一路海外求学路:帝国理工学院帮我实现最初的梦想我2001年从澳大利亚墨尔本开始了自己的留学生涯。
2007年,在英国伦敦帝国理工学院获得航空工程专业硕士学位后,经过不懈努力,成为罗尔斯?罗伊斯(Rolls-Royce plc.,汽车品牌译为劳斯莱斯)民用航空发动机公司(Rolls-Royce Holdings)售后业务经理。
2014年,为寻求更大的发展空间,我辞去了罗尔斯?罗伊斯的工作,在香港注册了翔升航空咨询有限公司(Aero Sustainable),并担任创始人、执行总裁。
我的父母早年曾被公派海外,从小心中就有一个希望出去看看的想法。
我的家庭其实还蛮国际化的,小时候爸妈就常驻美国,看他们拍的照片和带回来的各种东西,让我对外边的世界很好奇。
在高二即将结束时,我自己已经积累了一些学识和能力,认为出国的时机已经成熟,便与父母商议。
一家人一拍即合。
没过多久,便启程南半球,坐标墨尔本。
在澳大利亚完成了为期两年的国际预科文凭(International Baccalaureate Diploma)后,迎来了留学生涯中第一个重要的选择。
面对未来的求学,到底应该选择怎样的学校和专业呢?其实我很挣扎,因为我的家里没有人当工程师,都是管理和市场营销方面的职位。
与此同时,导师认为我是做律师的料,希望我报考法学专业,父母则希望报考伦敦政治经济学院,学习商科。
经过仔细考虑,我决定还是先学感兴趣的工程学,就算以后要转专业学习经济学,自己还是有时间的,工程学转经济学相对容易,但经济学转工程学就不容易了。
在对比了不同国家的几所高校后,把最后的目标锁定在伦敦帝国理工学院,并同时申请了航空工程、机械工程和土木工程三个硕士专业。
在此之前,由于南北半球学制不同,为了在帝国理工学院开学之前积累一点经验,了解课程内容,同时避免荒废时间,申请在墨尔本大学机械工程专业(Mechanical Engineering)学习一个学期,希望以后可以再申请转换学分。
