So many thousands of terrified people died every time there was an outbreak. John Snow wanted to face the challenge and solve this problem. He became interested in two theories that possibly explained how cholera killed people. The first suggested that cholera multiplied in the air. A cloud of dangerous gas floated around until it found its victims. The second suggested that people absorbed this disease into their bodies with their meals. 课后反思
这堂课我一开始以太阳系九大行星图片的方式让学生熟悉下宇宙,从而导出日心说这一理论,进而引出哥白尼以及他的新理论。

这样导入到课文,比较自然。

课文处理过程由浅入深,一步步诱导学生,使学生理解起课文来没有那么困难,也不会对这种文章无从入手,锻炼了学生获取信息、重组信息、加工信息的能力。

对文章理解后再来个总结,并联系实际生活,使得学生的认识得到提升。

本课的参与者是高二学生,对于已经接受了一年的高中英语教学的他们来说,已经具备了一定的英语交际能力,这一系列的任务是符合他们的实际学习情况和探究能力的。

但是学生的能力有高低,在实行分组活动的过程中,也出现了一部分学生包揽的现象,英语学习能力薄弱的同学赶不上组里其他成员的进度,运用语言的机会很少,导致参与度不够。

这点需要在以后的教学过程中改进,争取让每位学生都有所收获,让个人的表演变成大家的课堂。

本课还有一个问题,就是把导入和Reading结合起来后,课堂时间很紧凑,如果上得慢一点,homework就没法在课堂上讲解,就增加了学生课堂作业的难度和负担。

Role play 就得减少时间。

这是学生知识输出的重要过程,必不可少,也是任务型阅读比较难把握的地方,既要让学生充分讨论充分表现,又要控制好时间。

总之,这堂课有利有弊,总体来说还是比较成功的,大部分同学都参与了并学到了东西。

He was one of the first scientists to use mathematical observation to collect information. He believed the sun is the center of the universe and the earth and other planets went around it.

They had noticed that some planets in the sky seemed to stop, move backward and then go forward in a loop. Others appeared brighter at times and less bright at others.
Because his theory is now the base on which all our ideas of the universe are built. His theory replaced the Christian idea of gravity. He showed this was obviously wrong.
