times a week. These workouts are meant to be slow and steady, as opposed to highintensity intervals that alternate between allout runs and rest.
Pushing yourself too much or increasing the intensity too quickly can trigger headaches in some people, so make sure your heart rate doesn't jump above 150 BPM. If you don't have a heart rate monitor, then breathe only through your nose. You'll know you're going too hard if you can't keep up that breathing pattern.

“Cardio workouts can help with regular headaches, too , ” says Alexander Mauskop, MD, director of the New York Headache Center in Manhattan.
There are a couple of theories on how it works. “Breaking a sweat may relieve stress , ” says Dr Mauskop. Headaches are often triggered by stress, and if you remove the trigger, you release the pain. The feelgood chemicals produced when you exercise actually block your pain sensors, acting as a natural painkiller. Since headaches can be caused by many different factors like genetics, lack of sleep, or certain foods, the cardio workout won't be the solution for everyone, Dr Mauskop says. But one German study found that it helped 65 percent of patients, which makes it as effective as the best medicines on the market. Dr Mauskop recommends his patients do a halfhour reasonable intensity (强度) cardio workout, like jogging, biking, or swimming three

Ⅰ: 汉译英填空Passage 1Chinese people think a lot about food. In fact, I think that they are sometimes obsessed with it. My first experience of this aspect of Chinese culture came at a banquet during a trip to Beijing in 1998. I had eaten Chinese food often, but I could not have imagined how fabulous a real Chinese banquet could be. The first six or seven ___________ (一道菜) seemed to fill the table, with plates dangerously balanced one on top of another. I thought this vast wave of food wad the total number of dishes to be served, and I started eating __________ (贪欲地). Everyone else just ___________ (品尝) a bit of each dish and then put their ____________(筷子) down, continuing to chat. “They can`t have very big __________ (食欲,胃口),” I thought.___________ (令我惊奇的是), more dishes arrived, plus soups, side dishes, and desserts. There was enough to feed a whole army. ____________ (难怪) my fellow guests had had only a few bites of each dish; they knew what was still to come. But I was already so full that I could only watch as the banquet continued.Another aspect of ”food culture” i s that the Chinese seem to eat almost every part of every animal—much to the horror of many westerners. Stomach, intestines, ears, __________ (舌头), tail, hoof, and lungs are all likely to ___________ (终止) on the dinner table in front of you. The first time I saw a three-year-old kid cheerfully ___________ (咀嚼) a chicken`s head I had had dreams for weeks..These days I enjoy that sort of food myself. On a recent trip to the United States I suddenly felt like some Chinese delicacies, and asked the guy at the meat counter of a supermarket, “Do you have pigs` ears?” “No,” he said, pulling at his own ear, “just these ordinary ones..” He must have thought I was joking. However, there are other kinds of foods that have taken longer forme to accept. The __________ (臭名昭著的,声名狼藉的) Choudoufu is anexample. (The name says it all: “stinky tofu”.) Just when I ______________(适应于) it, I found another ___________ (种类) on a trip to Hunan: deep-fried Choudoufu, a horrible black substance that looked and smelled about as____________ (开胃的,增进食欲的) as a burnt tennis shoe. Maybe I`ll getused to that, too—someday.Ⅱ: 语法填空Passage 2The first time I ate British food I was in the canteen of a London publisher. Some people just sat down on the sofa to eat. I was amazed attheir easy and graceful manner while I stood there 1 (feel)somewhat confused by the food. At the counter there were colourful mixturesin eight or nine big boxes. It was quite hard to make 2 whatthey contained. The waiter put there foods inside bread or potatoesaccording to people`s 3 (require). I still remember what I ate:a tuna fish and cheese sandwich. It didn’t actually taste bad, but to methe cold fish, cold cheese, and even the bread from the fridge, was a mealthat would make you feel cold inside. Later, I found out that British peoplelike cold food. Their salad, for example, is made from vegetables 4 are only washed before serving, while Chinese food is prepared more 5 (care). The Chinese have a fixed phrase “old leftovers”. Cold food means poverty—you don`t give it to a guest! No wonder westerners like Chinesefood..I also learned that the English like to mix food before serving itat the table. I once ordered mushroom soup in a restaurant and wasastonished when it 6 (bring) to the table. It seemed to be justa bowl of grey liquid and it was only after I 7 (taste) it thatI knew it was actually cooked with mushrooms. The things inside sandwichesand basked potatoes are also various kinds of mashed food, 8 the fillings of jiaozi in Beijing. The food here goes against the Chinese senseof beauty and style at the dinner table. Chinese dishes can be photographedand have a nice appearance. We would never mash food into 9 unrecognizable shape. What`s more, the names of many kinds of English food are hard10 (remember). In fact, they often use French or Italian words. Butone thing I do admire is the polite manner in which British people eat, even if it is just a potato.III. 课文重点句型翻译:1. 怪不得跟我一起的客人每道菜也就浅尝几口;他们明白还有什么菜要上呢。

Researchers are linking the growing dependence on the drugs to the increasing need for meat, milk and eggs. However, the drugs could quicken the development of antibiotic-resistant infections(感染).Such infections are already a major public, health concern in the United States. The World Health Organization notes when people stop living in poverty, the first thing they want to do is eat better, rather than earn more money. For most people, that means their diet should contain more meat. With the rapid development of Asia, people there are eating nearly four times as much meat, milk and other milk products as they did 50 years ago.To meet the need, farmers have put many animals into smaller space. As the animals are crowded together, the easiest way to deal with some of the problems of crowding is to give them antibiotics. It's clear that antibiotics help animals stay healthy in a crowded environment and grow faster. But bacteria can develop resistance to the drugs gradually.Nowadays, doctors find antibiotics that once worked against the infections no longer work. The bacteria have learned ways to fight against the drugs. The heavy use of antibiotics in animals is responsible forthe growth of antibiotic resistance worldwide. In the United States, at least two million people get drug-resistant infections each year and at least 23,000 die from an infection.Europe has banned the use of antibiotics to increase animal growth. And the United States is hoping to persuade farmers to stop using antibiotics for that purpose.21.What accounts for the increasing amount of antibiotics given to farm animals?A.The desire for new drugs.B.The less effective antibiotics.C.The outdated farm technology.D.The need for more various foods.21.What do most people want to do first when they get rid of poverty according to the WHO?A.Making a lot of money.B.Focusing more on health.C.Having more meat in their diet.D.Living in a better environment.23.What can be inferred from the passage?A.Antibiotics do harm to animals.B.Antibiotics help animals stay healthy.C.Antibiotics are used heavily in Europe.D.Antibiotic-resistant bacteria spread to people.24.What's the passage mainly about?A.A new way of raising farm animals.B.The advantages of using antibiotics.C.The reason for banning the use of antibiotics.D.The negative effect of antibiotics in farm animals.Ⅵ.完形填空I used to believe politeness was a thing of the past, but I had to change my thinking after my experience in a happening coffee place with two of my grown-up daughters. Maybe someone had kicked her out of their car the night before. “We're moving house.” “No space for her any more with the baby coming.”“We never really wanted her, but what could we have done? She was a present.”People find all sorts of excuses for abandoning an animal. And she was one of the most beautiful dogs I had ever seen.I called her Goldie. If I had known what was going to happen I would have given her a more creative name. She was so unsettled during those first few days. She hardly ate anything and had such an air of sadness about her. There was nothing I could do to make her happy, it seemed. Heaven knows what had happened to her at her previous owner's. But eventually at the end of the first week she calmed down. Always by my side, whether we were out on one of our long walks or sitting by the fire. That's why it was such a shock when she pulled away from me one day when we were out for a walk. We were a long way from home, when she started barking and getting very restless. Eventually I couldn't hold her any longer and she raced off down the road towards a farmhouse in the distance as fast as she could.By the time I reached the farm I was very tired and upset with Goldie. But when I saw her licking (舔) the four puppies (幼犬) I started to feel sympathy towards them. “We didn't know what had happened to her, ”said the woman at the door. “I took her for a walk one day, soon after the puppies were born, and she just disappeared.”“She must have tri ed to come back to them and got lost, ”added a boy from behind her.I must admit I do miss Goldie, but I've got Nugget now, and she looks just like her mother. And I've learnt a good lesson:not to judge people.31.How did the author feel about Goldie when Goldie came to the house?A.Shocked. B.Sympathetic.C.Annoyed.
