Their natures are much the same; their habits become widely different. 苟不教 性乃迁 教之道 贵以专 If follishly there is no teaching, the nature will deteriorate. The right way in teaching, is to attach the utmost importance in thoroughness. 昔孟母 择邻处 ⼦不学 断机杼 Of old, the mother of Mencius chose a neighbourhood and when her child would not learn, she broke the shuttle from the loom. 窦燕⼭ 有义⽅ 教五⼦ 名俱扬 Tou of the Swallow Hills had the right method He taugh five son, each of whom raised the family reputation. 养不教 ⽗之过 教不严 师之惰 To feed without teaching, is the father's fault. To teach without severity, is the teacher's laziness. ⼦不学 ⾮所宜 幼不学 ⽼何为 If the child does not learn, this is not as it should be. If he does not learn while young, what will he be when old ? ⽟不琢 不成器 ⼈不学 不知义 If jade is not polished, it cannot become a thing of use. If a man does not learn, he cannot know his duty towards his neighbour. 为⼈⼦ ⽅少时 亲师友 习礼仪 He who is the son of a man, when he is young, should attach himself to his teachers and friends; and practise ceremonial usages. ⾹九龄 能温席 孝於亲 所当执 Hsiang, at nine years of age, could warm his parent's bed. Filial piety towards parents, is that to which we should hold fast. 融四岁 能让梨 弟於长 宜先知 Jung, at four years of age, could yield the (bigger) pears. To hehave as a younger brother towards elders, is one of the first things to know. ⾸孝弟 次见闻 知某数 识某⽂ Begin with filial piety and fraternal love, and then see and hear . 从“格致”到“科学”西学中源,这个词的意思就是,西方学问源于中国。

science(科学)初至中国的时候,就碰到这种情况。

中国士大夫问,science就是什么?洋人说道,通过实验方法,研究自然,赢得科学知识。

中国士大夫说道,这种学问,中国自古存有之,叫作“格致”,就是“格物致知”的简写,《四书四书》的作者朱熹先生表述说道,“格”就是“至”,“格物致知”就是“至物质上面回去研究物质,赢得科学知识”,这不是你们的science 吗?洋人一听到,大为赞叹,从此science便译作为“格致”,在中国近代科技史上,采用了半个世纪。

朱熹先生教诲我们,从自身到万物,一草一木都要“格”(研究),今日格一物,得到一点知识,明日再格一物,又得到一点知识,积累多了,万物之理,豁然贯通。

这套“格致”学问,表面上看,很像搞科研,却只是假象。

原来朱熹先生所谓“格物”,不是动手动脚做实验,而是瞅着那物想问题;“格物”不是研究那物,而是通过那物反思自己的道德观,去恶从善,达到圣贤境界。

在朱熹先生看来,真要用全副精力去研究实物,那叫“玩物丧志”;让你观察外物,为的是内省,好像参禅,与科研风马牛不相及。

明朝的另一个理学家王阳明曾讥笑朱熹的“格致”说:“有一位朋友姓钱,想成为圣贤,我就让他去‘格’庭前竹子。

钱先生面对竹子,‘格’了三天三夜,‘格’不出个道理。

我就自己去试,‘格’了七天,也‘格’不出道理来。

我们只好叹口气,说,圣贤是做不成了!”对此,胡适先生说,“王阳明这段话最可以表示中国的士大夫从来没有研究自然的风气,从来没有实验科学的方法,所以虽然有‘格物致知’的理想,终不能建立科学。

”《四书四书》里的“格致”与“科学”毫无关系,却在中国近代史上,最终演进为“科学”。

念《四书五经》,碰到“格致”二字,无法意指“科学”,否则,《四书五经》就读于稀奇古怪;可以念中国近代科技书刊,碰到“格致”二字,那意思却大致等同于“科学”。

隋朝时期

隋朝是中国古代科举制度的起源。 隋朝统一全国之后,为了适应封建经济和政治 关系的发展变化,为了加强中央集权制度,用 科举制度代替以前的九品中正制。
唐朝时期

唐朝是中国古代科举制度完备时期。 在唐代,考试科目分为常科和制科两类。 武则天时首创武举和殿试。
宋朝时期

宋朝是中国古代科举制度的改革时期。 放宽录取和任用范围;由皇帝亲自殿试选考; 正式开始实行糊名和誉录,并建立防止徇私的 新制度

明朝时期

明朝是中国古代科举制度的鼎盛时期。 科举考试分为乡试、会试、殿试三级,开始采 用八股取士。考试内容为四书五经。
