Want a glance of the future of health care? Take a look at the way the various networks of people about patient care are being connected to one another, and how this new connectivity is being exploited to deliver medicine to the patient—no matter where he or she may be.Online doctors offering advice based on normal symptoms(症状)is the most obvious example. Increasingly, however, remote diagnosis(远程诊断)will be based on real physiological data(生理数据)from the actual patients. A group from the University of Kentucky has shown that by using personal data assistance plus a mobile phone, it is perfectly practical to send a patient’s important signs over the telephone. With this kind of equipment, the cry asking whether there was a doctor in the house could well be a thing of the past.Other medical technology groups are working on applying telemedicine to rural (countryside) care. And at least one team wants to use telemedicine as a tool for disaster needs—especially after earthquakes. On the whole, the trend is towards providing the global access to medical data and experts’ opinions. But there is one problem. Bandwidth(宽带) is the limiting factor for sending complex medical pictures around the world, —CT photos being one of the biggest bandwidth users. Communication satellites may be able to deal with the short-term needs during disasters such as earthquakes or wars. But medicine is looking towards both the second generation Internet and the third generation mobile phones for the future of remote medical service.Doctors have met to discuss computer-based tools for medical diagnosis, training and telemedicine. With the falling price of broadband communications, the new technologies should start a new time when telemedicine and the sharing of m edical information, experts’ opinions and diagnosis are common. 【文章大意】本文主要讲述人们将来可以在网上看病, 医生可以根据病人的生理数据做出远程诊断。

高考保分巩固练十限时50分钟Ⅰ. 阅读理解Some people are just bound to be failures. That’s the way some adults look at troubled kids. Maybe you’ve heard the saying, “A bird with a broken wing will never fly as high. ”T. J. Ware was made to feel this way almost every day in school.By high school, T. J. was the most celebrated troublemaker in his town. Teachers would feel uneasy when they saw his name posted on their classroom lists for the next term. Teachers didn’t want to have him again the following year. T. J. was moving on, but certainly not moving up.I met T. J. for the first time at a weekend leadership retreat. All the students at school had been invited to sign up for ACE training, a program designed to have students become more involved in their communities. When I showed up to lead their first retreat, the community leaders gave me this overview of the attending students: “We have a total range of students represented today, from the studentbody president to T. J. Ware, the boy with the longest arrest record in the history of town. ”At the start of the training, Ware was standing outside the circle of students, against the back wall, with that “go ahead, impress me” look on his face. But slowly, the interactive games drew him in. The ice really melted when the groups started building a list of positive and negative things that had occurred at school that year. T. J. had some definite thoughts on those situations. The other students in T. J. ’s group welcomed his comments. All of a sudden T. J. felt like a part of the group, and before long he was being treated like a leader. He was saying things that made a lot of sense, and everyone was listening. The next day, T. J. was very active in all the activities. By the end of the retreat, he had joined the Homeless Project team. The other students on the team were impressed with his passionate concern and ideas. They elected T. J. co-chairman of the team. The student council president would be taking his instruction from T. J. Ware. A group of teachers strongly opposed to his being elected co-chairman. The very project was to be a huge food drive, organized by the Homeless Project team. These teachers reminded Coggshall, the principal, “He has an arrest record as long as your arm. He’ll probably steal half the food. ”Mr Coggshall reminded them that the purpose of the ACE program was to uncover any positive passion that a student had and strengthen itspractice until true change could take place. The teachers left the meeting shaking their heads, firmly convinced that failure was approaching. Two weeks later, T. J. and his friends led a group of 70 students in a drive to collect food and collected a school record: 2, 854 cans of food in just two hours. The local newspaper covered the event with a full-page article the next day. That newspaper story was posted on the main bulletin board at school, where everyone could see it. T. J. ’s picture was up there for doing something great. T. J. totally changed and led a second project, collecting 300 blankets and 1, 000 pairs of shoes for the homeless shetler.T. J. reminds us that a bird with a broken wing only needs mending. But once it has healed, it can fly higher than the rest. T. J. got a job. He has become productive and he is flying quite nicely these days.【文章大意】这是一篇情感教育故事。

Dear Mr.Shyamalan,According to the box office, congratulations are in order. It seems your new movie,Split,is doing gangbusters. That means millions of people all over the world have seen or will soon see your story about a man who is suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder(DID).As much as I'm rooting for you as an artist,Mr.Shyamalan, personally,I think you climbed to success on the overburdened backs of the mentally ill.As a person who suffers from multiple(多面的)personalities,as well as a psychologist with professional knowledge and skills in the subject,I feel it is my duty to school you in a few facts:People who suffer from DID are not, generally speaking, scary or cheating. We are normal people who silently suffer from a painful condition in which our sense of who we are feels divided into broken parts. Our condition is often caused by a history of severe and repeated child abuse. In truth,we are victims of unimaginable violence. With the release of your movie, you have become my bully(恃强凌弱者).I am personally harmed by the absurd fixed image you use in Split.Your description of Kevin Crumb as one more gender confused, crossdressing multiple with a liking for violence has the same effect as shouting across the playground,“People with DID are dangerous nut jobs!”I have lived for years with the shame created by movies such as yours.Despite being a successful doctor who runs a charity for adult survivors of child abuse,I live with constant anxiety that people will learn of my diagnosis(诊断).For no matter how long I've known someone or how highly they think of me,once they know I'm a multiple, the reaction is imaginable. In the future,I'd appreciate it if you stopped using our pain and suffering as materials for your entertainment.Michelle Stevens1.What does the author think of Shyamalan's success?A.His efforts paid off.B.He deserved it.C.He was very fortunate.D.He got it in an immoral way.2.What's the probable cause of DID?A.Alcohol abuse of parents.B.Ill treatment in childhood.C.Tense relations among people.D.Extreme anxiety from life.3.Who is Kevin Crumb according to the text?A.A friend of Mr.Shyamalan's.B.A character in Split.C.A patient of Michelle Stevens'.D.A psychologist with multiple personalities.4.What's the author's purpose in writing the text?A.To give the movie Split a review.B.To show respect for people with DID.C.To state that the movie Split hurt people with DID.D.To argue that people with DID can also make a difference.【解题导语】本文是一封书信。

Nowadays a third of primary schoolchildren in China are suffering from psychological ill-health as a result of classroom stress and parental pressure, according to a study published on Tuesday. The problem is so bad that urgent measures are needed, warns the study, led by British and Chinese researchers. The investigation surveyed 2, 191 pupils aged 9 to 12 in nine schools in urban and rural Zhejiang, a relatively prosperous coastal province in eastern China.Eighty-one percent of the youngsters said they worried “a lot” about exams, 63 percent feared being punished by their teachers, 44 percent had been physically bullied at least sometimes—with boys likelier to be victims than girls—and 73 percent had been physically punished by their parents. Most of the children complained they struggled to cope with the amount of homework they were assigned.Over one-third reported headaches or abdominal pains—psychosomatic symptoms of stress—at least once a week. The most stressed children reported incidence of aches or pains of four times a week. The investigation, led by Therese Hesketh, a professor at University College London (UCL) Centre for International Health and Development, pointed the finger at extreme competitiveness in China’s education system, from the onset of primary school.“The competitive and punitive educational environment leads to high levels of stress and psychosomatic symptoms, ” the authors say.“Measures to reduce unnecessary stress on children in schools should be introduced urgently. ”The paper appears in Archives of Disease in Childhood, a peer-reviewed journal of the British Medical Association (BMA).The “urban” setting for the study was Hangzhou, the provincial capital of Zhejiang, while the “rural” setting was a poor county in Quzhou prefecture, in the west of the province. The study highlights some of the complexities that, it says, explain the demands for academic excellence and intolerance of failure. One factor is the country’s dramatic rise in prosperity, which has created “previously unheard-of possibilities for upward mobility” and in turn stoked pressures on children to do well at school.Other reasons are China’s one-child policy and the Confucian traditions of respect for parents and elders, filial piety, obedience and discipline.“The aspirations of many parents, who had limited educational opportunities themselves are now invested in their only children, ” it says.Previous studies on school-related stress and its impact on health are few and generally come from Scandinavia.A 2008 assessment among 10-to 13-year-old in Sweden found that 21 percent of boys and 30 percent of girls experienced headache, and 17 percent of boys and 28 percent of girls experienced abdominal pain at least once per week.【文章大意】本文是一篇报告。

C I came to study in the United States a year ago. Yet, I did not know the real American society until I was injured in a car accident because after the car accident I had to see a doctor and go to court (法庭). After the accident, my roommate called a doctor for me. I was very grateful and determined to repay him one day. But the next day, he asked me to pay him $200 for what he had done. I was astonished. He had good reason to charge me, he said. And if I wanted to collect money from the person who was responsible for my injury, I’d have to have a good lawyer. And only a good doctor can helped me get a good lawyer. Now that he had helped me find a good doctor, it was only fair that I should pay him. But every time I want to see doctor, I had to wait about 50 minutes. He would see two or three patients at the same time, and often stop treating one so as to see another. Yet he charged me $115 each time. The final examination report consisted of ten lines and it cost me $215. My lawyer was all smiles the first time we met. But after that he avoided seeing me at all. He knew very well the other party was responsible for the accident, yet he hardly did anything. He simply waited to collect his money. He was so irresponsible that I decided to dismiss him. And he made me pay him $770.
