack on the car thief.B) To allow the car to lock automatically when stolen.C) To prevent the car thief from restarting it once it stops.D) To prevent car theft by sending a radio signal to the car owner.正确答案:C32.By saying “The pattern of vehicle crime has changed” (Lines 1-2. Para. 4), Martyn Randall suggests that ________.A) it takes a longer time for the car thief to do the stealingB) self-prepared tools are no longer enough for car theftC) the thief has to make use of computer technologyD) the thief has lost interest in stealing cars over 10 years old正确答案:B33._______________ is essential in making a modem car tougher to steal.A) A coded ignition keyB) A unique ID cardC) A special cellphone signalD) A GPS satellite positioning receiver正确答案:A34.Why does the tracking system set a 100-metre minimum before sending an alarm to the operations centre?A) To leave time for the operations centre to give an alarm.B) To keep police informed of the car’s movements.C) To give the driver time to contact the operations centre.D) To allow for possible errors in the GPS system.正确答案:D35.What will the operations centre do first after receiving an alarm?A) Start the tracking system.B) Contact the car owner.C) Block the car engine.D) Locate the missing car.正确答案:BPassage TwoQuestions 36 to 40 are based on the following passage.According to some individuals, if your house is built in the right position, this may affect your success in life, which seems strange to many people. However, to believers in Feng-Shui, or the art of geomancy, not only the position but also the choice of decorations and even the color of your home can mean the difference between good fortune and disaster. This art has been practiced for centuries in China and is still used all over South East Asia. Even the huge Hong Kong banks call in a geomant if they are planning to build new offices.Like many Oriental beliefs the geomant’s skill depends on the idea of harmony in nature. If there is no imbalance between the opposing forces of Yin and Yang, the building will bring luck to its inhabitants. This means that the house must be built on the right spot as well as facing the right direction, and also be painted an auspicious color. For instance, if there are mountains to the north, this will protect them from evil influences. If the house is painted red, this will bring happiness to the occupants while green symbolizes youth and will bring long life. The geomant believes that unless all these are considered when choosing a site for construction, the fortune of the people using it will be at risk.Indeed, to ignore the geomant’s advice can have fatal results. The death of the internationally famous Kung-Fu star, Bruce Lee, has been used as an example. It is said that when Lee found out that the house he was living in was an unlucky one, he followed a geomant’s advice and installed an eight-sided mirror outside his front door to bring him luck. Unfortunately, a storm damaged the mirror and the house was left unprotected from harmful influences. Soon afterwards Lee died in mysterious circumstances. Not only is Feng-Shui still used in South East Asia, but it has also spread right across the world. Even in modern New York a successful commercial artist called Milton Glaser has found it useful. He was so desperate after his office was broken into six times that he consulted a geomant. He was told to install a fish tank with six black fish and fix a red clock to the ceiling. Since then he has not been burglarized once. It may seem an incredible story, but no other suitable explanation has been offered.36.From the passage we can infer that Feng-Shui is NOT used in ______.A) JapanB) New YorkC) Hong KongD) China正确答案:A37.Geomants believe that ______.A) houses must only be painted redB) houses must face mountainsC) nature and life should be in harmonyD) green is an unlucky color正确答案:C38.Geomants think that the reason for Bruce Lee’s death i s that ______.A) he didn’t follow the geomants’ adviceB) he installed an eight-sided mirrorC) he misunderstood the geomant’s adviceD) a storm damaged the protection for his house正确答案:D39.The story of Milton Glaser shows that ______.A) colors are not important in geomancyB) geomancy is used in the WestC) geomancy is used by artistsD) the fight against crime is being won正确答案:B40.Which of the following best describes geomancy?A) It is a style of Oriental decoration.B) It is a type of painting.C) It is an ancient Chinese belief called Feng-Shui.D) It is an architectural design.正确答案:CPart III Vocabulary and Structure ( 11 minutes )Directions: There are a number of incomplete sentences in this part. But before you put the car into gear, you tap a key on the keyboard mounted by the steering wheel, and your newest e-mail flashes up on the windscreen. This seductive satyr is what you get when you cross a car and a computer. Dubbed the “network vehicle”, or net-mobile, it may soon come to a driveway near you (probably the one belonging to your rich neighbor). In a net-mobile, a motorist could tap into a regional road system but also to map out a route around rush-hour traffic snags. Drivers and passengers will be able to send and receive e-mail, track the latest sports scores or stock quotes, surf the Web, and even play video games. Or so, at least, say a number of computer-industry firms such as Microsoft, Sun, IBM and Netscape. The modern car is already an electronic showcase on wheels. On-board microcomputers improve fuel economy and reduce emissions. They operate anti-lock brake systems, and on some cars even regulate the firmness of the shock absorbers. But much of the technology needed to add extra is available now. A prototype network vehicle, produced by a consortium of Netscape, Sun, IBM and Delco (an automotive electronics firm based in Michigan), was introduced at the recent annual computer industry show in Las Vegas. It not only offered such desktop-computer-like services as e-mail, but allowed a driver to use them without looking away from the road. It was operated by voice commands and projected its data on to the windscreen, using the same sort of head-up display system found in。
