Growing up, my parents didn't have the opportunity to receive a formal education. They never learned how to read
or write, and their English skills are very limited. As a result, communicating with them can be challenging at times.
I remember when I was in high school, I had to fill out college applications and financial aid forms. It was a daunting task for me, as I had to navigate through a lot of unfamiliar terms and procedures. I asked my parents for help, but they couldn't read or understand the forms. I had to rely on my own resources and the guidance of my school counselor.
Another example is when my parents need to go to the doctor or deal with any official paperwork. They often ask me to accompany them, as they don't feel confident communicating with others on their own. It can be
frustrating at times, but I understand that it's not their fault that they didn't have the same opportunities as me.
Despite their lack of education, my parents have always instilled in me the value of hard work and perseverance. They worked long hours in manual labor jobs to provide for our family, and they always encouraged me to pursue my dreams and education.
