参考范⽂⼀In some countries, high-speed rail is welcomed by many people because it can carry passengers between cities within a shorter period of time. Some think the government should allocate a large sum of money into such railway lines, while others believe that the money should go to existing public transport.Supporters of building high-speed rail argue that new railway lines can help save commuting time despite the massive investment. With urban areas expanding further, more people may live in suburbs or even live in neighboring cities, and this means a new railway line between cities is especially important for those who need to travel to and from city centre for work. If there were not such high-speed rail, it is impossible for many people living in rural areas to commute in and out of the city every day. Therefore, a significant investment in the construction of high-speed railway lines is justified. However, there are also some opponents against such investment, myself included, and they think the funds should go to existing public transport. One major reason is lhat high-speed trains are expensive and the same amount of funds can be used to improve most of the current transport, including buses and underground trains. These are still the main transport by which thousands of people use every day. Another possible reason is related to the demand. It is reported that there are still a large percentage ofpeople living in cities and a new railway line outside of the town can only serve a small percentage of people. This means the investment is not a sensible decision. Ultimately there would be not enough funds to run the new railway system. In conclusion, I believe that although there are benefits to some people living outside of the city if high-speed trains are developed, the number of rural population is still relatively low and existing public transport is still the main choice for most of population and should therefore be the priority of the investment.

Write about the following topic:Some people think that parents should teach children how to be good members of society.Others, however, believe that school is the place to learn this.Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.Write at least 250 words.2. In today’s society, many people hold the view that it is duty for parents that they should teach children about the ways to fit in society. In others’view, schools should take the response to teach youngsters. As far as I am concerned, both parents and schools should educate pupils to be good members of society. It is obvious that youngsters accompany by their parents takes up the majority of time during the period of education stage. So comparing with other less time-consuming activities, the influence of this event to children should be more essential. People can realize this fact by the example of classmates of theirchildren. They all in the same class but the appearance towards society is slightly different from one to others. The cause to this is appearantly by their parents. As to my experience, some classmates in my class tend to be more outgoing and sociable than others when participate in some out-door activities, such as attending festival show or giving a public speech. In most cases, it appears that the more educated parents often influence their children more effectively and teach them a widen acknowledge towards society. It seems to me that in this way, could some of my classmates do better when enter society. Some other people, however, hold the view that schools should give the method to children about how to be a good member of society. In their points, schools are educating people so it is also their duty to teach people about the ways to be good member to society. To my point, the education by schools is a necessary way all of the people when they were young. However, I am of the opinion that this is a matter to be debated in the light of several factors before any conclusion can be drawn. It is generally believed that parents should guide the children how to deal with the society. This is mainly because children will obey the words of parents rather than the teachers. In many books, we can see that parents are the first teachers. Parents should teach basic qualities like respect, obedience, honesty. Parents should teach those qualities at an early age so that their children can imbibe these qualities into them. For instance, my uncle’s daughter is just studying 5th class, but she respects the elderly people. Since their parents taught her the qualities which she must inculcate in her.The education starts at home and the things learned from early childhood become part of someone's personality and characteristics. Hence, the things kids learn from their parents have a lasting impression on people. So parents should be careful about teaching their kids the moral values and responsibilities to the society. Children by nature mimic their family members and thus parents can teach their kids how to be good members of the society by performing their duties correctly. Most children obey their parents more than anyone else and the instructions the parents give thus have better chances to be obeyed by children. Not all parents can spend sufficient time with children because of their ever increasing business outside of homes and for those students teachers play an important role. Some students listen to the teachers they like and follow their instructions like written laws. Thus teachers can contribute towards teaching the morality and responsibilities to the children. On the other hand, there are certain groups of people who vehemently contend that school is the right place to learn how to be good members of the society. One of the reasons why this view is held is that nowadays children are not having sufficient time to spend with their parents because both of the parents might be employed or they may keep their child in a hostel. In school children will learn the education. The school must also include these qualities as a part of course structure so that the child may follow them. Thus, it is evident from all discussion that, both the arguments carry equal strength and significance and neither can be refuted outright. I personally subscribe to the proposition that, school is the right place to learn how to be good members of the society.。

There is an issue of what are the purposes of the places like museums. Some people suggest that the government should invest a small amount of money, others think the museum is a financial burden to society. What is your opinion? And how should they be funded?
Currently a growing number of governments are investing some money in museums. Some people believe this will benefit the whole society while others maintain that the government should tighten its budget and spend the money on more important things. T o my mind, the former view does make sense. We can hardly lose sight of the fact that every country prides itself on the glory of its own history. Undoubtedly, the museum, which usually boasts a collection of objects of artistic and historical value, plays a vital role in recording a country’s history. By visiting museums, we can not only learn about our history and civilization, but gradually cultivate a sense of social responsibility, which normally stems from a clear understanding of mankind’s history. For instance, if young people come to know what their ancestors have contributed to the development of their country, they will be inspired to dedicate themselves to the economic well-being of society. Moreover, in the museum, they will also learn something that can not be acquired from books. In addition, revelling in nostalgic memories is likely to be a sort of great enjoyment and relaxation. Therefore, it will be beneficial to the whole society if the government takes the lead in funding museums. However, we have to admit that some countries, especially poor ones, may have difficulty spending a large sum of money in this respect, but they are able to organize fundraising activities so that wealthy members of society can donate money to public facilities such as museums. As far as I know, this is common practice in many countries. In the final analysis, it is quite clear that museums are treasure troves of mankind. The government, as well as the individuals, should endeavour to provide enough funds for them to be on the right track. We can hardly lose sight of the fact that…, boast a collection of objects of artistic and historical value, reveling in nostalgic memories, is likely to be…

Nowadays, there are lots of advertisements on television or on the streets. Some people think that the advertising boosts the sales of goods and it encourages people to buy things unnecessarily. This arguments may be true. In my country, many advertising companies produce advertisements with famous and popular actors or singers. People, especially youngsters, buy goods that their favourite singer advertise, although they do not really need the products. Also, on the television screen, a product may look gorgeous and good quality. As a result of it, people often buy goods without enough consideration. Consumers may not actually need it but they buy goods impulsively soon after they watch the advertising. Furthermore, as many customers buy a particular product due to its advertising campaign, the other people may be affected by the trend, even if the product is not of the real needs of the society. On the other hand, there are various aspects against these arguments. Moreover, it is people's choice to make a decision to buy goods. Advertising may be not a cause of customers' buying habits. Individuals have their own spending habits. If they have got enough disposable income, then the right to make a decision is given to them. No one actually can judge whether the goods sold are the real needs of the society or not.In addition, as there should be a limited amount of disposable income consumers are able to spend, people try to allocate their budgets. They cannot be simply swayed by those advertisements. In conclusion, as customers have their own strong opinions andstandard of good quality goods, it is better to leave them to make their own decision in buy goods. It is fairly difficult to say everyone is swayed by advertising and buy good impulsively. However, in sensitive area of businesses such as toy industries, it may be necessary to band advertising to those children as children have not got enough ability to control themselves or to know what they need.

In many countries, young people are often seen as the driving force of the economy. Therefore, policies to increase birth rates are generally encouraged. But there are also a variety of potential social problems arising if the younger population keeps rising and exceeds the number that a country is able to sustain. It is true that a relatively large number of young adults may pose a threat to economic growth. The overcrowding of younger population inevitably leads to intense competition in the job market, and this would be followed by rising unemployment rate. Over the past few decades some developing countries like China adopted one-child policy in an effort to balance the population, and this effectively alleviated the pressure on the job market. If there were no such policy, there would be many unemployed young people, causing much pressure on economic growth. However, the advantages of having a larger younger population are also evident. In some countries, economic development is stifled due to lack of human resources, e.g. Singapore. Here the country has more than adequate job opportunities and resources and in fact must get much of its labour force from abroad. To solve this problem and hence invest in its own economy, Singapore is introducing polices to attract a much larger youthful population. Without the youthful population, the country would struggle to see economic development. In conclusion, I think that the large younger population can bring more advantages than disadvantages; however, it must be understood that too much of an imbalance can lead to difficulties in the future.
Simon(翻转课堂)雅思大作文task2教程文件

Simon(翻转课堂)雅思大作文task2教程文件Some people regard video games as harmless fun, or even as a useful educational tool. Others, however, believe that videos games are having an adverse effect on the people who play them. In your opinion, do the drawbacks of video games outweigh the benefits? Many people, and children in particular, enjoy playing computer games. While I accept that these games can sometimes have a positive effecton the user, I believe that they are more likely to have a harmful impact. On the one hand, video games can be both entertaining and educational. Users, or gamers, are transported into virtual worlds which are often more exciting and engaging than real-life pastimes. From an educational perspective, these games encourage imagination and creativity, as well as concentration, logical thinking and problem solving, all of which are useful skills outside the gaming context. Furthermore, it has been shown that computer simulati on games can improve users’ motor skills and help to prepare them for real-world tasks, such as flying a plane. However, I would argue that these benefits are outweighed by the drawbacks. Gaming can be highly addictive because users are constantly given scores, new targets and frequent rewards to keep them playing. Many children now spend hours each day trying to progress through the levels of a game or to get a higher score than their friends. This type of addiction can have effects ranging from lack of sleep to problems at school, when homework is sacrificed for a few more hours on the computer or console. The rise in obesity in recent years has also been linkedin part to the sedentary lifestyle and lack of exercise that often accompany gaming addiction. In conclusion, it seems to me that the potential dangers of video games are more significant than the possible benefits. In the developed world, average life expectancy is increasing. What problems will this cause for individuals and society? Suggest some measures that could be taken to reduce the impact of ageing populations. It is true that people in industrialised nations can expect to live longer than ever before. Although there will undoubtedly be some negative consequences of this trend, societies can take steps to mitigate these potential problems. As people live longer and the populations of developed countries grow older, several related problems can be anticipated. The main issue is that there will obviously be more people of retirement age who will be eligible to receive a pension. The proportion of younger, working adults will be smaller, and governments will therefore receive less money in taxes in relation to the size of the population. In other words, an ageing population will mean a greater tax burden for working adults. Further pressures will include a rise in the demand for healthcare, and the fact young adults will increasingly have to look after their elderly relatives. There are several actions that governments could take to solve the problems described above. Firstly, a simple solution would be to increase the retirement age for working adults, perhaps from 65 to 70. Nowadays, people of this age tend to be healthy enough to continue a productive working life.A second measure would be for governments to encourage immigration in order to increase the number of working adultswho pay taxes. Finally, money from national budgets will need to be taken from other areas and spent on vital healthcare, accommodation and transport facilities for the rising numbers of older citizens. In conclusion, various measures can be taken to tackle the problems that are certain to arise as the populations of countries grow older.(265 words, band 9)Nowadays animal experiments are widely used to develop new medicines and to test the safety of other products. Some people argue that these experiments should be banned because it is morally wrong to cause animals to suffer, while others are in favour of them because of their benefits to humanity. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. It is true that medicines and other products are routinely tested on animals before they are cleared for human use. While I tend towards the viewpoint that animal testing is morally wrong, I would have to support a limited amount of animal experimentation for the development of medicines. On the one hand, there are clear ethical arguments against animal experimentation. T o use a common example of this practice, laboratory mice may be given an illness so that the effectiveness of a new drug can be measured. Opponents of such research argue that humans have no right to subject animals to this kind of trauma, and that the lives of all creatures should be respected. They believe that the benefits to humans do not justify the suffering caused, and that scientists should use alternative methods of research. On the other hand, reliable alternatives to animal experimentation may not always be available. Supporters of theuse of animals in medical research believe that a certain amount of suffering on the part of mice or rats can be justified if human lives are saved. They argue that opponents of such research might feel differently if a member of their own families needed a medical treatment that had been developed through the use of animal experimentation. Personally, I agree with the banning of animal testing for non-medical products, but I feel that it may be a necessary evil where new drugs and medical procedures are concerned. In conclusion, it seems to me that it would be wrong to ban testing on animals for vital medical research until equally effective alternatives have been developed. (270 words, band 9) Foreign visitors should pay more than local visitors for cultural and historical attractions. To what extent do you agree or disagree with thisopinion? It is sometimes argued that tourists from overseas should be charged more than local residents to visit important sites and monuments. I completely disagree with this idea. The argument in favour of higher prices for foreign tourists would be that cultural or historical attractions often depend on state subsidies to keep them going, which means that the resident population already pays money to these sites through the tax system. However, I believe this to be a very shortsighted view. Foreign tourists contribute to the economy of the host country with the money they spend on a wide range of goods and services, including food, souvenirs, accommodation and travel. The governments and inhabitants of every country should be happy to subsidise important tourist sites and encourage people from the rest of the world to visit them.If travellers realised that they would have to pay more to visit historical and cultural attractions in a particular nation, they would perhaps decide not to go to that country on holiday. To take the UK as an example, the tourism industry and many related jobs rely on visitors coming to the country to see places like Windsor Castle or Saint Paul’s Cathedral. These two sites charg e the same price regardless of nationality, and this helps to promote the nation’s cultural heritage. If overseas tourists stopped coming due to higher prices, there would be a risk of insufficient f unding for the maintenance of these important buildings. In conclusion, I believe that every effort should be made to attract tourists from overseas, and it would be counterproductive to make them pay more than local residents.(269 words, band 9)Posted by SimonSome people think that strict punishments for driving offences are the key to reducing traffic accidents. Others, however, believe that other measures would be more effective in improving road safety. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
