很多学科都有几个专门发表快讯文章的期刊，或者叫XX Letters，或者叫XX Communications，也有一些期刊设立快讯栏目。
那么什么样的工作应该作为快讯发表呢？这两篇文章的共同缺点是创新性严重不足、研究不完整。
结合我以前对快讯类文章的审稿经验，我发现这两点几乎是共性，说明作者要么对自己研究成果的创新性没有把握，要么对快讯文章的要求不够清楚。
有的人只知道快讯就是快速发表，但对快速发表背后的学术高要求却不甚了了，甚至连写作都是草草而就，以至于逻辑上漏洞百出、语言上错误连篇，还不如一个研究论文，这怎么能够说服审稿人呢？因此，应该首先了解一下什么事快讯文章。
下面是《化学学报》的研究通讯栏目说明：
研究通讯主要以短文的形式，简短、迅速地报道化学各分支领域最新的实验或理论研究成果。
研究通讯除了必须具有原创性和新颖性外，还须具有显著的学术价值且能引起广泛关注。
对于新颖性特别高、时效性特别强的工作，作者可在投稿说明信(cover letter, 见4.1)中说明，并可审请“绿色通道”(见4.2)，以最快的速度审理发表。
对于质量不高、专业性太强或读者群较小的稿件将不经过审稿，直接退回给作者或建议投到其它期刊发表。
从以上可以看出，快讯文章应该把握三点：创新、高质、完整。
创新性是起码的要求。
不新的东西凭啥快速优先发表？对于创新性的把握需要作者对本领域的研究动态非常了解。
如果要投国际期刊的快讯，就要了解国际前沿，要投国内期刊的快讯，至少要了解国内前沿，否则就是闭门造车。
对于研究生的作品，导师应该为创新性把关，不要让不合格的工作拿出来丢人。
高质量是对所有文章的共同要求，快讯文章要在这方面更胜一筹。
写快讯文章，作者往往要在少得多的篇幅内阐述清楚和普通研究文章同样多的内容，对写作能力和科学素材的组织能力要求更高。
但很遗憾，我以前审过的快讯文章，很少有写好的。
完整性是前面两条的基础。
快讯文章快速发表的前提是研究已经完成，数据齐备，逻辑清楚，因为研究新而且有重要学术意义才有必要快速发表，不是拿个半截子结果说事。
一旦这些齐全了，写作就会容易些。
我们最近在《Optics Letters》上发表了一篇关于光学薄膜的文章，那是两个学生做了3年的工作，为了解析薄膜结构和更好地控制制备方法，光是同步辐射技术就用到了GISAXS、GIXRD、XRR三种，在北京光源和上海光源四个站做了很多实验，其他的测试更多，所以我们对这个工作的一切细节都心里有数。
当修改意见要求增加一些结果时，我们马上就能拿出来，因为实验早就做了，只是篇幅限制无法都放上去，所以很快就可以改好，修改稿投过去几个小时后就被接收了，如果扣除时差，几乎是马上接收。
作为审稿人和作者，我希望真正有较高学术价值的研究，一定要把握好以上三点，认真写作，研究完整之前不要急于投稿，否则一旦被拒，至少这个期刊就不太好再投了，或者自己直接低就了，这样很可能埋没好成果。
