BIn recent years, we have seen a growing tendency for people to study online. Although I accept that e-learning has a few disadvantages, I hold to the view that it is an excellent way of studying. On the one hand, learning online seems to be less effective than traditional classroom. First, it is an evident fact that students may find it difficult to concentrate on the lessons without teacher’s presence, because there is a wide range of disturbing factors from the surrounding environment to the computer itself. Second, it is generally agreed that it is much more difficult for learners to absorb knowledge sometimes, due to the lack of direct instructions from teachers. This drawback gets blamed for contributing to the high dropout rate of e-learning.On the other hand, I would strongly argue that online studying is the most flexible and interesting way to gain knowledge. To begin with, learners are only required to spend 2 or 3 hours per day working on their online courses, so they can study whenever they are available, as long as they are capable of completing their assignments on time. Anotherbenefit is that e-learning creates a lot of interaction between students and their instructors or their peers. On an online course I have attended recently, for example, I have a weekly online meeting with my lecturers and classmates that allows me to discuss homework projects and have my questions answered clearly. This example illustrates how online learning can help students to learn better, as well as, provide teachers with effective tools to keep track of their students. In conclusion, there are convincing arguments both for and against studying online, but I believe that we should take its advantages into consideration to give it a try especially in this digital era.【文章大意】本文是议论文, 作者就网络学习的优点和缺点进行了两方面的论述, 认为在数字时代, 利用网络的优势进行网上学习还是值得一试。

核心素养测评九必修2Unit 4Wildlife protection(限时35分钟)Ⅰ. 阅读理解AMicroplastics are small plastic pieces that have accumulated in the marine(海洋的) environment following decades of pollution. These pieces can cause significant issues for marine creatures that ingest them, including inflammation(炎症), reduced feeding and weight-loss. Microplastic pollution may also spread from organism to organism when one creature is eaten by others. Since the pieces can be bound to chemical pollutants, these associated poisons could accumulate in predator species.Mesopelagic(海洋中层的) fish serve as a food source for a large variety of marine animals including swordfish, dolphins, seals and sea birds. Typically living at depths of 200—1, 000 meters, these fish swim to the surface to feed at night and then return to deeper water during the day. Through these upright movements, mesopelagic fish play a key role in the cycle of carbon and nutrients from the surface to the deep sea — aprocess known as biogeochemical cycle. This means they could spread microplastic pollution throughout the marine ecosystem, by carrying microplastics from the surface down to deeper water, affecting deep-sea organisms. To investigate this further, researchers set out to catch fish in a remote area of the northwest Atlantic Ocean. The researchers caught mesopelagic fish at varying depths, and then examined their stomachs for microplastics back in the lab. They used a particular air filter so as not to introduce plastic fibers in the air from the lab environment. The team found a lot of microplastics in the fish’s stomachs. As the researchers were extremely careful to clear the pollution— fibers in the air, they were confident that the fish had eaten the fibers in the sea all over the world. The researchers plan further studies to learn more about how these fish ingest and spread microplastics. It will be particularly interesting to see whether the fish eat these microplastics directly as mistaken foods, or whether they eat them through eating other species, which have previously eaten the microplastics.【文章大意】本文是一篇说明文。

核心素养测评六必修2Unit 1Cultural relics(限时35分钟)Ⅰ. 阅读理解AOne of the most famous archaeological discoveries in all of history is The Terracotta Army. They were found by farmers digging for a well on the outskirts of Xi’an in 1974. Becoming a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987, the spectacular figures continue to attract millions of visitors from all over the world. Yet the excavations(发掘) are unfinished.Famously, archaeological work at the site and the accompanying tomb of the First Qin Emperor has been allowed to slow down until technology advances enough to preserve the artefacts currently buried underground. In addition to this, safety concerns have been raised regarding the unusually high levels of mercury (水银)found on the soil. It is supposed that this is from the mercury streams which were inlaid in the floor of the burial chamber, but only time will tell if this ancient tale is true.Currently 8000 soldiers have been found, each one with a distinctively different look. This was achieved through an early use of assembly-line-type construction. The warriors were assembled with 8 different heads to choose from, and features being added with additional clay by skilled craftsmen.Studying the warriors and their horses offers historians an important insight into this period in Chinese history. The technology used to assemble the underground army was truly remarkable. Over 40, 000 bronze weapons were found, and after more than 2000 years they still appear sharp. How is this possible? The ancient Chinese managed to use protective chrome plating (镀铬), something which was thought to have been invented in Germany in 1937!When it is completely uncovered, the sight will truly be spectacular and much more will be understood about China’s first Emperor and the level of technology the ancient Chinese possessed.【文章大意】本文是说明文。

核心素养测评三十七选修8Unit 2Cloning(限时35分钟)Ⅰ. 阅读理解AAn exciting landing process of Chang’e-4 lunar probe (月球探测器) was seen through the monitor at Beijing Aerospace Control Center in Beijing, Jan. 3, 2019. It touched down on the far side of the moon at 10:26 a. m. Beijing Time, becoming the first spacecraft soft-landing on the moon’s unknown side never visible from Earth.China’s Chang’e-4 probe has started the exploration on the far side of the moon thanks to the relay satellite that provides a communication link with ground control. The relay satellite, named Queqiao, meaning Magpie Bridge, after a Chinese legend (传说), was launched on May 21, 2018, and became the first communication satellite operating in the Halo Orbit, nearly 500, 000 km from the earth. It can also provide communication for probes from other countries. The relay satellite will also be used for scientific and technological experiments. The maximum distance betwee n the satellite and the Chang’e-4 probe on the far side of the moon is 79, 000 km. The satellite processes data from the probe and sends it to Earth. The satellite can stay in its orbit for a long time due to its relatively low fuel consumption, as the e arth’s and moon’s gravity balances its orbital moving. While in orbit, it can “see” both the earth and the far side of the moon. The concept of using a relay satellite in the Halo Orbit was first put forward by U. S. space experts in the 1960s, but was realized by Chinese space engineers.Researchers hope to use the cameras on the satellite to record asteroids (小行星) hitting the far side of the moon. To control the cost of the Chang’e-4 probe, the relay satellite was designed to be relatively small, weighing about 400 kg.Researchers had just 30 months to develop the satellite, putting them under high pressure. To promote public interest in space exploration, the China National Space Administration invited people to write down their wishes for lunar and space exploration, and the relay satellite carries the names of tens of thousands of participants and their messages.【文章大意】这是一篇应用文。

核心素养测评二 必修1 Unit 2 English around the world(限时35分钟)Ⅰ. 阅读理解ASign has become a scientific hot button. Only in the past 20 years have specialists in language study realized that sign languages are unique—a speech of the hand. They offer a new way to know how the brain generates and understands language, and throw new light on an old scientific controversy(争议): whether language, complete with grammar, is something that we are born with, or whether it is a learned behavior. The present interest in sign language has roots in the pioneering work of one teacher at Gallaudet University in Washington, D. C. , the world’s only liberal arts university for deaf people. When Bill Stokoe went to Gallaudet to teach English, the school let him teach a course in signing. But Stokoe noticed something strange: among themselves, students signed differently from his classroom teacher. Stokoe had been taught a sort of gestural code, each movement of the hands representing a word in English. At the time, American Sign Language (ASL) was thought to be no more than a form of pidgin English (混杂英语). But Stokoe believed the “hand talk”his students used looked richer. He wondered: Might deaf people actually have a genuine language? And could that language be unlike any other on Earth? It was 1955. Stokoe’s idea was academic heresy (异端邪说). It is 37 years later. Stokoe—now devoting his time to writing and editing books and journals and to producing video materials on ASL and the deaf culture—is having lunch at a cafe near the Gallaudet campus and explaining how he started a revolution. For decades educators fought his idea that sign languages are natural languages like English, French and Japanese. They thought language must be based on speech, the modulation (调节) of sound. But sign language is based on the movement of hands, the modulation of space. “What I said, ” Stokoe explains, “is that language is not mouth stuff—it’s brain stuff. ”1. The study of sign language is thought to be ______.A. a new way to look at the learning of languageB. a challenge to traditional views on the nature of languageC. an approach to make the grammatical structure of a language simpleD. a try to clear misunderstanding about the use of language【解析】选B。

核心素养测评三十六选修8Unit 1 A land of diversity(限时35分钟)Ⅰ. 阅读理解AEvery country has certain cultural patterns making it unique. Of course, habits and customs between cultures and countries tend to overlap(重叠). The popularity of social media, for instance, ignores borders and breaks down cultural differences. Technology has made the world a much smaller and culturally similar place. However, when looking at a foreign country, we will always find differences between our traditions and theirs. Young Italians and young Americans, for example, though alike in many respects, have also some noticeable differences, especially when it comes to work, pastimes and sports. Most American teens have part-time jobs through high school and college. Youths in Italy tend not to. The reasons behind this are multifaceted. It is, to begin with, rather hard in Italy to find the type of part-time jobs students usually take up. Moreover, there is also a different cultural attitude to take into consideration, especially whenthinking of certain parts of Italy. Young Italians like to enjoy life to the full and feel there will be time to work once they become adults, therefore lacking interest in finding odd jobs while still in school. Like the old saying goes, some Italians work to live, while some Americans often live to work.In a lot of ways, young Italians and Americans spend their free time in a similar fashion. Listening to music, watching movies, hanging out, practicing sports and surfing the Internet are all common ways to pass some free time. Italians, especially, make a point of going out and being social, often choosing between pizzeria or birrerie (place for pizza or beer), which stays open late. Italians often pile into a couple of cars and go out in a big group. In general, American teens participate in a lot of extracurricular (课外的) activities, many often through school, while Italians may not take part in so many. When going out, Italian teens tend to meet and gather on the streets of their cities or towns, something not as common in the United States, especially in highly populated areas. This very Italian habit can be linked to the urban arrangement of Italian towns. Many of them date back thousands of years and feature central piazzas(广场) and areas built around historical sites that have now become gathering places for the young. If you’re in Italy, don’t be surprised by the sight of hundreds gathered in a piazza or on the street, laughing and drinking the nightaway.【文章大意】本文是一篇说明文。

核心素养测评七必修2Unit 2The Olympic Games(限时35分钟)Ⅰ. 阅读理解ABreakdancing is set to make its debut(首次亮相) as an Olympic sport at Paris 2024, Tony Estanguet, head of the Paris organizing committee, said on February 21. Skateboarding, sport climbing and surfing which have already been added to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, have been invited to return in Paris.Estanguet said the choices responded to a need to make the Olympics “more urban” and“more artistic”. “We have chosen to present the International Olympic Committee (IOC) with the four sports because they are creative, appealing to youth and completely in line with our vision. They reflect perfectly Paris 2024’s identity. ”Breakdancing is an example of a sport “which can be played anywhere and anytime in urban and other environments. ” It appeared at the 2018 Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires in the form of head-to-head “battles”. In competitive breakdancing, breakers face off in “battles”against each other, either as individuals or teams. Breakdancers use a mix of physical and artistic skills combining elements from gymnastics or acrobatics(杂技).The IOC had announced that the number of competitors at Paris 2024 would be restricted to 10, 500, which limited the opportunity to add sports. But the organizers said the inclusion would not necessitate the construction of permanent facilities and would involve just 248 competitors, including 32 breakdancers. The surfing events are likely to be held in established surf center such as Biarritz or Lacanau in southwest France. The inclusion still needs to be rubberstamped by the IOC, which is expected to decide on which sports to add in Paris after next year’s Tokyo Games.【文章大意】这是一篇新闻报道。

His father was also a novelist, who won the state award for literature in 1972. “He was my first professor of literature.
