2、教学设计在本节课程中主要围绕着阅读、语篇解析以及升华思想等三个方面展开设计。
3、教学目标（1）知识目标掌握本节课程讲解的生词、语法；能够准确地运用生词、语法。
（2）能力目标在阅读和学习后能够对课文内容进行复述；形成较强的阅读能力。
4、教学过程（1）以课件导入新课首先，保证课堂教学的有效性离不开新课导入环节的合理设计，因此，结合初中学生的实际学习特点，选择运用多媒体设备播放一段NBA比赛的视频引导学生观看，并且提问：“What sports do they play in the video?What do you know about this sport?”以此来引导学生进行分析和讨论。
设计意图：激发学生的讨论欲望，由学生感兴趣的篮球运动来营造出一个和谐、轻松的教学氛围，为学生顺利展开接下来的学习活动奠定下良好的基础。
引导学生阅读课文，分析在课文中是怎样描述篮球运动的，课文中为我们讲述了一个怎样的故事？以此来促使学生带着对篮球运动的热情积极地投入到阅读活动当中。

本节课紧扣本单元的话题invention，文章主要介绍篮球的发展以及其发展历程，这一主题包括篮球运动的历史，篮球比赛的规则以及篮球流行趋势等。
本课围绕篮球让学生掌握本文大意及文中所含的语言知识，并渗透热爱运动，珍惜生命的德育理念；以及树立远大目标，不轻言放弃等意志品质。
通过本课的阅读教学，让学生掌握用mind-mapping学习策略学会信息与图像的转换；阅读技巧方面培养学生抓住关键词，找出中心句，划分段落层次，学会写出总结，提升学生综合技能。
本节课的语法为一般过去式的被动语态，这是初中阶段重要的语法之一。
文中出现了大量的被动语态的句子，通过阅读文章，学生能进一步理解感悟被动语态的用法。
学情分析：对于九年级的学生来说，他们已经具备了一定基础的英语听说技能，具备一定的语言自主学习能力，能通过教师创设的情境，迅速运用词汇。
对于动词的过去分词形式，学生也并不陌生，并且基本掌握了被动语态的用法。
因此，本篇阅读中出现的多处被动语态句子，对于学生来说，已经不是障碍。
但用mind map来复述课文的信息，对学生来说应该是一大难点。
本课时话题是谈论篮球这一发明的历史，贴近学生的生活，学生渴望了解其发明和发展的过程，这也降低了学习新知识的难度，提高了学生学习的兴趣。
教学目标：知识目标：1.掌握重点词汇和短语：2.学生能够在语篇中掌握思维导图，并借助思维导图捕捉语篇中的关键信息。

由于生词量较大，在阅读过程中，学生们完全理解课文方面会有一定的困难。
针对上述情况，本课在设计时先以录像导入的形式，增加学生对文章有关的感性知识；然后采用略读的方法，培养学生阅读整体观念；在随后的细节处理时，采取寻读、细节理解、回答问题等方法；整个教学过程的设计由浅入深，由感悟、理解、分析、归纳、总结到运用，从而完成从阅读输入到理解输出的学习过程，达到培养学生阅读能力的目标。
