雅思口语part2话题高分范文秀:你喜欢的运动雅思口语范文:你喜欢的一项娱乐活动Describe a type of entertainment you likeThe entertainment I would like to see is a Broadway play, like those famous ones from New York. Ive heard that The Phantom of the Opera is a famous one that is well worth seeing. Well, I guess I might need to go all the way to America to see one, but I have a feeling that there will one day be a grand performance in Beijing. Why not? You dont need that much English to be able to enjoy it, and Beijing certainly has the facilities. Perhaps it will come soon. The basic features of these plays are incredible voices-I mean to sing like they do is not easy, and I know many famous signers and actors from America have tried but failed. Also they need to be graceful in their actions and decent at acting. These kinds of plays are usually visually very stunning, I mean a lot goes into making the setting wonderful. I heard for example that in The Phantom of the Opera there is a giant chandelier that comes crashing onto the stage, but that it is actually just a technical stunt. I think the reason I would like to see this is because I prefer seeing acting live and on stage. Also, I love singing, and I think if I were to see such a play it would stick in my mind for quite some time.

Describe a good parent you know(好的父母)Describe a good parent you knowYou should say:Who the parent isHow you know the parentWhat the parent looks likeAnd explain why you think the parent is good1.适用人群:全适用2.主题:史密斯夫妇3.故事线:史密斯夫妇,好莱坞最受欢迎的两位家长。

Parents are the most important people in any ones life and my parents are the most important for me. But, I think when it comes to talking of people I know and believe they are truly good parents, I think the names that comes to my mind is that of Will Smith and Jaden Smith. These are the two most popular parents of the Hollywood industry and have raised some beautiful kids.Sadly, I have never been able to meet them in real life but I haveseen enough of their interviews with others and sometimes with their children, explaining how they raise their kids and the kind of values they imbibe in them. The reason I think they are great parents because they did taught their children things which I think everyone should teach their kids. One of them is experiment. They have asked their kids to experiment with their passions and the other things that they love. In a particular interview, Jaden talks to her child and says that it is very important for you to love yourself because it is only when you love yourself that you can go about and fall in love with someone else and that is how the world falls in love with you.In one interview, Will Smith talks of how for you to be able to create a wall it is very important for you to be able to put that one brick perfectly and that is how life is lived. I think these are some great lessons that are taught and the way they live, I believe they are truly great parents.I believe to be a good parent requires you to be great individuals first. Because a child often learn more by what he or she sees than what he or she is told to do. Apart from that the one thing which I believe truly separates normal parents from the great parents, is the trust they have on their child and his or her potential. It surely takes lot of love and more important trust ones own upbringing to be able to trust the childcompletely.I believe it is only when a child is trusted and told that he or she is trusted that the true nature of the child evolves.雅思口语话题part2范文:亲友聚会处(a place you often visit with your friends or family)Describe a place where you often visit with your friends or familyYou should say:Where the place isHow you know the placeHow you go thereWhy you want to visitToday, I’m going to share with you a place where I usually/often go to relax/read and write/ hang out with my friends, which is a small café/restaurant near my company/my house named “ABC”As a full-time employee/student, I have to go to work/ school 5 days a week; therefore, the only time that I can visit this place is on weekends.I always try to make time for my little trip to “ABC” café every Saturday or Sunday. The coffee house is located on a quiet street with a lot of trees planted on both sides. Additionally, it has a patio with hanging gardens which I like very much; it makes me feel like I‟m sitting in a garden of my own.Separated from the hustle and bustle of the city life in Hanoi, this place allows me to sit quietly and reflect, relaxing after a week of hard work. 雅思口语Part2话题范文:an interesting talk or speechYou should say:When you heard itWhere you heard itWhat it was aboutAnd explain why you think it was interesting.参考范文:Lately I have attended a speech on “how to start a successful conversation” given by a communication expert in the Grand Hall of our school.A lady gave that speech. She actually made a living by talkingto various people. She was a psychiatrist and it was her job to help people with mental problems live like a normal human being through talking. And by her own words, she was a success. She started her speech by denying the practicality and accuracy of the so- called golden rules of starting a conversation, and even went so far as to call them “crap”. One rule within the golden rules was chosen to explain why so. The rule was “To show you are paying attention, look into the eyes of the speaker, nod from time to time and ask occasionally some simple questions to sustain the conversation.” On this she said, if you were truly paying attention to the conversation and the speaker, you didnt even need to learn how to pay attention. If you had to learn how to pay attention, you were actually trying to get out of a conversation. Then she gave some simple rules of how to have a successful conversation, one of which was to ask open questions. She named the questions that could be answered with simply yes or no or one noun or one verb the “Conversation terminators”. I had never heard this before. But after a thought, she was right. I mean, when I ask you “Do you like dogs?” You might answer like “Yes, I love dogs”. And that is it. Suppose the one who answers doesnt want to share more about why or what dogs he likes, the conversation will end. So such questions can’t be good. Instead, we should use more often open questions like “What was like to have a dog?” “When do you think is the best age to have dog?” “Where do you think it better to have dogs, a city or a village?” Basically these questions enabledpeople to think, according to her. And it was these thinking that could finally deepen the conversation and make it longer. She was an aggressive one I had to say, and you dont have to agree with what she said. But it was worth listening to.雅思口语Part2话题范文:Describe your favorite songYou should say:– What is the song about?– When did you first hear the song?– Why is it your favorite?参考范文:Honestly speaking, for the most part, I would probably say that I have a great passion for listening to music and indeed I have listened like thousands of songs so far. However, if I have to pick out a song that I like the most, I would probably choose the song Million Years Ago by Adele. By gorgeous lyrics and melody, it’s like a piece of cake for Adele to make me addicted to this song. A significant feature that I should mention is the song’s meaningful content. It is a regretful calling inside an adult who has born his soul on the way of growing up and earning his stripes. Every now andthen I feel he is so desperate that he could do anything to escape the cycle of his life but after all he can’t afford to do so. The reason why I am so fond of this song has something to do with the fact that it provokes so many beautiful memories from my childhood. Although this song is a sad song, it opens my eyes to many things in life, one of them is that you should not take anything for granted, even the simplest one, try to live to your fullest so that one day you would not have to regret that much about the journey that you have been through. Fairly speaking, Million Years Ago is a really good songs for self – reflecting especially when you find yourself lost in the super busy world nowadays.雅思口语Part2话题范文:a time you spent with a childYou should say:who the child ishow you know him/herwhy you spent time with him/herand explain what you did when you were together高分参考:Just last week I spent some time with a child, in fact, it was my best friend’s son, Peter. He’s seven years old now and we spent some time together when his parents had to go to an appointment. It was basically a babysitting mission, a favor for my friend. I took my boyfriend with me for some help, and we both looked after Peter for the afternoon. We went to my friend’s house and spent some time there catching up with each other before they had to leave. Then we took my friend’s son out to a park nearby where they live. He was really excited about going out. Apparently he loves going to this park with his parents so we thought it would be a good idea if we took him so that he wouldn’t miss his parents so much while they were away.Anyway, we spent ages playing on the swings and climbing and just having fun, and he loved playing rough with my boyfriend, they were tumbling and rolling all over the place having a great time. I’m really happy that my boyfriend loves kids like this and is really interested in enjoying time with them.Watching him play with Peter was just like watching two kids playing together, I think he enjoyed the time in the park as much as little Peter did to be honest, maybe even more. My boyfriend。

雅思口语part2话题高分篇五Describe a visitor in your homeYou should say:Who was this visitorWhen did he/she visit your homeWhy did he/she come to visitAnd explain whether you like him/her or not雅思口语8分范文:I’m going to talk about an occasion when a very close friend of mine visited where I live.He is a Chinese person. His real name is Xin Lin, but we usuallycall him by his English name, which is Steven. He was studying in the same university with me in England when we did our Master’s last year, and we both lived in the same flat in the university halls of residence. We were so close with each other because we spent a lot of time cooking and talking with each other, but we have n’t met for a few months since we left England. So the occasion was a month ago when he visited Vietnam to travel. He had never been to my country although China is right next to Vietnam. So, he decided to come to my country to visit me.We were really excited to meet each other again, and he was excited as well to come to my house for the first time. I invited him for dinner, and I myself cooked something very special for him, which was a traditional Vietnamese dish. We talked a lot during the meal, and we reminded each other of the memories we shared in England.I was very happy when Steven came to see me. The reason is because we had not had a chance to see each other for a long time, and you know, it always feels good seeing an old friend. The occasion brought back a lot of good memories that I think I can never forget. PART 3题目及参考答案1. In your country, how do people treat visitors?I think people in my country are generally very hospitable, and they are usually very welcoming when having visitors. They would usually be willing to invite visitors to have dinner, especially if the person is a close friend or a relative.2. Do you think hospitality is less important than it was in the past?I do not think so. I believe it has always been important for people to be friendly and welcoming to people visiting their houses. It is even more crucial to behave properly with visitors coming from other countries such as tourists, because the way local people treat tourists can have a great effect on the image of a country. So, I think hospitality is as important today as it was in the past.3. What are the benefits of staying with a friend when visiting a new place?Well, the biggest advantage is that you can save money when staying in a friend’s house. This is because it is usually expensive when staying in hotels. Another benefit is that when you stay with your friend when coming to a new place, your journey is likely to be more interesting and enjoyable. If you stay alone, you might get bored and lonely.4. What are the advantages of staying in a hotel instead? It would be more convenient to stay in a hotel, I guess. Hotels are usually located close to the main tourist attractions of a city, so it will be less time-consuming if travellers choose a hotel. Also, you can receive good services from the hotel. For example, you can have free breakfast ready in the morning, while you will need to spend time cooking when you stay with a friend.雅思口语话题part2高分范文之城市角落(a place in your city you want to go to)Describe a place in your city you want to go toYou should say:What is this placeWhere is this placeWhy you like this placeAnd explain what do you want to do there1-4月雅思口语新题part2范文之:城市角落(a place in your city youwant to go to)There are lots of places I like to go, depending on my mood. Today ‘though, I’m going to tell you about a special place near to where I live. I will explain where it is and how I get there. I will try and describe what it looks like and explain why I like the location so much.I am lucky, although I live in a city, from my house I can walk to the edges of the Peak District, which is a beautiful national park just a few miles from the city centre. To get to the national park I have to walk from my house down some local roads, and up a steep hill past some allotments. After about a mile or so striding out away from the urban areas, I get to a lovely bit of woodland which has a public footpath you can follow on wards and upwards. It can be a bit of a scramble towards the end of the path as it is very steep indeed, but eventually, you leave the woodland and are on the edge of open farmland. Another footpath crosses some sheep-filled fields, and finally, you are on the moors of the Peak District. It is really spectacular. The Peak District can be a really wild place, with its vast expanses of open moorland. You are high up, and it is quite exposed so it can be very windy and cold even in the summer. There are rocky outcrops and strange configurations of stones that have been weathered by centuries of wind and rain to create dramatic shapes. Some boulders are in piles, and there are steep vertical cliffs too. The area attracts lots of people who like walking, climbing and bouldering because of its unique and beautiful landscape. Everywhere is dark wet peat underfoot and lots of heathers. This is a low growing plant that flowers at the end of the summer turning the wholelandscape purple. The park covers a huge area, I think around 555 square miles, so the terrain differs from area to area, of course, I am biased, but I believe I live near the most remarkably beautiful part.I love this place, because if ever I am feeling down, or a bit enclosed, in just an hours walk I can find myself in a deserted but picturesque place, where the elements are more extreme. In winterrain and wind can batter you, but in summer the sky seems to go on forever. Every day is different up there, and every hour of every day too. The area is so huge, that often you can have it all to yourself, of course, there are other walkers about, but you can quickly disappear in the vastness of the space. The people who live in Sheffield, like me, are very proud that we are so near to the Peak District National Park, and it is no surprise it became the United Kingdom's first national park on 17 April 1951. A birthday that should be celebrated I think!PART 31. For example, you can have free breakfast ready in the morning, while you will need to spend time cooking when you stay with a friend.雅思口语话题part2高分范文之:喜欢的季节(your favorite season) Describe your favorite season of the yearYou should say:How is the weather likeWhy do you like this seasonWhat activities do you usually do during itHow would different kinds of weather affect people1-4月雅思口语新题part2范文之:喜欢的季节(your favorite seasonof the year)My favorite season in Canada is summer. The real summer in Canada lasts only two months, July and August. During these two months, thetemperature climbs above 20 and it's always sunny. The trees become green again and the whole city is full of various flowers. Day timeis longer and night time is shorter. Most time we have sunlight until 10 in the evening. The reason that I like summer is because summer time is the best season for outdoor activities. I love hiking, jogging, and biking. I can go to national parks or city parks easily in summer. Summer gives me so much fun.Just like what I've said, I love hiking, jogging, and biking in summer. I still remember I went to different national parks last summer for hiking. I saw beautiful lakes and mountains. I even encountered a bear looking for food, which was pretty amazing experience.Weather may affect people' choice of activities. It's warm outside in summer, so more people will choose outdoor activities. We always have more music festivals or food festivals in summer. Winter is super cold in Canada. People would like to stay home instead of going outside.雅思口语话题part2精选高分篇六Describe a person that you want to know more aboutWho is he or she? When did you meet this person?Where have you met? What did you do?Why do you want to know more about him or her?雅思口语part2高分话题范文参考:想认识的人(Describe a person that you want to know more about)I love to meet new people. Today, I would like to talk about acharismatic person I met a year ago.Last year I was going to Mumbai by train for an official meeting. On the way, a young lady boarded the train from a small railway station. She occupied the seat in front of me. Very soon we started talking about our hobbies, studies and work etc. Her name was Sukriti Singh. She was a second-year student of the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. One particular thing which made her quite special was her high confidence level. Normally, girls don’t travel alone in my country. In most cases, they are accompanied by their parents or some other family member. But, since she was on her own, that clearly reflected her boldness.I found this girl very interesting. Her in-depth knowledge of latest technology and space science made me re-think about my opinion about females. I used to think that Indian women are only interested in fashion. Science is not their cup of tea. But, this meeting was a real mind-changer. She helped open my eyes towards the commonattitude of ignorance males have towards females regarding their intelligence. Now, I fully understand that women have the potential to succeed in any field.雅思口语话题part2高分篇七Describe a public place that you think need improvementsYou should say:What the place isWhen do you go thereWhat do you like and dislike in the public place1-4月雅思口语新题part2范文之:改进公共设施(public place that you think need improvements)The public place that I think need improvements is the community library near my home. I often go there after work, probably twice a week. There are several aspects I like about the library. The first one is the whole atmosphere. Every time I go into the library, I can see people in all ages reading books, surfing in the internet, discussing questions, or watching movies, which makes me feel peaceful. The second one is the variety of books. It not only has Chinese books but also some English books. The third one is the easy access to all the materials. Application to the library card is easy and free. People can borrow 6 books for one time. However, there are some parts I don't like about the library. For example, the library doesn't have a quiet study area. It's pretty noisy for people or students who want to study lonely and quietly. The library can consider to build a quiet study room in the future.雅思口语话题part2高分范文之:未来居住的城市(city or country you want to live)Describe a city or country you most want to live in the future You should say:What is itWhere is it locatedWhy do you like it1-4月雅思口语新题part2范文之:改进公共设施(public place that you think need improvements)The city I most want to live in the future is Guangzhou. I personally don't like cold weather. I canstill wear sweaters or shirts in December in Guangzhou. Secondly, Guangzhou has a great job market. Career planning is one of the most important things for me. When I consider the city is livable or not, I pay more attention to the job market of the city. Guangzhou is one of the most developed cities in China. In the future, it will needall kinds of professionals to build the city better. I believe this will be a good opportunity. My roommate is a baking genius and she taught me to bake cakes at home.Learning how to bake cakes in rice cooker was pretty difficult because of several reasons. First of all, the portions of materials used were hard to control because I didn't have enough professional cooking tools. I estimated all the materials and merged together. I actually failed once, and succeeded at the second time. Secondly, baking cakes in rice cooker is different from baking in oven. I couldn't change the temperature of rice cooker and I couldn't know how well the cake became with the time passing by either. I had to guess and make sure the cake was not over-cooked. I had to pay more attention to the cake and couldn't leave the cake alone. The last difficult thing was how to take the cake out of the rice cooker. I had to slip the whole cake into a plate with some skills.雅思口语话题part2高分范文之:好的服务(where you received a good service)Describe an occasion where you received a good service from a company or shopYou should say:What the service wasWhen and where it happenedWhom you were together withHow you felt about itAnd explain why you think it was good service1-4月雅思口语新题part2范文之:好的服务(an occasion where you received a good service from a company or shop)Two years ago, I succeeded in returning a broken sweater to customer service at ABC store in Canada with my friend. However, I found it's broken after being washed on the same day. I took this sweater to the store, wishing I could return it by some luck because usually clothes couldn't be returned or exchanged after being washed. The lady was so nice. 雅思口语Part2话题范文:a family member影响你的家人You should say:Who the person isHow long you have known him /herWhat qualities this person hasand explain why this person has had such an influence on you.参考答案:In my life, there are several persons in my family members who made unmatched contributions to help me go ahead and among them my father’s contribution is unforgettable. He is the person whom I love most in this world and I consider him to be a perfect human being with his uncompromised honesty, bravery and responsibility.I know my father from the very beginning of my life as he is the person who brought me in this world. From my childhood, he has raised me with his love, affection and mentorship. He taught me about the world, people and values. He helped me on my education and has devoted his life to properly raise me.My father is an exemplary person who has led an honest life. As a high ranking government officer, he had many chances to pile up the riches but he had always known what the right things to do. The basic of humanity and the importance of education were something he delivered to me. He is now a retired personand leads his serene and peaceful like with contentment and happiness. He was a brave person who never feared the rough power of the society. As a father, I would say he has done everything humanly possible to raise me and my 3 other siblings. He spent his entire earning for our happiness and necessity while he went through hardship. I learned the true meaning of life and started achieving some of the qualities he has. The person who I am now is mostly because of my fathers devotion and dedication. To me, he is an ideal person whom I often mimic and consider as my idle in my life.Part 3 – Two-way discussion:Q. They both go out of their way to try to help out family member that they like. They are both faithful to their husbands. They are also both very stubborn when it comes to needing to go to the doctor or hospital... neither of them wants to go.When I first met them, except for the color of their hair, I almost could not tell them apart. They are both kind of tall and VERY skinny. Their frames are so small and petite. They both have rather thin hair, long faces, and high cheek bones.Except for the few ways they are alike as far as their personalities, thats where it ends. They dont get along very well at all, mainly because my sister-in-law has an attitude with anyone who tries to give her advice or if she knows she is wrong about something when it is pointed out. They may look very similar and have some of the same personality traits, but the way each carries themselves and portrays their personality is very different, another reason I think they dont get along very well together. Put them inthe same room and youd see polar opposites when trying to be nice and polite to one another.雅思口语Part2话题范文:an invention that changed the world You should say:What the invention isWho invented itWhat changes it brought参考范文:爱迪生与灯泡I would like to pick the Light Bulb as one such invention thathas very positively influenced the human race. This single invention of science has uplifted the human race towards prosperity and the modern world. 雅思口语Part 2范文人物类:Describe a good parent you know. You should say:•Who the parent is•How you know the parent•What the parent looks like•And explain why you think the parent is good.Ok right then, well the parent I'd like to talk about is the mother of a good friend of mine, and the reason for choosing to talk about her is that my friend is always going on about how lucky he is to have such a nice mum. And from what I know about her, I'd say he's absolutely right!Anyway, as for how I know her, well it's basically due to the fact that I went to the same middle school as her son. And because we became pretty good friends, we ended up seeing quite a lot of each other's parents, especially during the holidays when we often went over to each other's homes. And regarding what his mother looks like, well interestingly enough, she actually looks pretty similar to my own mother, because they both have quite round faces and long wavy hair. Having said that though, I've noticed that my friend's mother often ties her hair up in a bun, whereas my mother usually always keeps it down. And another thing to mention would be that whenever I see her, she always seems to be wearing red clothes of some sort, which I guess is probably because red suits her quite well. But anyway, finally then, with regard to why I think she's a good parent, well I'd say there are quite a few reasons, one of which would be that she's always been fully supportive to her son. And just to give you an example, when he was deciding what major to study at university, he ended up choosing music. And his mother gave him her full support, which is probably not what many other parents would have done, as music doesn't really leave open a lot of career choices, if you know what I mean! And I think it's fair to say that nowadays, a lot of parents persuade their children to do things which they think are best for them, but my friend has said that his parents have never been like this with him, especially his mother. So I kind of get the impression that she's never forced him to do anything against his will, and has always let him make his own decisions, which I think is really great.Notes:always going on about = always sayingend up doing sth. = 最终做某事interestingly enough = 说来有趣Having said that though = 不过话说回来of some sort = 某种just to give you an example = for examplebe fully supportive = gave sb. one’s full support 全力支持leave open a lot of career choices = 好就业I think it's fair to say that = I think it's true to say that...... = 我觉得可以说......So I kind of get the impression that = I get the feeling that...... = 我有点感觉到......against one’s will = 违背意愿,不得已Describe a polite person you know. You should say:•Who the person is•How you know the person•What the person looks like•And explain why you think the person is polite.Ok, right then, well the person I'd like to talk to you about is a very good friend of mine called Matthew, the reason being that he must be one of the nicest and most polite people I know, which I'll come to explain in a moment. But firstly, as for how I know him, well we've basically known each other since middle school, because we were in the same class together, and we still touch base quite a lot with each other. You know, if I feel like going out and doing something, I normally give him a call and see if he's free to meet up.And moving on to why I think he's so polite, well it's basically because he's just got really good manners. And just to give you an example, he always says thank you to people, even for the slightest thing. For instance, I've noticed that whenever we're eating at a restaurant, he will thank the waiters and waitresses every time they bring a dish to the table. And another example would be that whenever he gets off a taxi, he will always say thank you to the driver, which a lot of people probably think isn't necessary, but I'm sure the bus drivers really appreciate it, as do the waiters and waitresses, because it's not all that often they hear people thanking them!So yeah, that's basically why I'd say he's such a polite person, and I'm just trying to think if there's anything more to add, um … oh yeah, and one other thing to mention would be that he's always very complimentary to people. So what I mean is that he tends to always say nice things to people, for example he might make a comment about how nice someone's looking, or how good their cooking is, which I know might be seen as being a bit um … what's the word …um … insincere, but I think he genuinely means what he says, at least most of the time anyway! And I mean, I can't remember a single time when he's ever been unpleasant or rude to anyone, and I also can't really imagine him being nasty to anyone either.Notes:the reason being that = because 因为…which I'll come to explain in a moment = …我待一会儿就解释he's got really good manners = he’s really polite 他很有礼貌touch base = keep in touch 保持联系feel like doing sth. = want to do sth. 想要做某事meet up = 见个面just to give you an example = for example 给你举个例子吧(this is a set-phrase which is used a lot in English, and is normally used for when the example is quite long)even for the slightest thing = 即便是最微不足道的事not all that often = 不是那么经常I'm just trying to think if there's anything more to add = 我在想还有没有什么可以补充的he's always very complimentary to people = 他总是对人很恭维he tends to always = 他一般总might be seen (by some) as being = 可能会被别人看作是means what he says = 言而由衷at least most of the time anyway = 反正大多数时候是这样(this is a useful structure: at least……anyway)what's the word = 哪个单词怎么说?!(卡住的时候,可以用这句自言自语的话you can use this phrase when you are trying to think of what word to use. It's best to try and keep talking, even when you are thinking!)Describe a person you know who has an important job.You should say:•Who the person is•Where the person works•What the person does in the job•And explain why you think the person's job is important.Ok, well it was actually quite difficult choosing who to talk about, because I mean if you think about it, everyone's job is important in some way or other. But in the end I've decided to talk about an uncle of mine who's a doctor. And I apologise if you've already heard a lot of other examinees talking about doctors, but hopefully I can give you a few more insights into the job, based on what I know from my uncle. So first of all, as for what he actually does in his job, well I've never really asked him the specifics of what he gets up to every day, but in a nutshell, he spends most of his time treating patients, which involves firstly finding out what's wrong with them, and then helping cure them of whatever pain or illness they have. So normally, after examining a patient and listening to what they have to say, my uncle will then give them a prescription for suitable medicine to take, which he told me is extremely difficult to get right every time, even after having over 20 years of experience, due to the fact that the human body is just so complex. And even though my uncle specializes in skin disorders, there are still countless different kinds of various infections and conditions, so it's not easy at all to give a one hundred percent accurate diagnosis every time, as I'm sure you can understand! But anyway, regarding why his job is important, well I think it goes without saying that doctors are extremely important! I mean, if we didn't have them, most of us wouldn't have a clue how to make ourselves better, and so we wouldn't be able to get rid of a lot of illnesses we might have. Of course, for small ailments it wouldn't be too big a problem, but if you were to come down with something serious, then you would be in quite a bit of trouble if there weren't any doctors around to help you!So yeah, I think it's pretty safe to say that they're an essential part of our society, and I'm really grateful to doctors like my uncle who have devoted so much of their time and effort into helping people get rid of their pains and illnesses, and thereby helping them lead happier and comfier lives.Notes:what he gets up to every day = what he does every dayin a nutshell = in short 简言之countless different kinds of various = 多种多样it goes without saying that = 不言而喻come down with = 得病quite a bit of = a lot of 很多it's pretty safe to say that = 可以肯定地说地点类:Describe a cafe that you know in your hometown. You should say:•Where it is•How often you go there•Who you usually go there with•What kind of food they serve there (or, what service they provide)•And explain why you like to eat at this place.Ok right then, well the cafe that I'd like to talk to you about is one called Maya Cafe, which is somewhere on the outskirts of the city, just a few minutes' walk from where I live. And as for how often I go there, well I actually go there quite a lot, probably something like once or twice a week. Having said that though, it really kind of depends on how busy I am. I mean, there are times when I don't go for weeks on end because I'm simply too busy with stuff, but normally that's not the case, and I'm there pretty regularly, as I just mentioned.Anyway, regarding what kind of things they serve there, well it's great, because they've got a really good selection of both Chinese and Western food, so there's a lot to choose from. And in terms of drinks, there's also quite a lot on the menu, especially coffee, which you can probably imagine, what with it being a cafe and all. And I tend to normally always go for the Chai Latte, cos I think they do it really well, and so I've never really felt the need to try any of the other drinks on the menu.which would be that it's really big and spacious, at least compared to most of the other cafes I've been to, so you never have to worry about not finding a place to sit. Although having said that, it can sometimes get pretty busy in the evenings, so I usually tend to go in the morning or afternoon. Anyway, another thing to mention would be that the food and drinks there are pretty good-value. Because I mean, most of the Western food there only costs between about 30 to 50 Yuan, which is a lot cheaper than most of the other Western restaurants in the city. And the price of the coffee there is round about the same price as Starbuck's, which some people might see as expensive, but considering the fact that you're paying for the environment as well as the drink, I'd say it's definitely worth it.Oh and the other thing I really like about it is that you can spend as much time as you want relaxing there, without being bothered by the waiters. And the chairs there are nice and comfy, so it's actually very easy to spend half the day there using the free wifi or doing whatever.Notes:on the outskirts of the city = outside the city 在市郊something like = about 大概Having said that though = Although having said that = 不过话说回来on end = 持续地normally that's not the case = 一般不是这个样子go for = choose 选择in terms of = 关于,在…方面what with it being a cafe and all = 毕竟是个咖啡店round about the same price = 差不多一样价格considering the fact that = 考虑到Oh and = 啊对了,……nice and comfy = 很舒服(如果你对某个事情很满意的话,这个形容词前面可以加一个”nice and..." for example, "the weather's nice and sunny today" / "my bedroom is nice and bright" / "the library is nice and quiet")Describe a time you went to a place crowded with people. You should say•Where it was•When you went there•What you did there•And explain why you went there / how you felt about the crowded place.Ok, well the first place that came to mind when I saw this topic was the Beijing Metro, because I remember it being unbelievably crowded, so that's what I'm gonna talk to you about. And as for when I went there, well it was actually pretty recently, which I suppose was probably only about two or three weeks ago, so it's still pretty fresh in my memory. And regarding what I was doing there, well basically, I was on my way to see a friend who lives in Beijing, and she had told me that by far the best way to get around the city was using the subway, simply because the roads were so congested. So I took her advice, but it was a huge shock when I actually got into the subway station and saw just how many people there were. I mean, I knew that there would be a lot of people, but I never expected to see that many!Although looking back on it now, I suppose what made it worse was the fact that I was travelling during rush hour, so it was a lot more crowded than I'm sure it would have been during off-peak times. And when I saw how packed the train was when it was pulling into the station, I remember thinking there was no way I was going to be able to get on. But I was in a bit of a hurry, coz I was actually already running late, so I had no choice really but to join the huge queue of people waiting. Anyway, I did somehow manage to make it onto the train, but I was pressed up against people on all sides, so it was pretty uncomfortable to say the least! I mean, it was absolutely heaving, and I literally couldn't move at all! crowded = packed = heaving 拥挤的Thankfully though, I didn't have too far to travel, coz if I remember correctly, I was only on the train for about 4 stops. And when I finally got off, I remember feeling incredibly relieved, and also very grateful that I didn't have to go through the same experience every day.Notes:it's still pretty fresh in my memory = I can still remember it pretty clearly 记忆犹新the roads were so congested = 道路拥堵it was a huge shock = 大吃一惊what made it worse was the fact that = 雪上加霜的是already running late = 已经晚了make it = 做到,办成to say the least = 至少说来;最起码it was absolutely heaving = 挤死人了!Thankfully though = 不过还好go through = 经受,遭受(尤为艰难时期)物品类:Describe another language (not English) that you would like to learn. You should say:•What language it would be•How you would learn it•What equipment or facilities you would need to study this language•And explain what difficulties you think you would have / why you would choose this language.Ok right then, well there are actually quite a few languages that I would like to learn, but probably the one I'd like to learn most is French, partly because it sounds quite nice, and also because France is a country that I'd really love to visit sometime. Thus if I were able to speak French, I would then be able to converse with the locals, which would give me a much better understanding of the country and also make my time there a lot more interesting and enjoyable.Anyway, as for how I would learn it, well I guess first of all I would try and find a decent self-study course on the Internet. And as well as that, I suppose another thing I would do would be to look for a teacher, preferably a native speaker if possible, because I would then be able to get feedback on what I was doing right and wrong. And having a native speaker as my teacher I think would be extremely beneficial in terms of developing a good accent. And regarding what equipment I would need to study French, well thinking about it, I suppose it would be more or less the same as what I've been using for learning English, so basically a laptop and mp4 player, with which I would be able to download various things like podcasts and other learning materials onto.So that's probably how I would learn the language, and finally, with regard to what difficulties I think I might encounter, well firstly, I imagine I might have quite a bit of difficulty with the pronunciation, as it's so different to Chinese. I mean, there are so many sounds in French which we don't have in our language, so I'm sure it would take an extremely long time to speak it well. And besides the pronunciation, I guess it might also be pretty difficult mastering the grammar, simply because every language has its own set of grammar rules, and I'm sure French is no exception!Notes:converse with = chat with 交谈,聊天decent = good 好native speaker as my teacher = 外教(NOT “foreign teacher”!!)in terms of = 关于,在…方面thinking about it = 想想看more or less = pretty much = 差不多learning materials = 学习资料quite a bit of = a lot of 很多be no exception = 不例外Describe a book or film about the future you read or watched. You should say:•What the name of it was•When you read or watched it•What it was about•And explain how you felt about it.Ok right then, well the film I'm gonna talk about is called Waterworld, the reason being that it's the only one I can actually remember watching which was set in the future. So anyway, as for when I watched it, well I suppose it must have been around five or six years ago, when I was still at middle school. And regarding what the film was about, well basically, it's set at a time when the planet is almost completely submerged in water, because the ice caps have all melted due to global warming, and so the sea levels have risen to a point where all land has pretty much been covered by water. So that's the situation, and basically what happens in the film is that everyone's living on boats and looking for land. And if I remember correctly, there's a girl who's got some kind of map tattooed on her which shows where land can actually be found.Anyway, to cut a long story short, the film finishes with them eventually finding the land and living happily ever after, which came as no surprise to me, seeing as most Hollywood movies tend to end that way.So yeah, that's basically the gist of it, and as for what I thought of the film, well to tell you the truth I didn't really think it was all that good, because I mean the plot was a bit too predictable, you know, there was no real suspense. So in that respect, I thought it could have been better. But saying that, I suppose there were also a few things I did like about it, one of which was the special effects, which I thought were pretty impressive. And another thing I liked about the film was that it made me really kind of appreciate the land that we have around us, which I know sounds a bit ridiculous, but I mean, before watching the film, I kind of just took it for granted and didn't really think much about it. So in a way it sort of helped me appreciate my life a bit more, if you know what I mean!Notes:the reason being that = because 因为It must have been around = It was about 大约,大概to cut a long story short = in short 长话短说came as no surprise to me = 不意外in that respect = in that aspect 在此方面But saying that = 但是话说回来in a way = in some ways = to some extent = 在某种程度上Describe an interesting (and impressive) talk (or speech) that you heard. You should say:•Who gave the talk•What the talk was about•Where you heard it•And explain why the talk was interesting / what you learned from the talk.Ok right then, well to be honest, there aren't really that many speeches I've heard which I can remember in much detail, you know, I tend to forget most talks pretty much as soon as I've finished listening to them! But one talk that did leave a particularly deep impression on me was by Li Kaifu, who I'm not sure if you've heard of before, but he's one of the most accomplished and respected people here in China, which is why I made the effort to listen to what he had to say.So firstly, as for where I heard it, well I listened to his speech at home on my computer, because I haven't been fortunate enough to hear him speaking live yet, so I basically just found an mp3 recording on Baidu, which I then downloaded onto my computer and listened to.But anyway, regarding what his speech was about, well it was quite a while ago when I heard it, so I can only remember bits of it, but in a nutshell, it was basically about success and how we can go about achieving it. And so in his speech, he outlined a few things that we can do if we want to lead a successful and fulfilling life, which most of us do of course! So for example, one thing he touched upon was how we should all follow our dreams, instead of simply doing what other people expect of us. And hearing this from Li Kaifu himself really made me believe in the truth of that statement, because he's speaking from experience. And he also went on to explain that many other successful people also attribute their success to the fact that they pursued their dreams.and so I was able to learn a tremendous amount from it, such as, you know, how to be successful in what I do, and also what values I should live my life by.What else? … um … Oh yeah, and another thing that made his talk especially interesting was the fact that he used a lot of stories. So I mean, even though his talk went on for over an hour or so, I didn't feel bored at all listening to it, and in fact I even made a mental note that, if I ever have to do any public speaking myself in the future, I'll also try to include a few stories, like Li Kaifu did.Notes:I haven't been fortunate enough to = 我还没有……的福气quite a while ago = quite a long time ago 很久以前in a nutshell = to put it simply 简言之How we can go about achieving it……= 我们怎样去做才能做得到He outlined……= 他概述了……lead a successful and fulfilling life = 生活成功充实touch upon = 提到,谈及speak from experience = 经验之谈……or so = 左右make a mental note = 在心中记下事件类:Describe an (important) occasion when you were late. You should say:•What occasion you were late for•When it happened•Why you were late•And explain what happened as a result of your lateness (or, explain how you felt when you were late).Ok then, well the occasion I'd like to talk to you about was actually one of my first lectures I had at university, which I suppose must have been about four or five months ago, at the beginning of the semester. And regarding why I was late, well it was mainly due to the fact that I overslept. You know, I didn't hear my alarm go off, so I somehow just slept through it. And the reason for that was probably because I was up quite late the night before. I mean, it was the beginning of the university year, and so I'd been out with my new roommates. You know, we thought it would be good to go out for a few drinks and get to know each other a bit!So I ended up going to bed at about two or three in the morning, which explains why I overslept a little. And to make matters worse, I remember waking up with a splitting headache and feeling pretty hungover, which is not the best way to start a new course at university I know, but anyway, that's the way it was.And when I finally got to the lecture theatre, it was really quite embarrassing, because the door was right at the front of the room, so everyone saw me walked in late, including the lecturer, who actually stopped talking and turned round to look at me. So it was a horrible feeling, and the first thing I did was apologise to him for being late and disturbing everyone, and then I went to find a seat at the back as soon as possible!Thankfully though, the guy who was sitting next to me was nice enough to tell me everything that I'd missed, which I was extremely grateful for. But the only unfortunate consequence was that I hadn't really left a very good first impression on my lecturer, as you can imagine! So I decided to make a big effort, from then on, to always be on time for his lectures, which I'm happy to say I have been up to now!Notes:go off = (警报器)突发巨响be up quite late = 熬夜到很晚end up doing sth. = 最终做某事to make matters worse = 雪上加霜的是but anyway, that's the way it was = 反正事情就是这样Thankfully though = 不过还好......the only unfortunate consequence was that = 唯一不幸的结果是Describe a mathematics class you attended at primary school. You should say:•When and where you attended the class•What the teacher taught•What you did during the class•And explain how you felt about the class.all, because it's been such a long time since I took them. But I suppose one class that I have at least a vague memory of was my very first maths class, so that's what I'm gonna talk to you about. And as for when I attended the class, well I suppose I must have been about six or seven years old, because that's the age when most children start primary school here in China. And regarding what the teacher taught us in that class, well if truth be told, I can't actually remember a thing he taught us, and I would be lying if I said I did! I mean, all I remember is him introducing himself and giving us our new text books. But in terms of the maths itself, I literally can't remember a word he said, because all we did was just go through the textbook. But my guess would be that we just did basic equations, you know, like two plus two equals four, three times three equals nine, because at that age we could only handle very simple arithmetic.Anyway, as for how I felt about the class, well to put it simply, it left no impression on me at all, because I mean, I think for any child of that age, simply just ploughing through the textbook in class is mind-numbingly boring! You know, when we're that young, we kind of need a bit more stimulation and excitement to concentrate. So I think it would have been a lot more fun if the teacher had given some practical examples of how we could actually use maths in our everyday lives, as this would have helped spark my interest. You know, it would have made the maths come alive a bit more. But as I mentioned just now, all we did was just look at equations in the text book, without having any idea of their relevance to our lives. So I kinda just switched off in all of my maths classes, cos they were all as bad as each other, unfortunately!Notes:have a vague memory = remember … vaguely 模糊的印象if truth be told = to tell you the truth 老实说my guess would be that = I guess 我觉得to put it simply = in short 简言之it left no impression on me = 毫无印象plough through = 费劲吃力地查阅mind-numbingly boring = 使人思想麻木的无聊spark one’s interest = 激发兴趣I kinda just switched off = 我有点儿走神了Describe a special meal you were invited to.You should say:•When and where you were invited•Who invited you•What you ate•And explain how you felt about the meal.Canada for a few years to start university there, so he invited a few of his close friends for a farewell dinner before heading off. And one of the reasons I've chosen to talk about this meal instead of some of the others I've been to is simply that it's still quite fresh in my memory. You know, it was only about a couple of weeks ago when it happened. And as for where we had the meal, well I can't remember the exact name of the place, but it was quite a posh restaurant somewhere in the centre of the city, and judging from how nice it looked when I walked in, it seemed to be a pretty expensive place to dine. So I was kind of relieved that it wouldn't be me footing the bill! And we also had our own separate room, which was nice, and probably just as well, seeing as we made quite a bit of noise during the meal, what with all the laughing and stuff going on.Anyway regarding what we ate, well I couldn't tell you every single dish that we had, because there was just so much, you know, the whole table was literally covered with food. I mean, there was crab, chicken, duck, what else, um … oh yeah, shrimps, and, uh … oh and a whole load of different vegetables. So by the end of it, I was absolutely stuffed. You know, we all ate masses, because the food was so good, and it would have been a bit of a pity to see it go to waste! But anyway, finally then, with regard to how I felt about the meal, well to put it simply, I really enjoyed it. Because as well as the food, which was fantastic, I really enjoyed everyone's company. You know, it was great being together with so many good friends, many of which I hadn't seen in quite a while. So yeah, all in all, it was a really special evening, and I'm extremely grateful to have been invited, and also very grateful to my friend for his generosity, as the bill must have come to quite a lot, I'm sure!Notes:Ok then = Ok, (I'm ready to begin).
