八州文化常识
中国古代八州是指冀州、兖州、青州、徐州、扬州、荆州、雍州和豫州。
1、冀州：今山西省和河北省的西部和北部，还有太行山南的河南省一部分。
2、兖州：今河北省东南部、山东省西北部和河南省的东北部。
3、青州：东至海而西至泰山，在今山东的东部一带。
4、徐州：今山东省东南部和江苏省的北部。
5、扬州：北起淮水，东南到海滨，在今江苏和安徽两省淮水以南，兼有浙江、江西两省的土地。
与八州相比，“九州”多了一个梁州。
“九州”是中国的别称之一。
古代中国人将全国划分为九个区域，即所谓的“九州”。
根据《尚书·禹贡》的记载，九州分别是：冀州、兖州、青州、徐州、扬州、荆州、梁州、雍州和豫州。

中国九州及三十六郡一：冀州：起自黄河壶口，涉及今山西，河北、河南等省部分地区，地为白壤。

三：青州，起自渤海、泰山，涉及河北、山东半岛，地为肥沃白壤。

五：扬州，起自淮河、黄海，涉及江苏、安徽、江西及其以南的地方，地为潮湿泥土。

《尚书》中有一篇《禹贡》，记述了大禹划分九州的传说。
九州是冀州、兖州、青州、徐州、扬州、荆州、豫州、梁州、雍州；各州的山川方位和走向、土壤性质、物产分布，贡赋的等级和物品等情况，以及进贡经行的路线，也都有记载。
这是禹在治水过程中，建树的又一件伟大业绩。
九州是中国最早的行政区划，无论其可信程度如何，人们总是习惯把中国称为九州。
因为是大禹划分九州，故古代人又常把中国称为禹域。
然后又根据九州土壤的性质，分为“壤”、“黄壤”、“白壤”“赤植坟”、“白坟”、“黑坟”。
“坟垆”、“涂泥”及“青黎”等九种。
并依据各种土壤的肥力不同，又分为三等九级。
根据肥力的等级，安排农业生产，制定适当的田赋。
当时称为“贡”，即土地税。
因田赋是国家收入的大宗，同时为了要使“贡”的负担合理，在辨别九州各类土壤肥力等的基础上，还注意到当时土壤的实际使用状况，实际收入的多寡以及交通条件，来制订田赋的等级。
