Therefore, I beieve that we shoud never give up.One reason is that if we give up too easiy, we wi rarey achieveanything. It is not unusua for us to fai in our first attempt at somethingnew, so we shoud not fee discouraged and shoud try again. Besides, ifweaways give up when we fai, we wi not be abe to deveop new skis and growas peope. Another reason we shoud never give up is that we can earn from ourmistakes ony if we make a new effort. If we do not try again, the esson wehave earned is wasted. Finay, we shoud never give up because as we work toreach our goas, we deveop confidence, and this confidence can hep us succeedin other areas of our ives. But sady, today, anguages are dying at an unprecedented rate. Aanguage dies every 14 days. Now, at the same time, Engish is the undisputedgoba anguage. Coud there be a connection? We I dont know. But I do knowthat Ive seen a ot of changes. When I first came out to the Guf, I came toKuwait in the days when it was sti a hardship post. Actuay, not that ongago. That is a itte bit too eary. But nevertheess,I was recruited by theBritish Counci aong with about25 other teachers. And we were the firstnon-Musims to teach in the state schoos there in Kuwait. We were brought toteach Engish because the government wantedto modernize the country andempower the citizens through education.
