The most commonly used method is “quota sampling”. In the case of the quota sample the researchers make sure that they talk to a certain number of people from different sections of the community. For example, they may ensure that half of the people they speak to are men and that the other half are women. They may also decide to have fixed percentages for each age group. By using such techniques researchers are able to reduce bias in interviews. It is for this reason that most marketing organizations prefer to use “quota sampling”.
