首先是基于本课的教材分析，本课通过呈现小动物图片，帮助学生学习词汇。
本节课的功能句是：What is itIt’s a ...能用What is it 来向别人询问动物名称.能用It’s a ... 来告诉别人动物的名称；其次是基于本单元的教材分析，本单元围绕The world around us展开知识结构。
最后是基于学生已有的知识储备的教材分析。
三年级起点的学生经过一段时间的学习有了一定的学习热情并且有了一点自己的学习方法，这节课的学习任务对他们来说已经很容易接受了。
二、学情分析：三年级学生活泼好动，喜欢直观形象思维，尤其对游戏，竞赛，特别感兴趣。
对于刚接触英语的三年级学生来说，有的可能说的不好，有的还不敢说。
课堂上应以表扬为主，注意培养学生学习英语的兴趣，鼓励他们大胆说。
学生们喜新好奇，求知欲强，对于新鲜的事物有着浓烈的兴趣和探究欲望，应抓住学生喜欢动物这一特征激发学生的学习兴趣。
