Food and cancerFighting Cancer by the PlatefulNo single food can reduce your risk of cancer, but the right combination of foods may help make a difference. At mealtimes, strike a balance of at least 2/3 plant-based foods and no more than 1/3 animal protein. This "New American Plate" is an important cancer fighting tool, according to the American Institute for Cancer Research. Check out better and worse choices for your platFighting Cancer with ColorFruits and vegetables are rich in cancer-fighting nutrients -and the more color, the more nutrients they contain. These foods can help lower your risk in a second way, too, when they help you reach and maintain a healthy body weight. Carrying extra pounds increases the risk for multiple cancers, including colon, esophagus, and kidney cancers. Aim for at least five servings a day, prepared in a healthy way.The Cancer-Fighting BreakfastFolate is an important B vitamin that may help protect against cancers of the colon, rectum, and breast. You can find it in abundance on the breakfast table. Fortified breakfast cereals and whole wheat products are good sources of folate. So are orange juice, melons, and strawberries.More Folate-Rich FoodsOther good sources of folate are asparagus and eggs. You can also find it in chicken liver, beans, sunflower seeds, and leafy green vegetables like spinach or romaine lettuce. According to the ACS, the best way to get folate is not from a pill, but by eating enough fruits, vegetables, and enriched grain products.Pass Up the Deli CounterAn occasional Reuben sandwich or hot dog at the ballpark probably isn't going to hurt you. But cutting back on processed meats like bologna, ham, and hot dogs may help lower your risk of colorectal and stomach cancers. Also, eating meats that have been preserved by smoking or with salt raises your exposure to agents that can potentially cause cancer.Cancer-Fighting TomatoesWhether it's the lycopene -- the pigment that gives tomatoes their red color -- or something elseisn't clear. But some studies have linked eating tomatoes to reduced risk of several types of cancer, including prostate cancer. Studies also suggest that processed tomato products such as juice, sauce, or paste increase the cancer-fighting potential.Tea's Anticancer PotentialEven though the evidence is still spotty, tea, especially green tea, may be a strong cancer fighter. In laboratory studies, green tea has slowed or prevented the development of cancer in colon, liver, breast, and prostate cells. It also had a similar effect in lung tissue and skin. And in some longer term studies, tea was associated with lower risks for bladder, stomach, and pancreatic cancers.Grapes and CancerGrapes and grape juice, especially purple and red grapes, contain resveratrol. Resveratrol has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In laboratory studies, it has prevented the kind of damage that can trigger the cancer process in cells. There is not enough evidence to say that eating grapes or drinking grape juice or wine can prevent or treat cancerLimit Alcohol to Lower Cancer RiskCancers of the mouth, throat, larynx, esophagus, liver, and breast are all linked with drinking alcohol. Alcohol may also raise the risk for cancer of the colon and rectum. The American Cancer Society says that even the suggested daily limit of 2 drinks for men and 1 for women elevates the risk. Women at higher risk for breast cancer may want to talk with a doctor about what amount of alcohol, if any, is safe based on their personal risk factors.Water and Other Fluids Can ProtectWater not only quenches your thirst, but it may protect you against bladder cancer. The lower risk comes from water diluting concentrations of potential cancer-causing agents in the bladder. Also, drinking more fluids causes you to urinate more frequently. That lessens the amount of time those agents stay in contact with the bladder lining. The Mighty BeanBeans are so good for you, it's no surprise they may help fight cancer, too. They contain several potent phytochemicals that may protect the body's cells against damage that can lead to cancer. In the lab these substances slowed tumor growth and prevented tumors from releasing substances that damage nearby cells. The Cabbage Family vs. CancerCruciferous vegetables include broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, bok choy, and kale. These members of the cabbage family make an excellent stir fry and can really liven up a salad. But most importantly, components in these vegetables may help your body defend against cancers such as colon, breast, lung, and cervix.Dark Green Leafy VegetablesDark green leafy vegetables such as mustard greens, lettuce, kale, chicory, spinach, and chard have an abundance of fiber, folate, and carotenoids. These nutrients may help protect against cancer of the mouth, larynx, pancreas, lung, skin, and stomach.Protection From an Exotic SpiceCurcumin is the main ingredient in the Indian spice turmeric and a potential cancer fighter. Lab studies show it can suppress the transformation, proliferation, and invasion of cancerous cells for a wide array of cancersCooking Methods MatterHow you cook meat can make a difference in how big a cancer risk it poses. Frying, grilling, and broiling meats at very high temperatures causes chemicals to form that may increase cancer risk. Other cooking methods such as stewing, braising, or steaming appear to produce fewer of those chemicals. And when you do stew the meat, remember to add plenty of healthy, protective vegetables.A Berry Medley With a PunchStrawberries and raspberries have a phytochemical called ellagic acid. This powerful antioxidant may actually fight cancer in several ways at once, including deactivating certain cancer causing substances and slowing the growth of cancer cellsBlueberries for HealthThe potent antioxidents in blueberries may have wide value in supporting our health, starting with cancer. Antioxidants fight cancer by ridding the body of free radicals before they can do their damage to cells. Try topping oatmeal, cold cereal, yogurt, even salad with blueberries to boost your intake of these healthful berries.Pass on the SugarSugar may not cause cancer directly. But it may displace other nutrient-rich foods that help protect against cancer. And it increases calorie counts, which contributes to overweight and obesity. Excess weight can be a cancer risk. Fruit offers a sweet alternative in a vitamin-rich package.Don't Rely on SupplementsVitamins may help protect against cancer. But that's when you get them naturally from food. Both the American Cancer Society and the American Institute for Cancer Research emphasize that getting cancer-fighting nutrients from foods like nuts, fruits, and green leafy vegetables is vastly superior to getting them from supplements. Eating a healthy diet is best.。
饮食与癌症英文作文初一

饮食与癌症英文作文初一英文:As we all know, diet plays an important role in our health, and it is also closely related to the occurrence of cancer. A healthy diet can reduce the risk of cancer, while an unhealthy diet may increase the risk of cancer. 。
First of all, let's talk about the relationship between red meat and cancer. Research has shown that consuming large amounts of red meat, such as beef, pork, and lamb, may increase the risk of certain types of cancer, including colorectal cancer. This is because red meat contains a high amount of saturated fat, which can promote the growth of cancer cells. On the other hand, consuming a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can help reduce the risk of cancer. These foods are high in fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants, which can help protect the body against cancer. In addition, the way we cook our food can also affect the risk of cancer. For example, grilling, frying, or broiling meat at high temperatures can produce chemicals called heterocyclic amines (HCAs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which are known to increase the riskof cancer. Therefore, it is recommended to cook meat at lower temperatures and to avoid charring or burning it.Furthermore, excessive alcohol consumption is alsolinked to an increased risk of cancer. Alcohol can damage the cells in the body, leading to the development of cancer. It is important to limit alcohol intake and to drink in moderation to reduce the risk of cancer. In conclusion, maintaining a healthy diet is crucial in reducing the risk of cancer. By choosing the right foodsand cooking methods, and by limiting alcohol consumption,we can take proactive steps to protect ourselves against cancer.中文:众所周知,饮食在我们的健康中起着重要作用,它也与癌症的发生密切相关。

英语食物与癌症作文初中

英语食物与癌症作文初中Title: The Relationship Between Food and Cancer。
In recent years, the relationship between food and cancer has garnered significant attention, sparking debates and discussions worldwide. As our understanding ofnutrition and its impact on health deepens, it becomes increasingly evident that the food we consume plays a crucial role in either preventing or predisposing us to various health conditions, including cancer. In this essay, we will explore the intricate connection between food choices and cancer risk, shedding light on the importance of a balanced diet and lifestyle.First and foremost, it is essential to acknowledge that cancer is a complex disease with multifaceted causes, including genetic predisposition, environmental factors, and lifestyle choices. While genetic factors are beyond our control, certain lifestyle habits, such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and poor dietary choices, significantly contribute to cancer development. Among these factors, diet holds particular significance due to itsdirect influence on our overall health and well-being.Research has shown that certain dietary patterns and food choices can either increase or decrease the risk of cancer. For instance, diets rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins have been associated with a lower risk of various cancers, including colorectal, breast, and prostate cancer. These foods are abundant in essential nutrients, antioxidants, and fiber, which help protectcells from damage, support immune function, and promote overall health.Conversely, a diet high in processed meats, sugary beverages, fried foods, and unhealthy fats has been linkedto an increased risk of cancer. Processed meats, such as bacon, sausage, and deli meats, contain additives and preservatives that may contribute to carcinogenesis. Similarly, excessive consumption of sugary beverages and foods high in added sugars can lead to obesity and insulin resistance, both of which are risk factors for cancerdevelopment. Moreover, the cooking methods we employ can also impact the carcinogenic properties of certain foods. For example, grilling or frying meats at high temperatures can produce carcinogenic compounds, such as heterocyclic amines (HCAs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which may increase cancer risk when consumed regularly. In contrast, steaming, boiling, or baking meats at lower temperatures can help minimize the formation of these harmful compounds. In addition to specific foods and cooking methods, maintaining a healthy weight and staying physically active are crucial factors in cancer prevention. Obesity and sedentary lifestyles have been linked to an increased risk of several cancers, including colorectal, breast, and endometrial cancer. By adopting a balanced diet and engaging in regular physical activity, individuals can lower their risk of obesity-related cancers and improve their overall health outcomes.Furthermore, it is essential to recognize the role ofindividual dietary preferences and cultural factors in shaping dietary habits and cancer risk. While certain foods may be associated with a higher risk of cancer in some populations, they may play a minor role in others. Therefore, personalized dietary recommendations that consider individual preferences, cultural practices, and nutritional needs are paramount in promoting healthy eating habits and reducing cancer risk on a global scale. In conclusion, the relationship between food and cancer is complex and multifaceted, influenced by various dietary factors, cooking methods, lifestyle choices, and genetic predispositions. While certain foods and dietary patterns may increase the risk of cancer, others can help lower it. By adopting a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins, while minimizing the consumption of processed and unhealthy foods, individuals can reduce their risk of cancer and improve their overall health and well-being. Additionally, maintaining a healthy weight, staying physically active, and avoiding harmful habits such as smoking and excessive alcohol consumption are integral components of cancer prevention. Througheducation, awareness, and lifestyle modifications, we can empower individuals to make informed dietary choices and reduce the global burden of cancer. This essay draws inspiration from various online sources discussing the relationship between food and cancer and aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the topic, synthesizing information from credible sources to deliver a high-quality and informative piece of writing.。
抗癌厨房作文800字

抗癌厨房作文800字英文回答:Cancer is a devastating disease that affects millions of people worldwide. As someone who has witnessed the impact of cancer on loved ones, I understand the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and incorporatingcancer-fighting foods into my diet. In this essay, I will discuss the concept of an "anti-cancer kitchen" and how it can help prevent and combat cancer.First and foremost, it is essential to understand that a healthy diet plays a crucial role in cancer prevention. Numerous studies have shown that certain foods possessanti-cancer properties and can help reduce the risk of developing cancer. For example, fruits and vegetables, particularly those rich in antioxidants such as berries, leafy greens, and tomatoes, are known to have cancer-fighting properties. These foods are packed with vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals that help strengthen theimmune system and neutralize harmful free radicals in the body.Additionally, including whole grains in your diet can also contribute to cancer prevention. Foods That Fight Cancer抗癌症的食物Foods That Fight CancerDiet is now considered a major weapon(武器) against cancer. The National Cancer Institute (协会)estimates that about one-third of all cancers are linked to diet, and recent research indicated(指出)that what you eat may help to significantly reduce your risk.Cancer develops over a long time, which means that you have years-typically decades(数十年)-in which to hinder(阻碍)or promote it. Researchers are finding that what you eat may interfere(妨碍)with cancer growth at various stages. For example, certain foods can block (v.阻碍) the chemicals that initiate(开始)cancer. Antioxidants(抗氧化剂), found in some vitamins and minerals(矿物), can snuff(消灭)out oxygen free radicals(基础;原子团), substances that are thought to make cells more susceptible(易受影响的)to cancer, and they can even repair some of the cellular damage that has been done. And some food-wheat bran in particular-has been shown to shrink(收缩)precancerous(癌症前期的)cells.A recent review(评论)of 17 studies from 17 nations reveals that people who eat the most fruits and vegetables have about half the cancer rates of those who eat the least. That includes cancers of the lung, colon(结肠), breast, cervix(宫颈), esophagus(食道), oral cavity(口腔), stomach, bladder(膀胱), pancreas(胰腺)and ovary(卵巢). In fact, some research suggests that frequent consumption(肺痨;消耗)of fruits and vegetables can cut the risk of lung cancer even in smokers. “It is almost mind-boggling(难以理解的),” says Tim Byers, an epidemiologist (流行病学家)with the U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “that ordinary fruits and vegetables can be so effective against such a potent(有效的)carcinogen(致癌物质)as cigarette smoke.”One of the most studied antioxidants in vegetables and fruits thought to protect against cancer is beta-carotene(B-胡萝卜素), concentrated(聚集)in deep green, yellow and orange vegetables such as carrots, sweet potatoes and spinach(菠菜). Fruits high in beta-carotene include apricots (杏)and cantaloupes(哈密瓜). In test-tube(试管)studies at Harvard University, beta-carotene had a direct toxic effect on cells taken from malignant(有害的)tumors(肿瘤). It also reduced the growth of lung-cancer cells and altered(改变)the proteins needed for tumors to grow.Research also shows that beta-carotene can change in the body to retinoid acid(视黄酸), a substance used in clinical trials to treat certain cancers. Here are some of the foods that contain cancer-fighting chemicals.Tomatoes. One of the compounds in tomatoes that is thought to reduce the risk of cancer is lycopene(番茄红素), the pigment(色素)that makes tomatoes red. Lycopene, an antioxidant that is also found in watermelons and apricots, quenches(结束)certain cancer- triggering oxygen free radicals.Having little lycopene in your blood is associated with a higher risk of pancreatic cancer, according in a Johns Hopkins University study. People with pancreatic cancer showed lower levels of lycopene compared with healthy individuals. Those with the least blood lycopene had over five times the risk of pancreatic cancer as healthy people with the most blood lycopene.Lycopene is present in tomato products, including sauces(酱油), tomato paste and even ketchup(番茄酱).Green Vegetables. A recent Italian study showed that dark-green leafy vegetables lower the risk of many cancers. Spinach, broccoli(西兰花), kale(甘兰)and dark-green lettuces(油麦菜)are chock-full of antioxidants, including beta-carotene, folate and lutein,. A good rule ofthumb: the darker the vegetable, the more antioxidants within.Citrus(柑橘类)Fruit. “Eat oranges, grapefruits(葡萄柚), lemons and limes as often as possible,”says toxicologist Herbert Pierson, a former project officer with the National Cancer Institute. He calls citrus fruit an all-around cancer package because it possesses every class of natural substances (carotenoids(类胡萝卜素), flavonoids(黄铜)and others) that individually have neutralized(中立的)powerful chemical carcinogens in animals.Citrus fruit may be particularly effective in reducing the risk of pancreatic cancer. One study found that in a group of Swedes, those who ate a citrus fruit almost daily reduced the risk of pancreatic cancer by one-half to more than two-thirds, as compared with eating citrus fruit less than once a week.Cruciferous(十字花科的)Vegetables. Cruciferous vegetables, such as cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, kale, mustard greens and turnips, may reduce the risk of breast cancer. In fact, researchers at Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer and Allied diseases at the University of Nebraska at Omaha found that feeding animals cabbage and collard greens (also a cruciferous vegetable), along with a low-fat diet, reduced the incidence(发病率)of mammary(乳腺癌)cancers. Eat cruciferous vegetables raw(生食)or lightly cooked. Overcooking may destroy the indoles(吲哚), compounds found in these vegetables that may protect against cancer.Cruciferous vegetables may also work to head off stomach and colon cancer. Research conducted in Utah revealed(显示)that men who ate the most cruciferous vegetables had a 70 percent lower risk of colon cancer than those who ate the least of such vegetables.Soybeans. Soybeans contain at least five compounds believed to(抑制)cancer. In fact, one of the compounds is chemically similar to the drug tamoxifen (三苯氧胺), which is routinely used to treat estrogen-dependent(雌性激素)breast cancer and is now being tested in a large clinical trial to see if it can prevent the disease. In animal studies, soybean constituents have been found to block colon, skin and other cancers by possibly slowing the growth and division(分割)of cancer cells.Wheat Bran. Wheat bran may lower the risk of colon cancer. A double-blind(双盲)study of patients at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center found that two one-ounce servings of wheat bran cereal(谷类)a day caused premalignant colon polyps(息肉)to shrink within six months. Most remarkable, say researchers, is that such a small amount of food could have such an impact within a short period of time, illustrating(图解)that dietary intervention(饮食干预)may work even after precancerous warning signs have appeared.Low-Fat Milk. While the saturated(饱和的)fat in milk seems to promote certain cancers, another substance in milk may deter(阻止)them. Researchers at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, N. Y., discovered, not surprisingly, that drinkers of whole milk had higher odds than non-milk-drinkers of developing cancers of the oral cavity, stomach, colon, rectum, lung, bladder, breast and cervix. But they also found that those drinking low-fat milk were less likely than non-milk-drinkers to develop cancers of the oral cavity, stomach, rectum and cervix. Why? Scientists suspect(猜想)that elements(基础)such as calcium, riboflavin, or vitamins A, C, and D (present in whole milk, too, but apparently less effective) may act as anti-cancer agents in ways not yet understood. To get the most cancer-protective compounds from your diet, strive(努力)for five or more servings of fruits and vegetables daily, advises the National Cancer Institute. One serving means one-half cup of most cooked or raw fruits or vegetables, one cup of raw leafy vegetables, onemedium(半生的)piece of fresh fruit, or six ounces of fruit juice or vegetable juice. The ideal diet is low in fat and calories, high in fiber, and it includes a variety of nutrient-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, seeds, nuts(坚果)and, if desired, low-fat animal proteins.翻译:抗癌的食物现在饮食开始被考虑作为抵抗癌症的主要武器。

Foods for fighting Cancer by Christopher Yorston
Fruit is recognised as one of the most powerful foods for helping the body fight Cancer. Surprisingly, the homely prune is the fruit with the highest cancer−fighting powers. Previously it was believed that oranges and spinach were the best anti−cancer fruit and vegetables. The research team, from Tufts University in Boston, has released the results of its study on the Internet. Researchers measured fruits and vegetables for their oxygen radical absorption capacity (ORAC) which is the capacity of foods to absorb free radicals. Free radicals are destructive elements which occur in our bodies when healthy oxygen molecules are transformed into a highly−reactive, unstable form of oxygen. It is believed that they can lead to illnesses such as cancer and heart disease. Anti−oxidants however, can neutralise these free radicals.
The new study says that the anti−oxidant power of blood in people who eat prunes increases dramatically. Eating prunes would cause the anti−oxidant power in the blood to double or treble compared with eating other recognised cancer−fighting fruits.

How to Fight Cancer and Win - A Book Review
By David Snape
How to Fight Cancer and Win is a book written by William L. Fischer.
You might find this book interesting and useful. Despite being published in 1992, it remains (as of this writing) among the top 20,000 sellers on a popular book−selling site.
William Fischer worked for pharmaceutical companies in Germany. He later became a writer on natural healing methods and has traveled far to learn the healing methods that exist in different cultures.
In his book, How to Fight Cancer and Win, William doesn't advise you to ignore your oncologist's treatment plan. He does, however, give you plenty of information on how to supplement your fight against cancer. Flaxseed oil is part of that advice.
Fighting cancer can be a tough battle to win. I have met a few people who believe they have beaten their cancer through a powerful system called Falun Dafa.
You can download a book filled with stories of people that have overcome all kinds of illness here: /emh/download/publications/health_index.html
If you know of someone who has cancer, perhaps you should let him or her know about both of these resources.
