B.To give practical advice.C.To tell an interesting story. D.To present a research result.(B)You may think that sailing is a difficult sport, but it is really not hard to learn it.You do not need to be strong. But you need to be quick. And you need to understand a few basic rules about the wind.First, you must ask yourself, “Where is the wind coming from? Is it coming from ahead o r behind or from the side?” You must think about this all the time on the boat. The wind direction tells you what to do with the sail.Let's start with the wind blowing from the behind. This means the wind and the boat are going in the same direction. Then you must always keep the sail outside the boat.It should be at a 90° angle (角度) to the boat. Then it will catch the wind best.If the wind is blowing from the side, it is blowing across the boat.In this case, you must keep the sail half way outside the boat.It should be at a 45° angle to the boat.It needs to be out far enough to catch the wind, but it shouldn't flap (摆动).It shouldn't look like on a flagpole. If it is flapping, it is probably out too far, and the boat will slow down.Sailing into the wind is not possible. If you try, the sail will flap and the boat will stop. You may want to go in that direction. It is possible, but you can't go in a straight line. You must go first in one direction and then in another. This is called tacking. When you are tacking, you must always keep the sail inside the boat.45.What should you consider first while sailing?A.Sailors' strength. B.Wave levels.C.Wind directions. D.Size of sails.46.What does the word “It” underlined in Paragraph 4 refer to?A.The boat. B.The wind. C.The sail. D.The angle.47.What do you have to do when sailing against the wind?A.Move in a straight line. B.Allow the sail to flap.C.Lower the sail. D.Tack the boat.48.Where can you probably find the text?A.In a popular magazine. B.In a tourist guidebook.C.In a physics textbook. D.In an official report.(C)Facial expressions carry meaning that is determined by situations and relationships. For example, in American culture (文化) the smile is in general an expression of pleasure.Yet it also has other uses.A woman's smile at a police officer does not carry the same meaning as the smile she gives to a young child.A smile may show love or politeness. It can also hide true feelings. It often causes confusion (困惑) across cultures. For example, many people in Russia smiling at strangers in public to be unusual and even improper.Yet many Americans smile freely at strangers in public places (although this is less common in big cities). Some Russians believe that Americans smile in the wrong places; some Americans believe that Russians don't smile enough. In Southeast Asian culture, a smile is frequently used to cover painful feelings.Vietnamese people may tell a sad story but end the story with a smile. Our faces show emotions (情感), but we should n ot attempt to “read” people from another culture as we would “read” someone from our own culture. The fact that members of one culture do not express their emotions as openly as do members of another does not mean that they do not experience emotions.Rather, there are cultural differences in the amount of facial expressions permitted. For example, in public and in formal situations many Japanese do not show their emotions as freely as Americans do.When with friends, Japanese and Americans seem to show their emotions similarly. It is difficult to generalize about Americans and facial expressiveness because of personal and cultural differences in the United States.People from certain cultural backgrounds in the United States seem to be more facially expressive than others. The key is to try not to judge people whose ways of showing emotion are different. If we judge according to our own cultural habits, we may make the mistake of “reading” the other person incorrectly.49.What does the smile usually mean in the U.S.?A.Love. B.Politeness. C.Joy. D.Thankfulness.50.The author mentions the smile of the Vietnamese to prove that smile can ___ .A.show friendliness to strangers B.be used to hide true feelingsC.be used in the wrong places D.show personal habits51.What should we do before attempting to “read” people?A.Learn about their relations with others.B.Understand their cultural backgrounds.C.Find out about their past experience.D.Figure out what they will do next.52.What would be the best title for the test?A.Cultural Differences B.Smiles and RelationshipC.Facial Expressiveness D.Habits and Emotions (D)ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia – One of the world's most famous fossils (化石) – the 3.2 million-year-old Lucy skeleton (骨骼) unearthed in Ethiopia in 1974 – will go on an exhibition tour abroad for the first time in the United States, officials said Tuesday.Even the Ethiopian public has only seen Lucy twice. The Lucy on exhibition at the Ethiopian National Museum in the capital, Addis Ababa, is a replica while the real remains are usually locked in a secret storeroom.A team from the Museum of National Science in Houston, Texas, spent four years discussing with the Ethiopians for the U.S.tour, which will start in Houston next September.“Ethiopia's rich culture of both the past and today, is one of the best kept secrets in the world,” said Joel Bartsch, director of the Houston museum. The six-year tour will also go to Washington, New York, Denver and Chicago.Officials said six other U.S.cities may be on the tour. But they said plans had not been worked out.Travelling with Lucy will be 190 other fossils.Lucy, her name taken from a Beatles song that played in a camp the night of her discovery, is part ofthe skeleton of what was once a 312 -foot-tall ape-man (猿人).53.The author writes this text mainly to ___ .A.introduce a few U.S.museumsB.describe some research workC.discuss the value of an ape-manD.report a coming event54.What does the words “a replica” in Paragraph 2 refer to?A.A painting of the skeleton. B.A photograph of LucyC.A copy of the skeleton. D.A written record of Lucy.55.How many cities has Lucy's U.S.tour plan already included?A.Four. B.Five. C.Six. D.Eleven.56.What was the skeleton named after?A.An ape-man. B.A song. C.A singer. D.A camp.(E)Make Up Your Mind to SucceedKind-hearted parents have unknowingly left their children defenseless against failure. The generation born between 1980 and 2001 grew up playing sports where scores and performance were played down because “everyone's winter.” And their report cards sounded more positive (正面的) than ever before. As a result, Stanford University professor Carol Dweck, PhD, calls them “the overpraised generation.”Dweck has been studying how people deal with failure for 40 years. Her research has led her to find out two clearly different mind-sets that have a great effect on how we react to it.Here's how they work:A fixed mind-set is grounded in the belief that talent (才能) is genetic –you're a born artist, point guard, or numbers person. The fixed mind-set believes it's sure to succeed without much effort and regards failure as personal shame. When things get difficult, it's quick to blame, lie, and even stay away from future difficulties. On the other hand, a growth mind-set believes that no talent is entirely heaven-sent and that effort and learning make everything possible.Because the ego (自尊) isn't on the line as much, the growth mind-set sees failure as a chance rather than shame. When faced with a difficulty, it's quick to rethink, change and try again. In fact, it enjoys this experience. We are all born with growth mind-sets.(Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to live in the world.) But parents, teachers, and instructors often push us into fixed mind-sets by encouraging certain actions and misdirecting praise.Dweck's book, Mind-set: The New Psychology of Success, and online instructional program explain this in depth. But she says there are many little things you can start doing today to make sure that your children, grandchildren and even you are never defeated by failure.57.What does the author think about the present generation?A.They don't do well at school. B.They are often misunderstood.C.They are eager to win in sports. D.They are given too much praise.58.A fixed mind-set person is probably one who ___ .A.doesn't want to work hardB.cares a lot about personal safetyC.cannot share his ideas with othersD.can succeed with the help of teachers59.What does the growth mind-set believe?A.Admitting failure is shameful.B.Talent comes with one's birth.C.Scores should be highly valued.D.Getting over difficulties is enjoyable.60.What should parents do for their children based on Dweck's study?A.Encourage them to learn from failures.B.Prevent them from making mistakes.C.Guide them in doing little things.D.Help them grow with praise.

1The Best Day Ever!Hey there! My name is Timmy and I'm going to tell you all about the bestest day of my entire life so far! It was last summer, right before I started 4th grade. My mom and dad had been promising to take me and my little sister Sally to the awesome new water park that just opened up near our house. Well, one sunny Saturday morning, they finally did!I woke up super early, like the sun was barely even up yet. I was just too excited to sleep anymore! I got dressed in my favorite swimming trunks with the sharks on them and put on a t-shirt and sandals. I tried to be really quiet because everyone else was still sleeping, but I was bouncing off the walls with energy. Finally, after what felt likeForEVER, my parents and Sally all woke up too. We had a quick breakfast of cereal and then piled into the car. Mom and dad had packed a huge cooler filled withsandwiches, drinks, chips, and even some cookies for later. We were all set!The drive to the water park only took about 15 minutes. As we got closer, I could see the huge colorful slides and tube rides peeking out over the tops of the trees. I pressed my face against the window, eyes wide with amazement. This place looked EPIC!We parked and hurried over to the entrance gates. The line wasn't too bad since we had gotten there right when they opened at 10am. Once inside, we found a nice spot to set up our towels and cooler near some shady palm trees.Sally and I immediately wanted to hit the wave pool first. The waves weren't really big, but they were still a blast to try and jump over. After riding the waves for a while, we spotted these cool looking slides that sent you zipping through a twisting tube before shooting you out into a pool at the end. Oh man, those were so much fun!Next up, the lazy river! We all grabbed these big inner tubes and just floated along, letting the currents pull us in a big circle around the park. It was such a relaxing way to dry off and rest our legs after all the swimming and running around. We bounced around between the different slides, pools, and rides all day long. I even convinced my dad to go with me on the rebounding blob jump thing. You had to climb up and jump off this tall platform, trying to launch yourself far enough to make the huge blob of inflated rubber actually bounce. We both ended up splashing down with huge belly flops! It was awesome. As the day started winding down, we played some games in the arcade they had there and earned enough tickets to get Sally a cute teddy bear. I opted for some candy instead. Hey, I was a kid! Finally, we were some of the last people leaving as the park was getting ready to close for the night. We were absolutely wiped out from swimming and running around from open to close. I fell asleep in the car on the way home and had to be carried inside and straight up to bed. That entire day was just pure bliss for a kid like me. Tons of slides, pools, games, and most importantly, no school! Justnon-stop fun in the sun with my whole family. We all had smiles plastered on our faces from start to finish. To this day, it's still one of my favorite memories from childhood. The vacation didn't stop there though. The next day, we headed off on a big road trip, but that's a whole other story!篇2My Big Exam AdventureHi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm 10 years old. I just had the biggest, most exciting, and maybe a little bit scary experience of my whole life so far - I took the English portion of the big high school entrance exam called the Gaokao! I know, I know, I'm just a little kid in elementary school. But my parents really want me to get into a good high school and university later on, so they signed me up to take the English exam a few years early as practice. At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to do it. The Gaokao is supposed to be crazy hard, with hours and hours of testing over several days. My older cousins who took it looked like zombies afterwards! But my mom and dad promised to take me to get hot pot if I did a good job, so I agreed to give it a try. We practiced English reading, writing, and listening skills every night for weeks beforehand. Finally the big day arrived! I was so nervous when I woke up that I could barely eat any congee for breakfast. My stomach felt like there were a thousand butterflies fluttering around in it. The test was being held at a huge high school downtown that I hadnever been to before. There were kids everywhere when we arrived, looking just as anxious as I felt. I gave my mom and dad a huge hug before being ushered into the exam room with all the other testing students. The first section was listening comprehension. I had to put on those funny headphones and listen really carefully to recordings about different topics, then answer multiple choice questions about what I heard. There was one story about a boy who got lost at the zoo that I remember pretty well. Some of the speakers had really strong accents that made it a little hard to understand at times. But altogether I didn't think it was too bad.Next up was the reading comprehension section, which was my favorite part. I've always loved reading English books, newspapers, and magazines ever since I was a little kid, so most of the passages felt pretty straightforward. There were some opinion pieces that asked us to pick out the main ideas and author's stance on different subjects. And there were a couple random hairball ones about super technical scientific research that I basically had to guess on. But overall I feel pretty confident about how I did there. Then we moved on to the writing section, which was definitely the hardest part for me. The first essay prompt askedus to describe a happy childhood memory in detail. I ended up writing about the time my grandpa took me and my cousins to fly kites in the park and we all got ice cream afterwards. But I ran out of time before I could really finish it up with a good conclusion. Oops! The second essay question was about whether or not we should be required to learn multiple foreign languages in school.I think I did an okay job arguing for both sides - knowing multiple languages is really useful for talking to people from other cultures and getting jobs later on, but it's also really difficult and takes a lot of work. In the end though, I came down in favor of just focusing on English.By the time the writing section ended, my hand was completely cramped up and my brain felt like mush. I was so relieved when the exam proctor finally told us we could leave! My parents were waiting outside and greeted me with the biggest smiles when I walked out. We headed straight for the hot pot restaurant to celebrate me being done. I was so hungry I think I ate my weight in noodles, meat, and veggies! On the drive home, I asked my mom and dad how they thought I did. They said I showed a lot of courage and perseverance by taking on such a challenging test at my age.And even though some parts were really hard, the experience of preparing and trying my best was amazing practice for the future.I have to agree! While parts of the Gaokao English exam kicked my butt, I felt really proud that I pushed myself and worked as hard as I could.Who knows, in a few years when it's actually time for me to take the offical Gaokao, maybe it'll seem like a walk in the park compared to my first practice round! A boy can dream, right? But one thing's for sure - I'll definitely be way more prepared after this trial run. Wish me luck!篇3The Best Summer Vacation Ever!Hi there! My name is Lily and I'm 10 years old. I just had the best summer vacation of my whole entire life and I can't wait to tell you all about it!It all started on the last day of school. I was so excited for summer to finally be here. No more waking up super early, no more homework, and best of all - no more school lunches (sorry cafeteria ladies, but your meatloaf is really gross)! As soon as the final bell rang, I raced home and started packing my suitcase. You see, my parents had a huge surprise planned for me and my little brother Tommy. They didn't tell us anything about it, just that we needed to pack enough clothes and stuff for 2 whole weeks! Tommy and I could barely sleep that night because we were so anxious and curious about where we were going. The next morning, we jumped into the car bright and early before the sun even came up. After driving for what felt like forever, we finally stopped at the airport! I had never been on a real airplane before, so I was shaking with excitement. The flight attendants were so nice and gave me extra pretzels and soda when I asked. Flying was strange at first, but I loved looking out the window at the puffy clouds and tiny houses and cars down below. After a few hours in the air, the pilot told us we were landing in California! I couldn't believe my ears. California?? The land of Hollywood, celebrities, beaches, and Disneyland? No way! My mind was blown. And that's when the real adventure began. First, we drove down the iconic Hollywood Boulevard and saw all the fun stars on the sidewalk. We even got to put our hands and feet into the handprints at the Chinese Theater, just like the movie stars do! How cool is that?Next up was the best part...Disneyland! We spent three whole days at the happiest place on Earth. We rode every single roller coaster and got splashed on Splash Mountain over and over again. Meeting Mickey Mouse was a dream come true. I'll never forget the look of pure joy on Tommy's face when we watched the spectacular fireworks show over Sleeping Beauty's castle. After leaving the magic of Disney behind, we headed down to the beach near Los Angeles. The Pacific Ocean was massive! The waves were huge and knocked me over a few times. We went boogie boarding, built a gazillion sandcastles, and had delicious shaved ice treats. One day we even saw a family of dolphins swimming right offshore! On our last few days, we drove down the scenic Pacific Coast Highway to San Diego. We visited the world-famous San Diego Zoo and saw everything from tiny monkeys to huge elephants. My favorite animals were the lazy panda bears - they were so stinky but so cute and cuddly looking. We also went to SeaWorld and saw the hilarious dolphin shows. I laughed so hard my belly hurt! Before we knew it, our two week adventure was over. I was so sad to leave California behind, but so grateful to my parentsfor giving us such an incredible experience. We made so many amazing memories that I'll never forget.Back at home, all my friends were super jealous when I showed them my photos and souvenirs. Being in California really opened my eyes to what a big, exciting world we live in. There are so many places I want to travel to and things I want to see. For now though, I'm just dreaming about our next family vacation!Well, that's the story of my most epic summer ever. Thanks for reading! I'll leave you with one last piece of advice: never, ever pass up an opportunity to get a Dole Whip at Disneyland. That pineapple frozen treat is life-changing! Until next time!篇4My Favorite Animal FriendsHi there! My name is Lily and I'm 10 years old. For this essay, I'm going to tell you all about my favorite animal friends. I just love animals so much! They are such funny, cute, and interesting creatures. I have a few pets of my own, but I'm also really into learning about all the cool animals that live in the wild too.First up, let me introduce you to my dog Rufus. He's a big goofy golden retriever and he's been my best friend since I was a little kid. Rufus loves to play fetch and go for long walks in the park. He's really energetic and gets so excited whenever I come home from school. As soon as I walk in the door, he starts jumping up and down, wagging his tail like crazy! It always makes me laugh. Rufus is super loyal and affectionate too. At night, he likes to cuddle up next to me on the couch while I'm reading or watching TV. I'm really grateful to have such a loving pet.In addition to Rufus, my family also has two cats - Smokey and Bandit. Those little furballs are total goofballs! Smokey is a gray tabby and she's very independent and a little bit sassy. She'll let you pet her for a little while, but then she gets annoyed and just wanders off to take a nap somewhere. Bandit on the other hand is a total lovebug. He's got beautiful black and white markings and he loves snuggling up in people's laps. The funny thing about Bandit is that whenever you call his name, he meows back at you! It's like he's trying to have an actual conversation. My cats definitely keep me entertained with their silly antics. As much as I love my pets at home, I'm also obsessed with learning about animals that live in the wild, especially bigmajestic ones like elephants, lions, and gorillas. Elephants are probably my favorite of all. Did you know that elephants are the largest land animals on Earth? They're so massive and wrinkly but also really graceful and gentle creatures. Baby elephants are called calves and they're just about the cutest things ever! I love watching videos of elephant herds walking together through the grasslands. The babies always stick close to their moms. It's adorable.Lions are another wild animal that I find fascinating. Of course, male lions are the stars with their big manes and mighty roars. But did you know that the females are actually the ones who do most of the hunting for the pride? Girl power! Lions are what's called "apex predators", which means they're at the very top of the food chain. I find it incredible that these massive felines can take down huge prey like zebras, wildebeests, and even giraffes. The way they work together as a coordinated team to stalk and ambush their prey is just amazing. I'd love to go on an African safari one day to see lions in their natural habitat.Gorillas are another favorite of mine from the animal kingdom. They're so big and strong yet also quite peaceful and calm if you don't bother them. Gorillas are highly intelligent and live in close family groups led by a big alpha male silverback. Ithink it's really cool how the whole gorilla troop works together, shares parenting duties, and uses basic Sign Language to communicate with each other. I watched a documentary about researchers who spent years living with gorillas in the wild and the gorillas ended up accepting the researchers as part of their family! That's just mind-blowing to me. Gorillas are such fascinating, gentle giants.Well, I guess that's about all I've got to say for now. Thanks for reading my essay all about my favorite furry, feathery, and scaly pals! Even though I'm just a kid, I feel so passionate about learning as much as I can about the animal kingdom. Animals bring me so much joy and fascination. From my silly dog Rufus to the mighty lions of Africa, I just can't get enough of Earth's wonderfully diverse wildlife. I hope you've enjoyed hearing about some of my top picks from the animal world. Stay curious, be kind to every creature great and small, and let's all do our part to protect this篇5My Awesome Summer VacationHey there! My name is Xiao Ming and I'm 10 years old. I just finished 4th grade and I'm super excited because summervacation is finally here! No more homework or tests for two whole months. Woohoo! My family and I went on an amazing trip this summer. We drove all the way from Chongqing to Beijing to visit my grandparents. The drive took forever - we were in the car for like three days! But it was still pretty fun.My little sister Mei Mei and I had a contest to see who could spot the most cows out the window. I won with 297 cows and Mei Mei only saw 183. She's so bad at finding cows. Just kidding Mei Mei, you're the best little sister ever! When we finally made it to my grandparents' house in Beijing, they gave us both huge hugs and kisses. My grandma's hugs are the absolute best. They always make me feel so loved and safe. Her body may be tiny, but her hugs are gigantic! Then my grandpa did his goofy dance that he always does when we come to visit. He shakes his hips and waves his arms around like a crazy person. It's hilarious! Mei Mei and I were cracking up so hard our bellies hurt. Grandpa says laughter keeps you young, so I'm sure he'll live to be 200 with all the laughter he spreads. My grandparents live in a teeny tiny apartment in the heart of Beijing. But they always make it feel so cozy and warm. Grandma fills it with fresh flowers, yummy home-cooked foods, and so much love. For dinner on our first night, Grandma made my favorite - zhajiangmian! Those thick, chewy noodles smothered in that rich, savory sauce...just thinking about it makes my mouth water. She knows it's my Number 1 most beloved food in the whole universe. After our amazing dinner, we all sat around the living room singing, telling jokes, and sharing stories long into the night. I love listening to my grandparents' stories about what life was like when they were young. Can you believe Grandpa used to have to walk 8 miles to school every day? I can't even imagine! The next morning, Grandma made us the most scrumptious breakfast - fresh hot soy milk, fluffy dough sticks, and warm sweet bread. She always gets up at the crack of dawn to make sure we start our day with a delicious home-cooked meal. I'm telling you, no one's cooking can compare to a Chinese grandma's!After breakfast, we all headed out to explore Beijing. We visited so many fascinating places - the Forbidden City,Tiananmen Square, the Summer Palace. I was amazed by all the ornate architecture, bright colors, and incredible history. It was like being transported back in time! One of the coolest things we did was fly a kite in Jingshan Park. There were kites of all shapes, sizes and colors soaring through the sky. It took a few tries, but I finally got mine up and sailing strong. The view from Jingshan Hill overlooking the Forbidden City was just breathtaking. After walking along the Great Wall and soaking in the incredible views, we had a picnic lunch that Grandma packed for us. Her cucumber salad, sausage eggs, and veggie buns tasted even better after our huge hike. Grandmas really do make the best food!On our final day in Beijing, we went to the Beijing Zoo to see the famous pandas. Oh my gosh, they are just the cutest, most adorable animals! I could have watched them munch on bamboo and tumble around all day. We also saw elephants, tigers, zebras and so many other awesome creatures. The zoo was definitely a highlight. After two wonderful weeks in Beijing, it was sadly time to head back home to Chongqing. I was really going to miss mygrandparents, but I also couldn't wait to tell all my friends about my amazing summer adventures. The drive home felt a lot quicker than the drive there. Probably because I slept a lot of the way - all that fresh air and hiking around Beijing really tired me out! When we finally made it back to Chongqing, it felt good to be home. But I'll always cherish the special memories I made with my family in Beijing.Well, that's the story of my awesome summer vacation! Between the sights, the experiences, the amazing food, and the quality time with my grandparents, it was truly an unforgettable trip. I have so many fond memories that will stick with me forever.I hope everyone else had an amazing summer too! I can't wait to hear all about my friends' summer adventures when school starts up again. Although I'm sad summer is over, I'm also really excited to start 5th grade. Bring it on!篇6My Big WorldHi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm 10 years old. I'm in 5th grade at Chongqing No. 3 Primary School. Today I'm goingto tell you all about my awesome life as a kid growing up in this big, beautiful city!First off, I love my family so much. My parents both work really hard - my dad is an engineer at a big factory and my mom is a nurse at the hospital downtown. Even though they are busy, we always have dinner together every night. My little sister Huihui is 6 and she's my best friend. We play games, watch cartoons, and get into all kinds of silly mischief around the house. Sometimes I have to share my toys but I don't mind too much. My grandparents live pretty close too so we get to see them a lot. Grandma always cooks the most delicious dumplings! I'm so lucky to have such a loving family.School keeps me really busy too. We have lots of homework and tests but I actually like studying. My favorite subjects are math and science because I'm curious about how things work. Recess is the best part of the day though - me and my friends love playing basketball and running around in the playground. I'm not very good at sports but I have fun anyway. Sometimes I get in trouble with my teachers for goofing off too much. Whoops! There's so much cool stuff to do in Chongqing for kids like me. The parks are awesome for hiking and having picnics. I'mkind of afraid of heights but the cable cars going across the rivers are a blast. My parents sometimes take me to museums on the weekends which seems boring at first but then I get really into learning about history and culture. I've also been to the zoo a bunch of times - the pandas and elephants are my favorite animals. For snacks, I go crazy over zhongshuijiao (spicy dumplings) from the street vendors. They're so yummy but pretty spicy! Ice cream is better for cooling off in the summer heat.Even though I'm just a kid, I feel like I have a huge world to explore right in my hometown. Chongqing is such a cool, modern city but it also has deep roots in the past going back thousands of years. I see that contrast of old and new everywhere - from the ancient arched bridges spanning the high-tech skyscrapers to the traditional tea houses right next to the newest shopping malls. It's a big, busy, fascinating place but I love the energy and how there's always something new to discover.Sometimes the noise, crowds, and smog get a bit overwhelming for a little guy like me. That's when I like to escape to the quieter parts of the city and countryside just outside of town. There are gorgeous karst hills, lakes, and lush forests thatmake you feel like you've traveled back in time. My grandparents grew up in one of those small rural villages and I have very peaceful memories of visiting their old home and playing in the fields. No matter where I go in Chongqing though, I'm struck by the incredible pride and resiliency of the people here. We've been through so much with wars, famine, and natural disasters but we always bounce back stronger than before. As I think about my future, I feel both excited and a little anxious. On one hand, I have this whole gigantic world ahead of me to explore beyond Chongqing. I want to see the Forbidden City in Beijing, the Great Wall, the beaches in Hainan - everything! Maybe I'll even get to travel to other countries someday. The possibilities seem endless and that gives me energy and drive to follow my dreams. At the same time, growing up is kind of scary too. Pretty soon I'll be a teenager and then an adult with heavy responsibilities. Will I do okay in middle school and high school? What job will I have? Where will I live? So many big choices coming my way!For now though, I'll soak in every moment of being a carefree kid in the place I was born and raised. Chongqing will always be my first, true love and home no matter how far I go or what I end up doing later. The sights, the sounds, the food, thepeople - this city is what shaped me and gave me my foundations. When I'm an old man looking back, I know my childhood memories here will be some of my most cherished. Us Chongqingers are a tough bunch - scrappy, determined, and deeply proud of our traditions even as we embrace the future. We truly live life in the fast lane, forging ahead with all。
