The best part was that we got to eat the food we prepared with ingredients straight from their little farm.Aside from the farm work, my grandparents also taught me lots of other cool stuff on their vacation. Grandpa showed me how to fish in the little stream behind their house. We would wake up early before sunrise, trudge down to the stream through the tall grass, and wait patiently for the fish to start biting. It took a lot of practice but eventually I got good at it and even caught a couple big ones!My grandma was really good at traditional Chinese arts and crafts. She taught me how to do calligraphy using a bamboo brush and ink stone. It was so hard to get the brush strokes just right, but she was a great teacher and I didn't get too frustrated. By the end of our stay, I had made my own handwritten scrolls with cool sayings and poems on them.Grandma also showed me the traditional embroidery skills her mother had taught her. We spent several days working together on an embroidered wall-hanging with beautiful flowers and birds stitched into the fabric. It took a lot of concentration and patience, but I was really proud of how my section of the wall-hanging turned out in the end.When we weren't busy with farm chores, fishing, calligraphy or embroidery, there was still plenty to keep me entertained on my grandparent's vacation. I spent hours exploring the open fields, forests and streams around their little village. I went on long walks with my grandpa and he taught me all about the different plants, trees and animals we saw. I caught cool bugs like praying mantis and watched baby bunnies hopping around.Some days we would go on mini hiking adventures up into the mountains near their village. The scenery was just breathtaking up there! We packed simple lunches of rice balls and veggies and ate them while enjoying the incredible views from the mountain tops. I had never seen views like that living in the crowded city.On a couple of the nights during our stay, my grandparents' village hosted outdoor activities that were a blast. One night there was a traditional Chinese opera performed in the townsquare that was really interesting and colorful, with such ornate costumes and music. Another night they had folk dancing where all the villagers participated, with a live band playing. I even got out there and tried a couple of the simpler dances which was so much fun.Towards the end of our visit, there was a village festival that celebrated the summer harvest season. My grandparents' village went all-out for this thing! There were booths set up selling tasty snacks and playing games to win prizes. There was also live entertainment like acrobats and a Chinese yo-yo performer who could do amazing tricks. The best part was the Dragon Dance performed by dozens of villagers carrying this huge, elaborate dragon costume while music played. It was so cool to watch!On our final night in the village, the entire community gathered for。
