∙Product name: HLM double-beam lime kilnsHLM double-beam lime kilns: low thermal loss, high lime activities, wide fuels adaptbility, simple structure, low cost and etc. are the advantages of HLM double-beam lime kilns which can be used in steel industry with blast-furnace (BF) gas and coke oven gas (COG), also in chemical industry and calcium carbide industry adopting waste gas of calcium carbide furnaces or/ and coal powderco-combusted techniques. HLM double-beam lime kilns are designed to improve the quality of lime, save energy and produce the high activity lime.XINHUA has registered the national patent on the HLM double-beam lime kilns which has been widely used by steel companies and chemical industries in China.Ⅰ、HLM double-beam lime kilns technical speciality1、Production capacity: 100t/d-600t/d.the operational flexibility can be 70% to 100%. A 300t/d kiln, for example, which the opertional flexibily can be regulated with in 210t/d-300t/d as freewill, can ensure a stable operation without compromising quality and consumption rates.2、Particle Size: 30mm-60mm；40mm-80mm，scale factor 1:2.3、Fuel type: natural gas, oil, pulverized coal, coke-oven gas, low heating value gas (e.g.blast-furnace gas), calcium carbide furnaces gas. Apart from all above fuel types, one of the most improtant features of the kiln is that mixed fuels are acceptable (gas-gas, gas-liquide, gas-solid and liquid-solid etc.)4、Lime: good quality lime, high lime activity (360ml, 4N HCL 10mins), LOI 3-6%.5、Low thermal loss: a reasonable thermal energy utilization system, the first air is preheated by exhaust gas, the second air absorb heat from lime in cooling process, then the complete combustion has been achieved, therefore, the thermal loss is reduced to 800-900kcal/kg lime.6、Operability: 48-50 weeks consecutively.7、Methods of calcining: the newly updated technology---3 way pressure system, which dramatically decrease LOI and significantly improve the lime activity.Ⅱ、Structural features and process instruction1、quasi-rectangular or circular kiln body. There are two layers of burning beams and perimeter nozzles set inside of the kiln, also there is a layer of waster gas suction beams. The kiln has been divided into five areas, storage zone, reheating zone, calcinating zone, post-calcinating zone and cooling zone.◆Storage zone which is from suction beam to the top of kiln is designed for storing certain amount of limestone to ensure normal operation during short-term maintenance work on charing devices on top of kiln.◆Preheating zone, between suction beams and upper burning beams, preheats limestone by reusing high temperature kiln gas generated by calcination.◆The calcinating zone is from upper burning beams to lower burning beams, in which the limestone is homogeneously calcinated into high quality of lime.◆The areas between burning beams and lower suction beams is post calcinating zone, which createsa high temperature pressureless enviroment for the calcinated lime to homogenize and finishing in order to significatly increase lime activities and reduce the L.O.I.◆The cooling zone starts from lower suction beams end up with discharging outlet, cooling air enters the kiln from bottom of the kiln cooling lime to around 75 ℃ and go upward to calcinating zone oxidizing.2、Two-layer of burning beams are the center part of the kiln. The fuel supply pipes (gas/liquid/solid fuels) are set inside of the beams, the fuel is equaly distributed in the cross-section by nozzles on the beams and mixed with combustion air to achieve efficient and uniform calcination, to avoid overburning or uncompleted burning and to improve lime activities.In order to protect the nozzles working under high tempreture environment, a interlining set on the burning-beam filled with circulation cooling agents (water or conduction oil) to constantly keep the nozzles’ tempreture down. The fresh air passes burning-beam entering kiln after being preheated. For the absolute protection of the nozzles, there is an alarm set to prevent cooling agents (water or conduction oil) from overheating.3、There is a layer of suction beams located at the upper part of the kiln. Numbers of suction beams is determined by the size of kilns. Kiln gas will be aspirated through even-distributed holes on the downside of the suction beams to ensure the equal negative pressure distribution in the cross-section.4、Another important feature of the kiln is two-way pressure system. The reused air is blowed by a small fan passing the special shaped speader beams entering cooling zone to uniformly cool down the lime, which keeps positive pressure under the calcination zone. Compared to a complete negative pressure system, the cooling air and the reused air can be controlled more accuratly by two-way pressure system. The waste gases at upper part of kiln can be extracted by a adjustable draughtfan, which maintains negative pressure above the calcination zone balancing the cross section tempreture. Airflow regulation rate is around 10%-100% , guarantees supply of combustion air and keeps thebest operational condition. Back to 1960s, almost all the big and midium-sized steel enterprises had production facilities to produce metallurgical lime for their own. However, the lime producing facilities were simple and crude with mainly manual operation, fuels were coke and anthracite. Therefore, unstable lime quality with high LO.I, low lime activities lower than 250mL and low free calcium oxide caused a large amount of lime comsumption. Then all the procedures of producing lime have been gradually improved such as mining, limestone selection, transportation, processing, selection of kiln types, technical improvement and finished lime.There will be a battery of advantages to employ high quality of lime in the process of steel making, in particular in convertor steelmaking. Statistically, the use of high quality of lime in convertor kilns will shorten the converting time by 10%, the molten steel yield will be increased by 1%, lime consumption will be reduced by 30%, saving 25% useage of fluorite also, the scrap ratio will be improved by approximately 2.5% . additionally, using active lime benefits desulfuration, dephosphorization and increase of service life of converter lining.
